[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

While redeeming a couple more Wii Fit codes to get Maboshi's and SMRPG last week, I learned that the maximum number of family members you can have on a single CN account is 8.

Just an FYI for those that have a plethora of unused codes for a single game. I don't want to risk opening another main account up, as that has been a known flag to freeze accounts.
Thank you. I read it as it would come with some trinkets inside. Unfortunately it's just a fabric 'box' for $700.
With Wiimotes without their rubber gloves! How dare they show someone using a Wii w/o those on! :)
Read the OP. previous years platinum and gold rewards are mentioned there. If your only 70 points short theres no reason not to aim for platinum.
I think the first year was considered the best, but it was the same year that square enix was giving put opod touches so it didn't seem that great in comparison. Japan plat awards make ours look like garbage, even some of their coin awards make our look hpribble.

I'm still mad I didn't really keep track of it the year they sent out the awesome statue, I had a ton of things to register too (and easily made plat the next year because of it). The button set isn't that bad, I have it displayed with some old gaming stuff on a shelf. Last year I only hit gold so I went with the calendar since I already had the download games I wanted. My son likes the calendar, it is pretty decent, but not worth much except to a kid who loves Mario.

I'm plat this year so I hope for another cool statue, but given how they seem to go cheaper every year it'll probably be a poster or something. I guess since it is free though one shouldn't complain. Yeah I know we pay for it by buying games, but I don't think "Hey, I'll get this for the Club Nintendo points" when I buy a new game. I buy the game, get some points to use for downloadable games/other stuff and they send me some doodad once a year. It is more than MS or Sony do, with those I just get the game and usually the "opportunity" to spend some more on DLC.

I definitely wouldn't spend money I wasn't already intending to spend just to get platinum.

If the japanese rewards are better, could i have a friend over seas redeem, collect and ship it to me? if the pin's work over there and all
If the japanese rewards are better, could i have a friend over seas redeem, collect and ship it to me? if the pin's work over there and all
I could be wrong but I believe the accounts are entirely separate by region of the "club" and that if the game has any region restriction would only register in that clubs region.

Got the box too. Have 600 coins expiring at end of June. I don't love the box, but I'm afraid of missing it based on the likely influx or orders that are about to happen. Lotsa people got points expiring, after all.

But I'll use the box in my entertainment center. So cool enough.

Box looks pretty sweet so I picked it up since I had exactly 700 coins. It's actually something that would get used more than anything I've gotten outside of the reversible pouch. This is probably the last thing they'll add before the points expire.

I just discovered that I had a pile of unused codes. Unfortunately, they were for Gamecube games and have no coin value anymore. Wish I had discovered it sooner.

Don't think GC games ever gave point, even if registered.

Gamecube games had some codes, but they didn't give points/coins since it was before Club Nintendo. I recall certain games back in the GCN/GBA/DS era would give you special stuff like wallpapers or rarely a special promo, like registering Kirby: Canvas Curse would give you a pink stylus for the original fat DS. Club Nintendo didn't start until 09.

just found my 3DS pin number LOL only a month after the free game promo

was able to enter bunch of codes to get me up to 620 coins

now i wonder what they will send out free this year

Yeah, that awesome Zelda CE disc was another. They didn't happen often, but when Nintendo did promos for registering GCN & DS games back then, they were pretty neat. I recall there was one for getting a Metroid Prime 2 disc with a demo & some other stuff (which I actually found a few days ago after I rebought a GCN).
Saving my 3ds registration in hopes of another promo like luigi's mansion. Anyone think that will happen soon?
Probably not for a while. Promos like that are rare, and 3DS was struggling, now 3DS is taking off, they will likely do another promo like that when sales dip, or when they need a big bump (end of the year perhaps).

I don't think the 3ds was struggling 2 months ago, lol.
Before Club Nintendo, if you registered 5+ Gamecube games, you could get the Zelda Collector's Edition (Gamecube) for free. A friend of mine and I scrounged up codes to get copies. For awhile, those discs were worth some serious cash. (The other free Zelda disc was bundled w/ preorders of Wind Waker.)

I have one of those. I played Ocarina of Time on it for the first time on the Wii (Had PS1 instead of N64 and PS2 instead of GC). Probably one of the best compilations ever for any platform. All those games are just soooo good.. only way they could make it better is include Link to the Past and LInks Awakening both of which were already really old at the time..
I don't think the 3ds was struggling 2 months ago, lol.
Comparatively speaking it wasnt, but compare to the same time in life cycle to Nintendo DS it was. Sales expectations were higher. And 2 months ago is when it started picking up. A LOT of people got their 3DSs in the last 2 months, because thats when it finally became worth it to have one. Promos like Luigi's Mansion were helping that. And at this point software lineup is looking great, so its only up and up from here.

It also came free with a subscription to Nintendo Power. That was the best gift ever; easily worth $20.

I have both of those promo Zelda games. I remember walking into a GameStop and the guy asked me if I wanted a used copy of the Wind Waker promo for $10. He scanned the opened game and pulled a new one out of a box and handed it to me. He said it was a loophole to sell the leftover promo discs. I need to hold off on this new box thing. I have a bad habit of impulse buying the club Nintendo stuff and getting buyers remorse.
Saving my 3ds registration in hopes of another promo like luigi's mansion. Anyone think that will happen soon?
probally not

When Toys R Us didn't get rid of their Zelda CE's with the Gamecube promo they put them on sale for $10. I must have bought about 20 of them. I made some mad bank on that deal. Too good to pass up at the time.

Did Nintendo ever fix it to where you when you connect online on your 3DS/download stuff, you had to turn the firewall off on your router?
Did Nintendo ever fix it to where you when you connect online on your 3DS/download stuff, you had to turn the firewall off on your router?
Who runs a firewall on their router that plays games online?
Did Nintendo ever fix it to where you when you connect online on your 3DS/download stuff, you had to turn the firewall off on your router?
I've never had that issue or heard about it before. Maybe it's just your router or ISP. You could always try using a static IP for the 3DS and just open up the ports needed and hopefully that would solve it.

I haven't got another 3DS yet, im waiting till after e3 but its a belkin.6b0. Got it not too long after I sold my first 3DS so about a year ago. It's a AES

The current digital games expire June 2nd. I'd expect a new batch before the club year runs out.

I wasnt really interested in that box, but id of gone for the yoshi cleaning cloth, never saw it in stock. Anyone manage to snag one?

Btw, anyone know when they are going to release platinum reward info?
That Yoshi cleaning cloth was added in January. It didn't last long.
Ahh ic, funny it just popped up and showed as out of stock yesterday, maybe they had a few left.

Saw it yesterday and didn't have enough points.
I want them to bring back the DS case holder that holds 3ds games too.
Want another one of those.

Just got Platinum, I sure hope it's a good prize this year.
Do I ever lose my points if I don't use them?

Also, just registered my copy of Custom Robo and didn't get any coins :(
Yes they expire after 2 years around June/July.

So if you registered right now, they will expire in 1 year 1 month

If you register in 2 monhts they will expire in 1 year 11 months from then.
TANK TANK TANK is free. No reason not to get it!
Actually, it's just a waste of space. The main game is completely locked out and only unlockable via micro transactions. This isn't free. Fix it.
