[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

blah

:3ds: Art Academy: First Semester, 150 Coins

:3ds: Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, 150 Coins

are repeats, they offered them before other than gold rewards. I know because I got them on my 3DS and I would never would have chosen them as prizes or spent anything other than coins to get them,

WOW! Not a GBC game port. I am excited. Is this the GBA Mario vs Donkey Kong? I have the DS game, this sounds like the prequel or is it a bite-size section of the full DS game?

So this is my first year on club nintendo and I reached platinum . I was wondering if anyone could tell me when I can expect to receive my poster set ?

Before the end of December.

I've got over 1200 coins. I really hope there's some kind of cool things put up soon.
thanks for the response .

YeAh I have a ton as well have only used it on two 3ds games .

Wonder if they will ever start giving options for wii u VC instead of having to still use the wii VC .

This might be a stupid question but can you purchase Pilotwings with the club points, download the Wii version and then get the upgraded Wii U version for $1 or whatever the fee is? Or does that only work if you already had the Wii games on your Wii U from a transfer? I would assume it would work for any Wii VC game but I wanted to check and see if anyone knows for sure before I spend the points.

That should work. You will have to redeem it in the virtual Wii on the Wii U though.

Billy, I assume since the program is essentially dead right now. We are a year away from next rewards, and there hasn't been anything new added since what, last year?

There's been the Yoshi cleaning cloth, the Pikmin tote and several restocks of older stuff but yeah, nothing I'd actually want. I'd say the chances of them adding the gold Nunchucks back are slim to none at this point.

Well, they have downloadable games rotated on a monthly basis, and they put new ITB surveys up about every two weeks (to coincide with the new upcoming releases), so its updated at least a few times a month. Pokemon X/Y is pretty anticipated by its fans, so the fact that the ITB surveys went up without notice is what surprised me.

To people who are just interested in the annual prizes and significant physical merch, yeah, the program is at a lull, but I don't think that is the only purpose of the thread / program.

Sorry for this rookie question -   I just picked up a WII u.  I assume the games listed on the rewards sight for 150 coins  like Zoda's Revenge can be downloaded to the Wii U , is that correct?

They can but you have to go through the Wii menu to download and play them. You can't take advantage of Wii U virtual console features like controller screen play.

I can confirm this works if anyone was still wondering. Brought the price of pilotwings down to $1.50.

I just got the Wii u and have not played around with it too much to know all the features. So there is a Wii Menu within the Wii u?

Hey dudes, I was wondering if I could transfer Wii data to a Wii U. Can someone please tell me if it's possible?
You can transfer native Wii software to a Wii U (but not vice versa) using a special app on the Wii U. This transfer erases the original copy of the software on the Wii during the transfer process. Those transferred games can no longer be played on that Wii system. Virtual Console games can be transferred as well, but must be played through the virtual Wii interface on the Wii U unless you purchase an upgrade for each individual game. Save files can be transferred via a SD card.

So I'm in the process of setting up my WiiU and got a thing saying join Club Nintendo but there's no PIN on it.  Is that normal?  Do you get coins for registering the WiiU?  Also noticed that half the games I've opened so far don't seem to have CN coins which seems really weird after every 3DS game I've bought having them.

You get opted to link your nintendo club account at one point during the wii u setup. It then registers through the site. You get 160 coins a couple minutes later.

Not really sure for the other questions. :p

& you ended up getting one to then :p

Oh that's awkward. Was hoping to just sit on the code for a bit in case they did a promo like they did with the 3DS and Dark Moon, oh well.

Yeah, I got the Zelda bundle and now need to sell the Zelda codes since I have the physical LE on order.

Eldritch, did you get The Wonderful 101 after all?

When do you guys think we'll get the Wonderful 101 shirts as the redeemable prizes?
Yes, went to Target and PM'd two copies two Amazon and got NSMBU as well so walked out the door paying $107 and then traded one copy to BBY for $42. Don't think $32.50 for each game is too shabby.

You can go to your club nintendo account and add the serial from the back of your system. A while later you'll get a 160 coin survey that you can fill out.

Oh OK, so I can set up and use the system and then register it later just fine?

Yes, but you won't retroactively gain any coins from downloads you make before linking.

Just a heads up, my Nintendo rep was in today showing off the 2DS, which is pretty cool BTW, and we got to talking about Club Nintendo, and I mentioned the lack of new products disappoints me, and she told me that all the reps just finished up some training on new products coming soon, but she couldn't tell me what, just to keep an eye on the rewards.  Although its pretty vague, at least we can expect something new soon, so at least theres that.

Speaking of rumors and Nintendo reps there's a very good chance a Zelda themed 3DS XL might be coming for black Friday. I was third party to all of this so again, extreme rumor but that was definitely the hint that was being given.

If I have the ambassador GBA game, is there any real reason to get this M&DK, too? I mean, how similar are the two?
The GBA title is a true sequel to DK '94. The DSware is a sequel in name alone, it spins off into the lemmings-like gameplay that the DS title, Mario Vs DK2, diverged into and continued with Miniland Mayhem.

I absolutely loved the first Star Tropics... I somehow have more nostalgic memories of that game than nearly any other NES game other than Crash n the Boys Street Challenge. Too bad this sequel is only being offered on Wii... otherwise I'd pick it up in a heartbeat on my 3DS.
I did to but the night I beat it my parents split up.

Good to hear that. I've got 600+ points that are just sitting there, wasting away. Would love to get another crack at a DS/3DS cartridge holder. One that doesn't sacrifice space for a friggin' stylus or five.

Watch it turn out to be more digital games. New ones mind you, not rehashes like we've been seeing.
