[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Sigh... if you actually buy games SO YOU CAN GET THE CODES you deserve to be tarred and feathered...you do not matter and have no say in this argument or about life in general (with the rare exception of a VERY cheap game to put you over the edge for a prize/plat).

Now, if you're still here and still mad please show me any other program which just flat out gives stuff away with no purchases at all. Sure some of the CN games are crap but some aren't (ALttP is crap)...some of the prizes are crap but some aren't (I'm sorry, say what you will but that t-shirt is awesome. I have one and wear it all the time, I'm started to wear it out so I'm probably going to order another one).

Anyway, let's also not forget the Wii U Deluxe program they have going on too since you can now use the points from it on your 3DS.
i bought a crap load of wii games for the club codes and they all worked = ) i eventually got banned from club nintendo (yes they banned me!!) but got reinstated and warned if it happened again its over for me they let me keep 3 accounts since i have 3 family members in my house. I ended up keeping the points from the accounts they closed which was about 700+ club points. wii fit is only 89 cents and all gamestops i hit during that period had club points in it unsed. I thought i would eventually have to throw the games away buuuuttt today i traded them to radioshack for profit = ) all is good in sonic land!

Just curious what other CAG might do: I'm already on platinum status this year, but only have 940 coins and would still like to get the big rewards... Should I still register my games or wait till the reset in summer?
I'm kind of in the same boat. I don't plan on buying any consoles this year, so getting plat isn't going to be as easy. I've missed the LbtW intend to buy and a couple of 10 coin bonuses because I want to hang on to as many points as I can for next year.

Did they ban you for registering a whole bunch of Wii Fit games? I've done several expecting the banhammer at any moment. Should I be worried?

I took the "mods" on Club Nintendo as a joke until a few weeks ago. I got banned for having a family account and redeeming the same games on. They also said I had a "suspicious" amount of systems registered (like 27 total lol) but long story short they unbanned me, however my luigi statue order got canceled, but they were still instock, so I was able to reorder. If it happened to you know if you ordered the luigi statue, worse scenario is you lose your luigi statue but get your coins back. You wouldn't get permanently banned from club nintendo for that

This is very interesting. Did they say you broke some kind of "terms of service" or something? Did they think you went to Gamestop and stole 27 consoles? :p I would think they would be happy your family has so many nintendo products :p

I didn't order the Luigi statue. I kept meaning to sit down and register points, but never got around to it. When I finally sat down to do enter my points, the luigi statue was sold out.

Maybe a tad OT: Why haven't they re-released the original Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games? 1-4? I'd love to kill me some golem for Edricks armor again.

Heck, that game got me subscribed to Nintendo Power through almost the entirity of the magazines life...
1-3 were re-done on the Game Boy Color, 4-6 were re-done on the DS.

i did a total of 9 wii fits got banned than reinstated lol never again will i try that guy gave me a hard time on the phone too lol i only have one account now with two extras (actual people living with me) but youll know when you been banned but nintendo is about high customer service so if it happens be nice and your account might be reinstated
Do we get new games tomorrow?
Assuming they don't have spontaneous network maintenance again, yeah we should.

It would be nice if they would give us eshop gift cards as rewards. I do like the games but at least half the time they're pure garbage. I'm not interested in their physical items but if I were, it's a pathetic showing with so much shit out of stock.

If Nintendo really wanted to sell the whole Club Nintendo thing, they'd release an exclusive game you couldn't get in the eShop. They've done it before for the Wii. One's still up in CN right now. Why not for the 3DS?

Ah, speculation before my morning coffee...

Are you talking about the grilling hands game?

Or at the very least they could start releasing some of the ambassador games through CN.

Also, I'm not mad that they never update on time, I mean big deal...I just find it odd I mean why even put the dates if they rarely live up to them?

For some reason, it isn't showing up when I go to that link.
I always link the "Earn Coins" page when new surveys are up, not directly to the survey link. That way it shows all the available ITB surveys at once (although all that is up currently is Bravely Default, though Tropical Freeze should be up in another week or so).

If you are already logged in to CN, you have to scroll down a bit past your current To Do list to see the ITB surveys (the "Thinking about these games?" section).

Yeah it looks like they just increased it a day. Not sure why...
my guess, who evers job it is to figure this shit out wasnt ready come monday morning, having not planned for the rewards change over to occur right after the weekend, so they needed an extra day to get it going.

I just read this article right now http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-secret-developers-wii-u-the-inside-story
and it reminded me to check for the new club nintendo games this month. It's interesting how they keep extending and delaying the club nintendo games. And have stuff like Mario Bros. 2 listed as a "Wii-U" game... I learned a lot from that article.
Alarm bells are ringing in my head.

How in the actual fuck did that article teach you anything about a one day delay on club Nintendo.

That wasn't the only one. There was a Punch-Out game and something else at one point.
Only one digital game has been available to purchase on the U.S. CN Rewards page that I'm aware of. The Punch-Out game you refer to was a Platinum reward the first CN year (might've been second, but think it was the first year). It wasn't available for sale on the Rewards page, though.

Yeah, I think it was put in as click-bait, since it has nothing to do with the CN rewards page. Reminds of those random facebook/youtube posts that say a little about the video and then try to get you to earn thousands working at home or something.

Rewards page now shows "Until Jan 13", but they failed to change the dates on the homepage.
They've changed it now.

I'm new to Club Nintendo, only having joined around Thanksgiving when I got my 3DS. But between this month and last month (when they were several days late changing from November's rewards to December's), I'm not too impressed with them so far. Is it always like this?

Cheap Ass Gamers hate him! See how he earned millions with this one weird trick!

I was talking about the systemic management problems with Nintendo setting up online stuff. Now when there are little hiccups with the club Nintendo website, it makes sense in the scope of the Nintendo company at this time. This is all my own conjecture. I don't care if you agree with me and I really don't give a crap if you click the article I posted. I just thought it was interesting. I really really like Nintendo and I do not like seeing them struggle.

Well since the games didnt change, I went ahead and grabbed Balloon Fight. I had 870 points and I only started last week, so I figure if they only offer new games every so often and would be best to get whatever wiiu games are available.

Okay.  For reference, hardware design in Japan some years ago is unlikely to be affecting Club Nintendo website maintenance in the U.S. now.  Like the people complaining about a digital system account setup to the NOA translation guy.

Bad management at the top levels of a company can trickle down and have a detrimental effect on something as small and inconsequential as website maintenance. I don't know if this is part of the delay today on club Nintendo. It's all my own conjecture and I'm probably incorrect.

The redemption codes we get on the club Nintendo website need to be generated somehow. They need to be able to be redeemed on the wii u and 3ds eshop. Someone somewhere along the chain missed their deadline both this month and last month. It's not a big deal. The new games will show up today or tomorrow. It may be a glitch.

I suspect it's more like getting your annual car inspection. If you wait until the first of the month, the day after your renewal expires you get an extra month free.

What's the weird trick? Pokeflip?

I always link the "Earn Coins" page when new surveys are up, not directly to the survey link. That way it shows all the available ITB surveys at once (although all that is up currently is Bravely Default, though Tropical Freeze should be up in another week or so).

If you are already logged in to CN, you have to scroll down a bit past your current To Do list to see the ITB surveys (the "Thinking about these games?" section).
Yep, nothing at all.

Only one digital game has been available to purchase on the U.S. CN Rewards page that I'm aware of. The Punch-Out game you refer to was a Platinum reward the first CN year (might've been second, but think it was the first year). It wasn't available for sale on the Rewards page, though.
I remember acquiring it via other means on my Wii, then deleting it. I remember another, but it might have been from either the UK or Japan.
