[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

My comments are usually half assed, because I end up writing reviews before doing them or got little to say. "Why did you buy A Link Between Worlds?" me "I like classic Zelda".
Yeah, I've tried to work it now so that I register when I'm starting a game, then can actually do the post-play thing after playing it. However, in practice, it doesn't always work that way! I have a ton of games I've never played! I wish Nintendo would just let you do the damn things when you want.

Got shipping notice for my platinum gift today. Not sure what I'm going to do with the cd but it'll probably never get opened.

(FYI - The above post is not an invitation to PM me begging/pleading/asking for it)

my posters came. the luigi one is big and meh. the zelda one is medium sized and gorgeous. the pikimin one is tiny and beautiful. i wish it were bigger. It only slightly bigger than those Hawaiian name posters.

Hey guys, did anyone get their Zelda: A Link Between Worlds posters yet? (I tried searching the topic.) Mine shipped on Nov. 27, but i haven't received mine yet. Should I assume it got lost?

Oh ok, thanks, I'll contact them. My platinum shipped Dec 11 too, I hope it gets here safely!

Just so people were aware, I purchased a hori plastic shell and put it on my 3dsXL, but the additional bulk it adds no longer makes the charging cradle work properly because the two contacts on the console do not line up with the cradle.  I know a lot of you purchased the cradles with CN points, anyone else have the hori shell and find a suitable work around (other than plugging it in directly to the charger)?

Wow, you could have been a teen-y, miniscule bit nicer there. Instead you came off sounding condescending and jerkoff-ish.
Why does every comment need to be overly kind and tender? I personally don't think Abbabaab said anything "over the line" and was just very direct and honest.

Personally speaking, if you're kind, people rarely get the point or ask a bunch more questions. If you just directly tell them off, they get pissy like their question was really well thought out, original and needed to be answered and you were just some douchebag ass that didn't treat them with the respect they deserve.

So if they had said something like "Those were the '2013' rewards and you got platinum in '2014', so you need to wait", they might ask "what will I get", "what kind of rewards are there usually?", "is there any way to use my status this term and get the OST?", or something like that.

Touche.

I guess I woke up feeling very empathetic.. because normally I wouldn't give 2 shits about it. #midolmoment :)

Nintendo Direct just showed a Luigi's Mansion statue coming to Club Nintendo. They didn't say when, I kinda assumed today? Been refreshing the page, nothing yet. WANT.

That's extremely disappointing....I really thought it would be 1000 coins max.

At least it's not very large, less than 5 inches, so I don't feel as upset that I won't be able to get one.

Went ahead and ordered the statue. Had around 2200 coins from buy, selling, and trading games so figured why the heck not.

That statue looks amazing, I missed the 3DS XL docks so I'm in.

These are the type of rewards we rarely get here so I don't feel 1500 coins is too much. There's nothing else that I currently want.

Finally something nice!  Yes, it's pricey, but it beats the junk that had been put out (let's not romanticize a plastic charging cradle).  I hadn't redeemed for anything in 2 years, but I grabbed a couple of these.

Do you really think that? The 3DS XL charging cradle sells for $19.99 (before shipping, which might not be included), which was 500 coins. This statue is 3x as expensive, which would put the comparative "value" at $60. Now, this thing is tiny and according to the description, is sub 5 inches. Yeah, it LOOKS like a more expensive statue that would cost a bit more money, but looks can be deceiving.

To be fair, if that logic panned out then the gold nunchuck should only be worth about $36, and those 3DS game cases from a while back would run at $10. I agree it's a ripoff, but you can't play on past returns like that.

If only prices on CN stuff really worked that way. The gold nunchuck would be sub-$40 and those 3DS cases from earlier this year would only cost $10 to get more.

It definitely looks like it is made from the same PVC stuff the Mario and the gang one was made of in 2007. I'm not spending 1500 coins on it lol.

