[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!
If Mario 3 is on the Wii U VC then someone can finally be the guinea pig to see if redeeming a code on your Wii-within-the-WiiU is then upgradeable to the Wii U VC version for the cheap price. I was worried that it would only be games that you transferred over to the Wii U originally and not stuff you bought (or redeemed) later. I'm not sure if anyone has tested this yet.

I'd do it but I'm pretty sure I already have it on the Wii VC (and thus it transferred over from my original Wii). But then again I get all these Mario games mixed up so I have no idea what I actually have ;).
I added Kirby Super Star from Club Nintendo shortly after I got my Wii U; upgraded just fine when Wii U version was released.

Already been a guinea pig on that one. I got Kirby Super Star on the Wii for points a few months back, it came up as $1.50 and as a bonus it also counted towards the buy 2 Kirby games get 1 free a couple weeks back. I think as long as you have the game on the associated Wii console contained/transferred to your WiiU it will automatically adjust the price, even if it is redeemed by points. If you are asking about how fast the discount shows up, I'd say instantly because when you buy something that adjusts a price of something else it is reflected automatically.

The main thing to remember is that since Nintendo ties content to a console, the Wii within the WiiU still counts as the same console as far as the discounts are concerned.

OK, thanks guys. I remember we were discussing this a while back and I don't remember anyone actually doing the test (or there weren't any games on both at the time). That's good to know. So hopefully they will add N64 upgrades and then I can use those last points I have to buy something (and then pay $2 at most to upgrade).

I figured the Wii within a Wii U was a totally different and independent entity from the Wii U itself so I'm pretty surprised they are able to do any cross-communication between the shops there. Frankly, I'm stunned by that.
Actually never heard of metroid II so I'll give it a stab
Whaaaaaaa..?
Why are the good games always listed for the Wii while the 3DS gets crap? What a waste.
Metroid II crap?? Nonsense. Also I don't feel having good games on Wii is a waste, I would actually prefer if I were able to grab Metroid II on the Wii, so much so that I would just outright buy it over redeeming points for a tiny version. I already have the first Metroid on Wii and would rather them be in one place, its also a game I'd prefer on the big screen for some reason.

I'm actually like the polar opposite of you atm, I have zero interest in a Mario game that isn't Rpg, Paper, or M&L so these Wii offerings disappoint.
I have Wii Points sitting on my old Wii Shop account. I wonder if there is something I could buy to see if I can then upgrade it? I'm pretty sure I already had Mario 2 then (whatever it was, I had the upgrade option already).

I suppose we just need to wait for more Wii U VC releases to get a better library to test with.
I had forgotten that I had 400 points left on my Wii account. 400 is nearly useless on there, so I ended up adding money and bought Mega Man III and Secret of Mana. I'm sure they will get to the Wii U virtual console eventually...

Glad they offered Metroid II since I never finished it as a kid. I originally got it at launch for Gameboy and then it got stolen from a friends house. It'll be good to play it again since Metroid is one of my favorite series from Nintendo. Here's hoping the 3DS gets a good Metroid title in the future.

I think we'd all want Metroid 2 on a big screen but for a GB title, it'll look horrendous upscaled that big

It works. I did Kirby's Super Star last week.

Wow i missed out on the luigi pouch!!! Dang!!! Hope they put that back up soon and also the 3ds case should be put back as well. I want those 2!

Btw, i guess this will be the last update on the featured game offers since all 4 games has an ending date of june 30? Sucks! Nothing for me again.

I'm happy that nothing interests me this month (was considering F-Zero X though, already have SMB3), means I get to save my registering for next CN year.

Crap, just noticed the OP is all screwed up with the new update. Will have to fix it in the morning, sorry guys:cry:

Got Metroid 2, since it's the first 3DS thing they've had that appealed to me at all, and I'm really surprised at how well it holds up.  Yeah it lacks color and a lot of the things that came in Super Metroid and beyond but it's still really enjoyable and worth playing again if you're a Metroid fan.

