[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I wish they wouldn't do repeats all the time — Donkey Kong and Super Punch Out.

But it's nice to see Star Fox 64 offered. I may consider it but I barely play Wii anymore.

I would be more interested in better 3DS titles being offered for coins.

Has anyone tried redeeming points today or is it better to wait? I tried earlier and they still havent counted towards the new year yet :(

Also, the new games arent showing up for me. Still have the old ones.

The new rewards are in the Rewards section, not yet on the front page

The Wii games are good, considering this is the third time theyve had super punch out i'll pick it up. Star Fox is a good offering - good to see n64 represented and not fluidity or something again. I'm curious as to the gold/plat game rewards - I was really expecting super punch out to be on there. From my leftover surveys, I think I'll hit gold next year without even entering my hard copy codes. I need to stop buying games.

The 3DS games used to be pretty decent but it's all just quick burst DSIware now.

Is super punch out any good compared to the original mike tyson?  I'd probably get the physical copy at a local gamestop, but just wondering if the game warrants a sub $10 purchase.

Its sad that I had so many unused code that I am already platinum again.  Also super punch is an excellent choice.  Many fighters and in the later rounds if you don't have good reflexes you'll be destroyed in no time.

Edit: Minus the current bug that is.  But Im sure it will be fixed.

I too have the same problem with not having today's redeemed codes counting towards the new Club Nintendo year. It wouldn't make sense for them to finally reset the system today and imply that July 2 would be the new start. After all, the FAQ says that the Club Nintendo Year is July 1 to June 30 of the following year, and "Your status will reset annually on June 30."

And if that coins thing still fails to deliver, I can just email Nintendo and show them a screenshot of my code registrations starting on July 1, and hopefully that will get it covered for the new year.

I hope so. I think im gonna wait until tomorrow to see if my 10 points roll over before adding the rest of mine.

I just had the same thing happen to me. :bomb: I was saving a post play survey PURPOSELY so I could get the points to count for next year, I figured well today is july 1st so it will work and it did not seem to take anything away from this years total. That really sucks

Here's hoping this years Platinum Reward is better than last year.  Also, I really wish they'd update their rewards section, I can't seriously believe thats all the crap Nintendo has to offer.

Like 10 people and it's not working. I'd suggest to wait or prepare to be screwed.
I wouldn't worry too much since the rules state that a new Club Nintendo year starts on July 1. So if you're being screwed over on your points for the new year due to the problem today, you can talk to customer service and use your account history to prove that you indeed entered your codes on July 1 for the new year. If they fail to help you on that matter, then that would be really uncharacteristic of them to say one thing on the official website but screw you over and lie to you.

Good thing I came to this page I made Platinum Status but now I guess I have to spend 750 before the day is over....am I right?

what was last years gold and plat.

wow last years plat sucked

Donkey Kong is truly excellent, and an enormous amount of content. It's NOT a port of the arcade game. It starts out sort of like the arcade game, but then you get a world map and a whole slew of levels (something like 60 or 70?) And it becomes a very interesting puzzle platformer which slowly adds new mechanics every few levels. it's pretty much a must-have, especially now that you can snag it for free.

Thanks, looks like I'll be getting Donkey Kong now. Glad it has a lot of content as I thought it was a port of DK.

Donkey Kong is fantastic.

I just hope the Gold rewards are game downloads again like last year. If that fucking calendar reappears as the only reward I'm gonna through my computer out the window.

so much rage for something that is free lol
Okay, so the "it's free, they don't have to do it" arguement is pretty stale. The fact of the matter is they don't HAVE to do it, but these companies DO hold these rewards programs for spending hundreds of dollars on their games/products (if actually buying them legit), so the least they could do is give us something worthwhile, otherwise, don't hold a rewards program at all.

