[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

So, the Nintendo account system automatically registered my Wii U a little while back. No expiration date on the product survey. I'm guessing though, that my Wii U won't be eligible for promotions in the future? (like how some people wanted to sit on their system codes in case Nintendo ran something)

Yeah I'd be interested in this as well, I guess mine registered when I added my Nintendo Id, there was no code in the box.

I would say Rollobobo is one of like 19 CAG's I don't hate, which is saying something. Also nice to see people giving out codes / coupons instead of asking the world for them.
I agree. He gave me the code that made me platinum 2 times now (2 years ago and this year-I forgot the deadline last year). This year I actually had a code he needed, so that worked out for both of us!

Shit. I forgot about the June 30th deadline. Stuck at gold this year. Guess this is the year the club Nintendo platinum prize is awesome. FML.

Rollorobo is a cool dood BTW.

A new year, and Platinum already... just barely anyways.

But I accidentally registered MK8 on one of my kids' accounts and not my fiance's, so I hit a snag getting Zelda WW for free.  Do I need to contact Nintendo about it or will an email show up regarding it?

If it works like the Pokemon promo, you'll have to contact Nintendo. I would recommend calling.

During the promotion to get a copy of Pokemon X or Y, I registered two copies of animal crossing on my kids accounts but it wouldn't let me redeem the pokemon prize. I emailed and waited. As the deadline approached, I received no response, so I called and took care of it. They were nice and friendly, let me specify which versions of the game I wanted, and sent the codes through email a few days later.

Yeah you have to contact them, I did the same thing...kids 12 or 13 and under are not allowed to purchase/redeem rewards. Platinum here too, with plenty more for the 2015 year :)

Just confirming whether or not it is safe to add coins to earn 2015 year to earn platinum now.  I remember last year it took a few days before folks were able to see their coins count towards platinum again.  Yes I have 600 coins to throw into this thing again  .

Also anyone else add a ridiculous amount of coins last platinum year?  Must be cause of all that nice swag we got, cases, posters, and luigi statue.

2014 Elite Status: Platinum (2710 coins)

It's safe in the sense that any coins added will definitely go towards 2015 now (I just did it myself for a survey expiring tomorrow). The problem is not running into any lag or crashes while trying to do so since the CN year just started and everybody else is going to be trying the exact same thing.

i wondering when we will get a new reward worth getting like the Luigi statue i got thousands of coins im just sitting on and dont expire anytime soon = , ( kinda jelous of the UK club nintendo right now lol i see 3 things i want from there!

I also did the surveys with my main account and my sub accounts (the ones that redeemed the free MK8 games) and its all adding towards 2015 platinum off my main account, no problem.  I did get a "whoops!" error on the last page of two surveys, but they didn't vanish or anything I just had to redo them a second time and it worked fine.

If you bought a new wii u the survey is good till like 2035 so can wait a bit.  I doubt we'll be seeing any sort of "buy game+system, get free game" deal the rest of this year, the system is selling like hotcakes right now and Super Smash will be a massive driver this fall.

2014 Elite Status: Platinum (2710 coins)
Due to lots of gamer friends and family members giving me codes, I usually go way over 600:

2014 Elite Status: Platinum (2690 coins)

2013 Elite Status: Platinum (2950 coins)

2012 Elite Status: Platinum (1580 coins)

2011 Elite Status: Platinum (1320 coins)

2010 Elite Status: Platinum (620 coins)

2009 Elite Status: Platinum (1100 coins)

My stash of valid CN codes is pretty thin this year, and some of the ones I have I'm debating on opening up the seal (KRtD and MP9 to be specific).  Definitely going to get a Wii U this CN year...

Last year I bought a used Wii-U and registered it on Club Nintendo, but I never got a survey. Could this be because the previous owner registered it or is it some sort of glitch?

I was only like 45 coins away from Platinum status... should have bought Shovel Knight and some random download games.

Oh well.

I found this odd, when I was checking to make sure I registered all my old games and taking the surveys to get to  platinum, that the DQ5 survey got me 40 or 50 pts. When all the other surveys got me 10. I don't remember ever getting that many points for a survey, but I never really payed attention before.

How long does it take a survey to show up after you enter the download code on the eShop? I just finally redeemed my Kirby's Adventure 3D Classics game on the 3DS about 20 minutes ago and it hasn't shown up yet, so I'm not sure if it isn't eligible for points because it was gotten as a CN reward or if I simply need to wait longer.

2014 Elite Status: Platinum (2710 coins)
2014 Elite Status: Platinum (850 coins)

I would have had my usual 600 ~ 700 coins average, but I had some deals come up that hurt me. After hitting around 600 coins people were getting rid of their LoZ WW HD and BW codes for very little and I pounced on each. Since I didn't want to wait and see if those codes would be active in 9 months, I used them and had to do the survey for around 100 more coins. I was also given a few digital review copies (like One Piece: Romance Dawn), which again forced me to redeem more coins than I wanted to. I would be irked (I got well over 600 in overflow), but I still got enough coins for this and probably next year without considering the games I buy.

