[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

How do you get the Elite gifts? I'm at gold status but every item is shown as not available.
I love how no one answers your question... =\

You can't select an item, because the redemption period has ended. I believe you're getting a calendar, which is the default item. However, if you got gold for 2014, then you need to wait till July for the new items to appear.

Does anyone know what games have coins that are $1 or less at gamestop? I have links crossbow training and americas test kitchen and the wii fits redeemed already.

You pretty much nailed it down, the next closest title is Flingsmash at $2.99 for the Wii, and games like Flash Focus for $1.99 for the DS (though I think most of the cases and codes have already been tossed out at most locations).

Remember, you can technically redeem 8 Wii Fit codes per account (assuming you have / make up 7 other family members), just don't create multiple master accounts (which may flag your accounts for freezing).

Thanks dude, didn't know you could do this.

Had a couple dupes lying around that helped me get more coins.

Every game, but Nintendo has banned people for it or I recall hearing that anyway.
The banning was more exclusive to those who opened multiple CN accounts to get more than one Gold / Platinum reward, not for having sub accounts on one main account. I legitimately registered my kids and wife, along with some siblings to fill out the additional 7 family member roster. All they really require is an email address, or for kids, you don't even need that to create a sub account.

Guys, I have a mystery that is slightly off-topic.  On my Club Nintendo "earn coins" page, I have a post-play survey available for Super Adventure Island II.  I am 90% certain that I've never purchased this game.  I'll have to get on the Wii Shop Channel (oh it's such a pain) and check.  Maybe it's just a bug giving me the wrong game graphic for something I actually did purchase (and presumably register since it's a post-play).

Would be fun if I got Super Adventure Island II for free for no reason, though.

I'm a little disappointed that my Legend of Zelda posters aren't in pristine condition after shipping. There's a bit of worn edges on them, which isn't as bad as I first thought when I saw the completely worn edges on the protective paper that was wrapped around them.

Yikes. Did they not ship them in a tube?

Yeah, but the tube isn't exactly a high quality cardboard tube. Specifically, there are these flimsy cardboard caps that they taped onto the ends with the tape nearly being torn through on the one end.
Those things are a lot of coins too. Nintendo support is slow these days, but they're pretty friendly (barring the "I lost my Wii/3DS and had $12,000 content on there!" horror stories); I wonder if there would be something they can do.

Can someone tell me why the Club Nintendo site is so absolutely janky as hell?  I have graphics missing, it takes an age to login, and worse of all, I just finished completing a survey, giving VERY DETAILED answered, to end up at a "whoops!" page and find my survey did not register.  What the hell!  It's not just about the 10 coins for me.

Probably because they don't want to put any extra money into it. It does suck(maybe even the worst website that I frequent), but I don't have any hopes of them fixing it anytime soon.

So, anyone getting their Platinum rewards shipping yet? I know it says by the end of December but they usually get them going sooner than that.

Also, not to derail this thread, but...

Any insight on our Elite gifts? We are already in December and I haven't heard or received anything. Kinda shocked. :(

I want my Zelda Soundtrack.

Hope Nintendo changed my address,I emailed them like 3 times and no reply, don't want to deal with that hellish phone line.

Otherwise I might not be seeing my soundtrack for a while...

It's always different, but I once got mine during the last week of November.
This.

Nothing, though they come at different times. Like, one year we got our elite rewards announced the day after and this year it was like 15 days after. It should come before Xmas though.

Nintendo has always been a company somewhat backwards when it comes to digital and the CN site is not a priority. You can tell that by the lack of information (like why does Sonic Lost Worlds / Monster Hunter 3 have coins on the 3DS, but lack it on the Wii U?), information given is somewhat dicey (2DS use to be worth 120 coins), prizes take months to restock and rarely anything new is added. It's a shame that Nintendo puts so little effort forth, but I suppose this is a catch 22 too.

Does Nintendo put forth no effort because most supporters don't try or do people not try because Nintendo doesn't put forth the effort to motivate me to care? In my case, I am in the latter. I would gladly answer the questions, but it sucks that they're always the same. I only read gaming news sites and press releases, so all my motivates will always be that. Quite annoying to answer those 3 or so questions exactly the same every time. (at least if I want to be honest)

Ha!  Yes, it is really annoying answering the same questions over and over.  I have fun sometimes with the text boxes, but then I spend a bunch of time and wonder why I bother, or I lose my "review" and think ugh, all that effort for nothing!

Anyway, what's this about platinum rewards?  Don't we have to choose a reward like usual, or is there just one option this time?  I hope I didn't miss anything.

I'm assuming they're still talking about this past year's reward and not receiving it yet?
Oh, okay. Well maybe I have one of those coming too in that case :p I can't remember what I did with the reward from the year before even. I think I had planned to sell it on eBay (playing cards?). But I dno where I put it.

If you were supposed to get one and never chose it then you should have a default one show up at some point.

Better than me. xD

I should also dust up there...

Hey, that's one badass TNBC statue you've got there(even if I can only see half of it)!
It is a nice statue (Jacks head even lights up). I guess it was originally some $80 dollar statue off the Disney online store. My moms friend said someone returned it, which resulted in it getting like a 50% discount making it around $40 dollars. She then got something like 40% off because of a holiday discount and then her employee discount, which made the statue come out to I believe $12 dollars, which she bought for me as a holiday gift.

That's quite a little mantle!!
I guess. The other side is where I keep the more interesting things. Like the special king figure I won from The Behemoth that has a unique drawing of the red knight on it (well, 2 of them actually) and is signed to me :3. Anyway, not to get too off topic, I still think planning to sell it is better than me stacking my deck of cards on top of a several decks of cards.

Ha!  Well, to each their own.  I just have too much stuff in life and am trying to keep as little as possible.  Seems like whenever I collect stuff, it too just collects dust!

Ugh, I have over 1500 coins right now and there isn't a goddamn thing in the physical rewards that's worth ordering.  I want to get Cubello and DRW but 350 coins for two digital downloads is a tough sell...ugh, just bring back the gold Nunchuck already!

There hasn't been anything but junk for a year now. I've been sitting on 7,000 pts now and had to waste 2,000 when points were expiring in July.

I hope my Platinum gets here before X-Mas as it's gift.

8Anyway, why are the game rewards so late this month? They last until the 8th? WTF

With the new account system coming up from nintendo I'm a little worried about buying things from eshop/ redeming LoZ:albw from the 3ds bundle before they start the update. My first 3ds and I don't own a wii/wiiU. I have Fire Emblem and LoZ:OoT to hold me over, so should I just wait before registering an account/ buying stuff?

I'd like to tell you that your worries are unfounded. I suspect they are, although who knows with Nintendo. :) Can you tell us/me exactly, specifically, what you're worried about?

I have an embarrassing amount of purchases on my 3DS, and I'm not really worried about it. I expect very little will actually change (for better or worse, mostly worse!) with the implementation of the account system, but hopefully it paves the way towards what we all want.

Our 3DS stuff will still be tied to our 3DS. I think you have nothing to worry about. Fire Emblem and Ocarina are amazing. However, I have been playing A Link Between Worlds, and... wow. If you are a fan of A Link to the Past in particular... you should probably be playing right now. :)

I'm most worried about putting money/ or tying games to my 3ds and then having issues when linking the new nintendo ID system to my 3ds and losing the ability to redownload those games, or the money left in my account not being on my 3ds. I think I'm just going to wait as a percaution (I'm hooked on fire emblem anyway, and the update is supposed to be out this Dec).

I appreciate the comment. Now if they have a sale i'll be a little less nervous opting in early.
