[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Yup! Year before it was on July 1st and before that July 1st and the first year was July 14th. I don't foresee a Saturday reveal, though it could happen on Sunday (that is the day they typically release games), but this will probably go down as the longest wait for the platinum rewards in the US. With that being said, Nintendo has kicked up Club Nintendo a lot this year, so hopefully we will see an equally awesome CN platinum prize. For those that haven't been paying attention, we got the Kirby medal / Kirby card raffle / Kid Icarus raffle / XL + game promo / a few more unique prizes / more third party games with coins / virtual console bonus credit / NSLBU bonus coins and pin raffle / Donkey Kong original game / 30 dollar credit promo. Also last year suffered from the "stupidly easy" platinum status, which probably played a big role in the "lack luster" prizes.

No worries. I tend to play devils advocate, so this is nothing new to me.
What exactly made plat stupidly easy last year?

What exactly made plat stupidly easy last year?
Sorry, got the years mixed up and meant two years ago. Though the reason for that was (and this lead to the wildly unpopular port of the badge collection)...

The reason for this was buying a Nintendo 3DS gave you 160 coins, since that's how much the console gives you. From here you could have got another 10 from the Pokedex, 10 from Excitebike, 10 from Netflix (some of these numbers might be wrong, cause I can't view Club Nintendo atm) and 40 for linking your system. By now you have 230 coins and the ambassador program hit, which is when a LOT of CAG's bought their 3DS's (cause you could buy a week before the drop, get the status and then price match the system down) and those gave another 200 coins from the 20 ambassador titles. By now you have 430 coins (gold status) and would need a mere 170 coins to platinum. With Starfox 64, LoZ OoT, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and Pokemon released / releasing for the DS / 3DS and Skyward Sword on the Wii, well it wasn't exactly hard to fathom a lot of people filled up that 170 coin difference. Especially since the 3DS didn't have much else to play back then.

It's crazy to remember how bad the 3DS was (in terms of complete and utter lack of game library) and how expensive it was then the price dropped and so many amazing titles came out and now if you don't have a 3DS you're just doing it wrong.

It was $120ish for a while after Zelda came out from AWD, I got in right then and I've had zero complaints about the library.

Yeah after Zelda came out the library just got much better and better. I got my first 3DS right around the price drop along with Zelda and since then have absolutely loved it and playing games now on my XL is always a good time. Comparing the 3DS and what it offered for the price when it started out and now though is a huge difference haha and makes me hopeful for the future of Wii U.

Club nintendo site is down for maintenance. Is this it? Sucky if this is true. Hopefully not the case

I don't see those items listed on club.nintendo.com. Maybe that's for those Gold people.

Wow.. so horrible... already own the 2 disc OST from Zelda Majora's Mask from years ago... I obtained it from Nintendo Power. The OST listed here looks like a single disc. Why couldn't they given us Super Mario Galaxy 2: Platinum Soundtrack. Man... :whistle2:(

When it's posters or a CD they really ought to let the platinum people at least get one of the ancient games as well. >.<  I don't want to be another complainer but man that's even worse than the low height I set my expectations to.

Don't forget that you need to sign in to view these rewards. Anyways, since I only made it to Gold, looks like Smash Bros is the only good choice.
Oh. I see. My first time joining was when I got my Pikachu 3ds.

Oh my. Don't know what I'll do with that stuff. Guess I might go for the calendar. Their Platinum stuff in unimpressive. Oh well. It's FREE.

Very well said. I wholeheartedly agree.

If I choose to download one of these ancient games, do I get the download code immediately or do I have to wait until December like the wonderful posters?

I recently bought Warioware DIY for the DS brand new for $4. Is there any difference between the DS version and the Wii version??

It was one of those ymmv 75% managers specials at best buy.

Picked the 3 poster set. That Luigi poster is awesome and sold me on that platinum gift.

Now only 60 coins for Platinum status for this year.

What will next year bring? Let the complaining start now.

I seem to be in the minority but as a big Zelda fan I'm not going to pass up the chance at the OSD over posters. I'm not even a soundtrack collector nor do I particularly care to listen to it but it's Zelda majora's mask for heavens sake.

