[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!
Does anyone know when the new rewards go up, since the games are technically "expired" now?
See this post & this post. That tends to be the usual time, though once or twice, they were an hour late on changing the games.

Now I just wish we had some new physical rewards. The newest reward aside from the games was that Yoshi cleaning cloth from Jan.

I really hope Mario vs Donkey Kong Minis March Again and Metroid II are the 3DS games this month, the last time MvDK was the game of the month was back in late 2011 so maybe they can

Both Super Mario RPG and Maboshi's Arcade I want (missed Arcade last time), Nintendo really doesn't want me to save my coins for next CN year...

Hell yeah Excitebike this month. I wish they switched out the games every 2 weeks so we get more choices. Anybody who hasn't played Super Mario RPG its well worth 200 coins. Pick it up its a gem.

Dangit, nothing all that exciting for me and my 3DS. I've got coins expiring June 30th, so hopefully next month is awesome.

But for those with a Wii/U, definitely jump on super mario rpg.
Any new physical rewards?? They haven't changed in years.
Sadly, no. Last new reward was that Yoshi cleaning cloth from Jan. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until the next reward year (July) for new stuff to appear.

Mario RPG? Frick. I somehow ended up getting enough coins for Mario 64, and now I'm sitting on 0. Looks like I'll be passing on RPG this month. Anyone who (God forbid) hasn't played that, go get it. It's one of my favorite video games of all time.
Stupid question, but if I Get Super Mario RPG can I play it on the wii-u or just the wii?
Both system you just need the controller
Stupid question, but if I Get Super Mario RPG can I play it on the wii-u or just the wii?
You can play it via booting to the Wii Menu app on the Wii U. That's how you redeem the code as well, by going to the Wii Shop channel on the Wii Menu app. You can access it by holding the B button on the Wii U Gamepad while the system starts up.

Its just for the Wii. Can play it on the Wii U through Wii mode. Once it gets added to the Wii U virtual console, you can pay 1.50 or whatever to move it over.

Picked up Maboshi's Arcade after waiting months for a game I don't already have. Never heard of it, but it has pretty solid reviews. Anyone have a list of past games that were listed as giveaways? I have just about everything I could want from the VC, but there are a few that I would be interested in (e.g., I know that 1080 Snowboarding was offered before, but I didn't have enough coins.. how often do games repeat if ever?).

So I was redeeming my code for 3D Classics Excitebike and I selected download later and I got an error message. Now its not in my previously downloaded list and my code said its been used. Any ideas ? :(

I downloaded MArio RPG just fine, but when I try to download Mario 64 I get the error message 206608. Perhaps if I wait a little bit it will work later.

Either but you need the classic controller

Apparently Maboshi's has a free download for the 3DS as well. Anyone have any luck?

Here's a question:

Can you trade Club Nintendo Prize software codes? I got Mario 64 but I haven't redeemed it. Can I trade codes with someone else?

has anyone received the coins from downloading tank tank tank? I downloaded it last friday or does it take a few days?
has anyone received the coins from downloading tank tank tank? I downloaded it last friday or does it take a few days?
I've heard people mention that game can no longer be redeemed for free coins. If you haven't already received the coins for it then you might be out of luck.

The code can be redeemed on ANY wii or wii u. So yes. You can trade, sell, give away, whatever you want. It is not restricted to your use.

I was able to cash in my coins from Mario 64 under 15min ago and redeem it. This was after Mario RPG was became the new release! Now I have to get enough for RPG :/ My wii e-shop backlog is building up as badly as my physical Wii back log now.

I own

Nice! I usually try not to be "that guy" who skips the OP, but every once in awhile I am. Just took a look and it is very well maintained/organized. Good work!

It would be great if you cashed in for a VC game, it would be usable on *both* the Wii and 3DS that your Club Nintendo account is attached to.

Or, you know, Nintendo attached content to Nintendo Network accounts, not hardware serial numbers. :)

All of these. Give them to me, Nintendo. Is SMRPG already updated for wiiu or will I have to pay the extra money?

No, it's only available via Wii at the moment. I'm pretty sure since it's not up on the Wii U eShop, you can't get the Wii U version with off-TV play, save states/restore points, custom controls, & Miiverse support. You can still get it on Wii U if you get it via Wii Shop channel & play it by going to the Wii Menu app. If you want the mentioned Wii U features, you'll have to spend $1.50 to "upgrade" it once it's on the Wii U eShop.

Funny timing, I have access to an actual Mario RPG cart (belonged to my siblings) and was just considering playing it for the first time. Getting a digital version is tempting, but I would kinda prefer playing it on my old CRT television in the bedroom. :D

Just redeem the code on the Wii Virtual Console. These help:

How to use play Wii games on Wii U

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sy...=how_to&submenu=wup-wiimenu-ht-play-wii-games

How to redeem a Download Code on the Wii Shop Channel

Hope that helped:)

Come on make these wii-u vc games already it's been out since last year!

It's like they don't want to sell any. j/k

The only problem is that this is not confirmed as far as I know: ie, that once you buy something on your Wii (within your Wii U) that you can upgrade it - or if the upgrades are only for games you transferred when you did your original Wii -> Wii U transfer. If you don't have a Wii U but are getting one later then I would definitely grab this for 200 coins and upgrade it later for $1.50. But if you already have a Wii U I'm not convinced that path will be available.

And that really sucks on the lack of coins for Tank Tank Tank. I want my bandwidth back ;). I downloaded it when I first saw the posts about getting coins for it - but nothing on my account as of today.

I was thinking about buying tank tank tank but i think this will work for me... is it network enabled?

i.e. non-local battles?
Just redeem the code on the Wii Virtual Console. These help:

How to use play Wii games on Wii U

How to redeem a Download Code on the Wii Shop Channel

Hope that helped:)
This might be a good thing to have on the first post since I'm sure each month, people might be asking this each time a new VC game is added to Club Nintendo. & yeah, thread title needs to be updated.

I'm VERY tempted to get Super Mario RPG since it's one of my favorite RPGs ever, but I have a physical copy. Maybe if they offered a version for the Wii U, I might be more persuaded to get it....now that I think about it, will they offer Wii U eShop titles as rewards in the future?

Is this the same game that's 50 bucks at GameStop? Or is it a water down version.