Oh, no purchase survey? Ah well, if I'd have known that I wouldn't have bothered waiting til the 1st to download it.
I believe thats the case with all VC games now, but it states this on the CN site under downloads (shows Minish Cap VC with the +10*):

* Post-play surveys (+10) become available one week after download.
Registration survey (+10) available on select titles during first seven days after download.

Just counted up my unredeemed coins, & I actually should have about enough for platinum this year. :) Exciting.Wouldn't have even been platinum last year if not for all the 3DS & Wii U deals I found on here.

Going to echo everyone & say I'm hoping for a Amiibo but also kind of hoping for the SNES classic controller Japan & Europe got a few years back. Europe got the controller 4 years after Japan. It's now 4 years after Europe so..maybe. Not holding my breath for either, I plan to buy both the Amiibos (depending on price) & controller anyway.

I don't want to jinx it but I have this weird feeling that there's going to be something decent this year. My expectations are set to cheap poster or cd or digital download though of course. Maybe there will be something slightly better. What month do we usually find out and then everyone bitches and moans?

I want something LoZ themed that isn't a poster or a CD, but I'll settle for a CD. Otherwise something generically nintendo would be cool. Especially cool would be a Mario & Luigi prize that could be easily separated into 2 things, but again, not a poster.

Seriously, a CD is way better than a set of pins. I can actually use and enjoy a CD but here's to hoping for an exclusive amiibo, right? I mean, it'll never happen but they did that statue one year, maybe they'll do it to get people excited for wii and the amiibos.

We're getting a CD again, that's what your expectations should be set to.
The funny thing is that OSTs are one of the most requested Club Nintendo rewards. People only bitched about Majora's Mask because it was originally thought to be 1 disc and a paper sleeve, the OST was already free in the past, people remembered when we got OoT for free with the game and felt it was a massive decrease in value, the prizes took were announced significantly later than previous years and it was sort of random considering nothing Majora's Mask happened last year.

Most reveals were in July during the first week.

To each their own. I always thought the CD was worse because I could obtain the content through various methods and it ultimately made the CD just something to display (similar to the pins). However, one thing that was cool about the pins was the presentation. All the different boxes made different images, which I always found pretty cool. Plus you could use them to display your love of gaming or give them to others so they could show they love Bloopers and such. In a lot of ways I only thought last year was a bad prize, though I certainly believe Nintendo could have offered something cooler (like the Mario Pillow Japan got).

We're more likely to see a CN amiibo as another 1500-coin statue than a Platinum reward. Not that even that's likely, mind you.
I really don't see why everyone keeps mentioning a special CN Amiibo when it flies against EVERYTHING Nintendo has done the past 5+ years. For the most part, Club Nintendo has always been a program that offered gaming memorabilia with very few products that were designed to go with the actual system. If Nintendo had wanted to make the program fly that way, we probably would have saw a special Pokemon Scramble figure, AR cards (besides the one huge one and free pack) and a number of other products that could help move product.

Anyway, my advice is to just wait for the items to get announced and then express your disappointment. Bringing up cool ideas / concepts is just going to make you more disappointed when we get a bunch of previously offered digital games, a physical calendar, set of posters or some random alternate platinum reward.

I thought of the Amiibo simply because Nintendo is actually trying to sell the Wii U finally, offering bundles & the free game with MK8. An Amiibo would be another step in that direction.

That said, realistically an MK8 soundtrack will probably be one of the rewards. Just seems the most likely, IMO. Low expectations or not, I'm still going to hope for the Amiibo. I don't expect to be dissapointed because I'm just happy to be getting anything from platinum this year.

I only mentioned it to point out that it likely wasn't going to happen, so...

Would it really have ANY effect on the market? You figure, the average platinum status Club Nintendo member is a "hardcore" gamer who most likely already owns a Wii U and doesn't need to be swayed to support your products. Naturally giving them a special Amiibo would increase morale / give people that special happy feeling that Nintendo cares or thinks they're special, but it would not move Wii U systems in any real sense.

And I only quoted you because you were the last one to mention it. In a lot of ways my comment was more of a continuation of your point than anything else.

When does the new year start? I want to redeem a ton of codes on the first day
Today.

ok

This is my first year where I've hit platinum so I'm excited for any extra rewards.
Don't be. Seriously. You will save yourself so much heartbreak if you go into this with low expectations.

wow this page is glitched so hard

I've said it before, if they do offer another CD soundtrack as a reward, go with DKCTF and I'd be ecstatic.

No wait, that's too much enthusiasm to make it possible, I'll tone it down to not hating it if it was...