This re-released CD features the entire soundtrack of this classic Zelda™ title. All songs were written and composed by Koji Kondo, except three by Toru Minegishi.

I knew it wouldn't have been a first printing. Its marked with Club Nintendo on the disc. That will make it collectible.

Don't know what I'd do with posters as a grown man? I guess sell them or stick them on my kid's walls? So...I guess I'll be getting the cd and sticking it on a shelf with the pin set from when I got platinum a couple years ago.

I agree with those saying it would be nice to get a game also as a platinum level member.

Wow... As bad as the cards were last year I'm sorry these are just outright shocking. I mean I'm actually in shock at how bad these are. With all the backlash they received last year I really thought they'd surprise us. And this makes it official, defend Nintendo all you want, this proves that NOA views their audience as a mix of kids and adults living in the parents' basements. A 3 poster set or a soundtrack to a game that came out over ten years ago?

I'll probably just take Link's Awakening, I had it on a previous 3DS but wasn't able to transfer it since I didn't have the serial #. I never had time to beat it then and for some reason despite having it on release never beat it way back when either so at least there's that.

They could have at LEAST offered up some games that you couldn't get anywhere else. Maybe some more GBA games or something really special like an N64 or SNES port.

I want the Luigi poster, but will prob never hang it up. I want the Zelda soundtrack, but will prob never listen to it.. Tough decision here..

This is exactly how I feel about this. I'm not going to put up Nintendo posters and I'm not going to listen to a video game soundtrack I have the soundtrack that came with skyward sword. Do I really need two Legend of Zelda soundtrack CD's? Honestly I might end up getting the desk calendar.

The cards last year were a better gift than this stuff...

This is a slap in the face from nintendo basically.

Then don't choose to get anything. Simple enough.
In all honesty I don't think anybody should choose either of the plat-only rewards and in turn send Nintendo a message. I don't even expect much I mean even just a little figure or something to display on my desk would be much better. A poster though? I had to laugh but it's just laughable. And a soundtrack you could easily download any number of places or listen to on youtube? No way...

Had 2 accounts go platinum so I choose the posters and the calender. The Luigi poster is by far the coolest of the rewards. I also like having the calender setting on my desk by my computer so I grabbed that as well.

For all of you who complain about the available rewards just remember Nintendo doesn't have to reward us at all if they decided to end the program. Just look at Square Enix Members Rewards. Enjoy it while we have it. I would still buy 1st party Nintendo games even if their was no Club Nintendo.

I'm offering a $20 Nintendo Points card (your choice of system) in exchange for a set of the posters from someone.

It's funny. Every year, people complain about the current line-up of prizes. Now, people are saying how much better the previous year's lineups were... ;)

People have been saying they've wanted OSTs as rewards for years! Granted, Majora's Mask is an... odd choice. But I'm happy to get it.

It's because it's getting worse and worse every year so last years seems better in comparison ;D

The pikmin poster made me get the posters D:

though the cd art for the majoras mask is tight!

Well, I went ahead and ordered the CD.  It will go on my computer desk next to the pin set which is not with the rest of my CD's/DVD's/Blu's as I have no reason to stick it on a shelf in my living room when I never plan on opening it or listening to it.

If they offered platinum members 2 games instead of just 1 like gold members get then I'd have taken 2 games over the CD.  Frankly, the games this year are pretty bad compared to last year.  I got a Majora's Mask Cd this year and last year I only attained gold status but was able to take the Majora's Mask virtual console game.  The Zelda game they have now is a Gameboy game that had color added to it (for Gameboy color?).  I know because I had that game for Gameboy years ago.

Updated the OP, sorry it took so long (was already in bed when I saw the post). Thanks for the heads up smokeyjoey :D

I am in the same boat as everyone else. I don't mind having nerdy stuff up as an adult but at the same time I really don't want three Nintendo posters hanging in my kitchen or something haha

Probably will just nab Links Awakening though I hate being Platinum and just taking a Gold prize. Womp womp wompppp