To be fair, Club Nintendo is an elaborate scam to get "free" market research for "cheap" prizes. Considering the minimal requirements to hit platinum is 600 coins and the ratio is roughly 1:1 (so a $40 dollar game is worth 40 coins), that is a pretty high threshold for any prize. Assuming you do the intend to buys and get the first month bonus, you're looking at $480 dollars to hit platinum. When you factor in only a few games are actually applicable, it's a lot of money. Also, don't forget that you're also doing roughly 36 surveys to even win this "free" prize, so yeah... people have some right to complain. I am with you that it's a lot of rage, but again, it's far from "free".

I happen to like the CN calendar; however, I really do hope this year's Plat reward is better than pins and cards.

I wish CN would give Plat both rewards

Star Fox 64 was intriguing, until I see it's 200 coins. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's more coins that most games run for isn't it? I believe I got both Majora's and Paper Mario for 150 coins each.

Donkey Kong was an insta-buy when I got a 3DS, along with Mario's Picross. Very happy to get both on VC.

Only Gold/Platinum gift I really liked was the PVC statue, which is still displayed in my living room. Even kept the question-mark box it came in.

N64 games are almost always 200 I believe.

No, it's free. They don't even charge you shipping and handling. They don't owe you anything.
It's free for me because I lie on all the surveys. Seriously, though, it's not free. You pay for the games and make the effort to visit the site regularly, contributing your stupid opinions about video games, which they apparently value. It's market research, that's why they ask your age, sex, family members, etc. It's like 1% cashback on credit cards - you're paying for it with higher retail prices due to the merchant's transaction fees. Nothing is free.

As for releasing attractive and popular prizes? Nah, they don't really have to do that. The platinum/gold thing is just to keep you coming back. If they don't do it well, the program might suffer, but you're right, they don't owe us anything.

Just chiming in on the missing points issue. The copy of Animal Crossing I registered yesterday is not counting towards the 300 coins needed for Gold this coming year. I also received an email from a rep after inquiring about the issue and was told it was extremely busy yesterday with the transition from year to year so it took a longer longer to display.

If you're buying Nintendo games just to get a prize, I'm gonna a have to sit you down for a while.
I've heard people factor in the cost of the games before and never understood it. If you bought it, you did so because it's a game you wanted to play. You would have bought it with or without points. Anything after that is extra.

Anyone have luck with coins counting yet?
Just checked my account and the 10 coins for a post play survey that I took yesterday have carried over for the 2014 Club Nintendo year. Curiously, 20 coins from the Wii U Virtual Console campaign also carried over, though it was registered prior to July 1st. It now states that I am 270 away from gold. Time to register all the codes I have been hoarding.

I'm not.

People mention the cost, since it's the cost of "entry". The minimal (unless you steal coins, wait for killer deals, buy crappy CN games for coins, or ask your friends) is 400+ dollars to platinum, though In my case I probably spent close to $700 dollars to platinum (bought a Wii U). Sure the coins themselves are worthless, but you're also talking about a system that asks you to spend around 100 to get any sort of prize and 200 to get any sort of physical prizes. Even this would be okay, but Nintendo makes you work for every single coin you get. There is an intend to buy survey for 10 points (still requires you to buy), there is a registration survey and finally a post play survey. I don't consider a system where I need to spend large sums of money, constantly pay attention to the site (a lot of good prizes have poofed) and fill out 2 or more surveys per game for a system where I get a free item. It really just sounds like compensation.

I also checked my account and it showed all coins now counting toward gold. Thank god too, I had a WiiU survey in there I was worried wouldn't count as it showed "registered" on June 14th, but did end up counting toward this new year total.

People aren't buying platinum status. They're buying the video games they wanted. Getting the platinum prize is just a nice little bonus. And I'm pretty sure CAGs aren't dropping $40 on each game they buy.

This year I got platinum status and about a dozen games including Fire Emblem, Ocarina of Time 3D, and RE: Revalations and it only cost me $180.

Nintendo doesn't make you do anything. The program is optional. Most people don't even know about it. If you're displeased with the program, if it feels like work, if you feel like the benefits aren't worth it, your best option is to not use it. Avoiding it may make you happier.

A handful of old games and some branded swag is really not worth getting upset over.