1500 coins is abnormal. I will offer my green cradle, OoT 3D OST, MM OST, or whatever else for this damn figurine if anyone has the coinage.

Thanks yo.

they finally put up a cool new reward and it's 1500 coins. o_O it's free, extra, blah blah blah. I've had my coins sit there for almost two years. I hope they add more cool things at a reasonable exchange rate.

Honestly I think the price is fine, there are many people on here who aren't interested in the downloadable games and other Nintendo themed common items, and they have been itching for a unique CN item.  These are the people that have bought Wii / Wii U / DS / 3DS consoles and games in droves and have coin accounts in excess of 2000 or more.

This high price ensures that the common flipper won't snatch them up for resale before they have a chance to even know the reward is active.  The people at CN have caught on that pricing things too low doesn't do enough to drain the economy, and not everyone is interested in the digital content.

I routinely read complains on this thread that go to the tune of "I had 1000 coins expire this year with nothing unique to spend them on" and "I wish they would offer a statue like the past Plat reward", so here is their answer.  I still think they will complain though.

The problem is they went too far the other way. Even for those of us with mountains of coins, 1500 is steep for a PVC figure that's only a few inches tall.

Eh, it seems pretty expensive, but I've been holding onto these coins for years now. I don't think CN has had anything that I've been interested in for many years, save a poster set or two. I decided to order 1 simply because I don't know when they'll have something near as cool. I'll admit it was hard to spend part of my mound of coins (2040). Man....I buy so much Nintendo stuff. My wallet hurts :(

Just throwing it out there... I got 1,600+ coins (with over 2,000 in vouchers laying around) and I just can't justify the statue. I am sure there are people who can or will buy it just because it's unique, but I don't think the statue will appeal to many beyond "hey, it's something not completely awful to buy", which was a common statement with the 3DS XL cradle.

Actually, the high price ensures the item will remain in stock because you profit is going to be much lower. Sadly, CN does not follow a linear progression in value, so spending more coins does not guarantee more profit. Like the G&W ball game averages $25 - $50 on eBay and that was 1,200 coins*, where as the pouch goes for $8 - $25+ (the low ones are fairly abnormal) and only costs 250 coins. So if you were going to flip stuff, the pouch would have a better ROI (5 pouches is 50 coins more than the ball game and should guarantee you $40 dollars, which means you would at most lose around $10 dollars profit going this route when compared to the ball game). The same will be true for the Luigi figure. It will probably never go for as much as 1,500 coins worth of swag.

I do agree with your last statement though. There are people (like myself) who have the unique issue of a lot of coins and nothing to buy. However, this can lead to a debate of value vs inflation vs Nintendo just trying to remove liability vs desire to own. Last year we saw the Kirby medal, which was one of the coolest items offered in the US. The medal was small, but looked amazing and is pretty heavy. This coin was LE 1,000 (took like 8 hours to sell out too) and was only 600 coins. I would be ALL OVER the Luigi statue for 600 coins, consider it for 800, but 1,500 is excessive.

I'm STILL waiting for my Majoras Mask Soundtrack!

I basically quit the pursuit of racking up points after ordering it several months ago.... IIRC I was getting several emails to the effect of if I didn't use my points I would lose them within a few more days; which it seems was a fake out?

I ordered that soundtrack begrudgingly.  A month or so later the colored cradles hit, even if I had my coins still I doubt I would have gotten one anyways as they sold out so fast IIRC.

Now here I am looking at that Luigi statue saying how cool it looks and at the same time remembering how shitty this program is!

I did manage to snag a t-shirt and some pouches over the years I guess.

I also am waiting on my Majora's Mask Soundtrack as well. Some people have been getting notifications that theirs has shipped, but not me yet. No rush though. Also, if I read this correctly, the Majora's Mask Soundtrack was one of the yearly platinum rewards, and not a reward you'd spend coins on.

You may be right on that. Looking back it was in August that I redeemed for that platinum reward, should have gone for the posters!