Ok, so in regards to the OP looking like a total mess, it's do to the new limit of the number of emoticons that can be in a post. I don't want to remove them all, as I won't be able to remember which games were on which systems, and copy and pasting it later might prove an even bigger hassle. So really sorry guy's, I'm hoping this limit is removed again soon, but if not I guess I will just have to figure something else out.

Sidenote: Animal Crossing New Leaf new release bonus point surveys are up!

It didn't look bad on the Gamecube Game Boy Player in 480p. So if they could emulate in that style, I'd be for it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mFz8JKvjjY
So if you put the cart in a GB player it plays in color but the 3DS download is still in its original form? How much does a cart of Metroid 2 cost then?

I'm sure a lot of cags are already platinum status so just a reminder that you should keep your surveys until July 1st since that's when the new year starts. Animal Crossing for example the +10 early bonus qualifies until July 9th so that's a good one to save until the new year begins.

I don't know why I didn't do the intend to purchase thing with Animal Crossing, would figure that would be the one I skip and now I'm thinking of buying it this week.

Cheapest on Amazon is $15 used.

Call me crazy but once I started playing it I actually liked that they kept it in it's original form.  Would the option have been nice to have?  Of course, but I know what colors Samus and Metroids are.  Better to have the original than be stuck with a recolor if you can only have one.

Mine says it expires on June 9th for intend to buy,is it for everyone else too?

Edit: Apparently, it's June 9, 2018 lol.

Of course it'd be optional. It's a palette swap, not rocket science.

Just for the record, if any Club Nintendo "Intend to Buy" surveys come up, it would a good idea to fill in the information regardless if you are interested in buying the game any time soon.  After its release, you have 5 years to perform the initial registration (AKA buy the game and register the CN code) to get the additional +10 coins.

So wait, may have been asked but is Super luigi U a standalone game or do you have to have new SMBU? I'm referring to the download copy, I didn't realize the physical game came out aug 25

You must have either the retail or download copy of New SMBU in order to use the download copy of Super Luigi U (it's considered DLC). The retail copy is stand-alone.

So wait, may have been asked but is Super luigi U a standalone game or do you have to have new SMBU? I'm referring to the download copy, I didn't realize the physical game came out aug 25
Note: New Super Mario Bros. U is required to play the digital version of New Super Luigi U.

As far as I can tell, SLU is Nintendo's first foray into DLC, which was news to me as well.

Nintendo has done other DLC's, but this is the largest I believe. It's also a whopping $20 dollars for a largely "reskined" game.

Not even close. The game mechanics, and level design are all completly different. The only thing the same about it is the map itself. All of the levels are totally redone and have nothing in common with the original ones. You may have assumed what you said in the first place, but it's bad information that isn't correct, and there is no reason to get people here thinking something that isn't true. The only thing reskinned is Mario into Luigi, that's it. Everything else is different.

Alright, I have a new question. We just picked up a 3DS XL for my fiance. I got a Red one, she just got the Blue one. Can I redeem her PIN# on my Club Nintendo account and get points for it?

I think I've heard you can't add multiples of the same game but can I do it with consoles.

you just need to add her as a family member. All points still get pooled into the main account :)

what is so impossible about it? Is there something I need to change in the OP? (honest question, not being sarcastic)
There's nothing wrong with this thread. The year doesn't end for a few days for Nintendo so Needler check back then or just keep checking Club Nintendo. When Platinum is announced we'll all know cause I expect there will be lots of people complaining about the prize. Lets hope I'm wrong and the prize is better than previous years.

I just wish some items would come in stock ASAP. I have near 2k points expiring by the 30th and all that's up is garbage.

Wait, what's different than well, ever?

you could probably redeem them for the games and trade/sell them off to other CAGs. If they are just expiring it's better than nothing.

Can you redeem one game multiple times?
Redeem a CN voucher for survey? Yes if you make a sub account, but you might get banned.

Buy a game off the site? I believe so, not like trying it will hurt.

Also if you're looking to get rid of points, I've been thinking of buying the pencil case. If you want to help me out, we can try to work out a fair price.
