[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

But all the somewhat decent platinum rewards go out of stock very fast, from what I've heard!
Pretty sure they never go out of stock until Nintendo closes the selection process. They don't actually produce the rewards until after everyone has selected, so they know how many to make of each item.

Ok im sure this isnt possible by any means but just want to clarify.

So i went to target for the B2G1 on WiiU games. Was going in for TW101 MK8 and SM3DW. Instead i came out with 3 copies of MK8 since they didnt have the others.

So i go home and find out that NOE has the same promotion but with different games(including TW101)

So my question today is... Is it possible at all to register a AMERICAN COPY of MK8 on the Europe Club Nintendo and Redeem it for TW101?

If this isnt possible then i haven't redeemed my free game yet if anyone wants to make a trade with it for TW101 i would really appreciate it.

So... there's nothing but junk left for physical rewards. Year after year I hoped nintendo would restock items for people who were being force to waste points before expiring. Looks like that is not going to happen.

When nintendo states "points expiring 6/30/14", does that mean end of day today or tomorrow?

Also, Kirby's Adventure explicitly states "wii u". Is that at all compatible with the wii?

Does anyone know if they remove/reduce the amount of coins older games are worth on the first?

I have a few Wii games that I haven't registered yet.  I don't want the codes to go to waste, but I'd rather wait for the new year.  I did as someone else said earlier in the thread and put a code in without taking the survey last week, but the survey said that it would expire on 6/29 instead of in July.  I'm just confused now.

Lots of stock out of stock at the moment...  I have to wonder if they're finally phasing stuff out to make room for new rewards, or if they're just in a "dwindling down" type of stage.  I know better than to hope for the best, but come July 1st when I put in my codes to reach platinum I'll be pretty close to 2000 coins yet again.  It'd be nice to have something to spend them on.

I've got 4,300 points expiring to waste now and the only thing left is garbage.

Oh wait, it's always been garbage available.

This happens every year. A group of people have a large number of coins expiring, so they either wait until something good gets added (which is always possible and completely subjective, so don't try to explain why these people are stupid or those items are great) or hit the end and want to cash out on something on the simple basis it's better than nothing. Naturally these items get depleted fast (Romeo apparently has 4,300, which alone is enough for almost 9 of the highest priced item currently listed) and the store is barren for a couple of days. This typically lasts a couple of weeks / months, then suddenly the store is restocked with things (some desirable, most not) again, followed by the standard 2 - 9 new items a year plan and cycling of different digital games every month.

You could always buy a bunch of digital games and share the love. Beats losing the points, getting some junk you don't want to resell and or taking away a prize someone might enjoy simply because you don't want to lose points.

And this is why I'm perfectly fine buying VC on Wii U, which also goes towards the digital promotion for $5 back once I spend/redeem $50.

My Wii U essentially came with a $5 code since I bought the Zelda bundle, then a couple of purchases, CN redemptions, & the free game from MK 8 gave me 3 more codes in the last couple of months.

Makes sense. You mentioning this just now jogged my memory and I do remember this happening every year.

I have learned now as I should have earlier check it the Club nintendo site often. If you see something you want. Redeem your coins for it or you will be kicking yourself. Also Don't wait till June b/c everyone else also got the email about their coins expiring and are also deciding which items they might be able to live with and will take the one that you thought you might get around to ordering.

i.e. it most likely won't be there anymore.

I just bought the Wonderful 101 for $10 w/ the help of a gift card to make platinum.

Curious to see what it will be and make sure that I make my decision before the time runs out otherwise you will hosed again.

When nintendo states "points expiring 6/30/14", does that mean end of day today? Or like their monthly updates, sometimes it's a few days late?

Also, Kirby's Adventure explicitly states "wii u". Is that at all compatible with the wii?

The page would say Wii/Wii U if it was at all compatible with the Wii. Like Mario Party 2's page states.

Also, I've no idea about when the points expire. I would bank it's sometime in the middle of the day, & not at the end of the day. Either way, I would do whatever you're gonna do with your points the day before. I doubt they'll put anything new up on the last day.

EDIT: so I haven't looked at a calander lately lol. Definitely use those points ASAP.

This will be I imagine a hard rule spend them as soon as you can if you want too.

the longer you wait the quicker things disappear.

I had points expiring so I used it to buy kirby's dream land and Kirby's adventure. The only problem is I don't have a wii u and it probably will be a while before I get one. Do these codes expire? If anyone wants it I am up for a trade

likely won't help but my Xbox Live Gold status expired on the 17th this month. I logged in to enter a prepaid to extend it and I was Silver. I haven't checked but that likely fucked over my X years of Gold # on my profile lol.

tldr, always do things the day before the listed expiration date.

Interesting, because I didn't have Gold for like five years and it has the right amount combining the before and after on mine. At least on the Xbone, never seen it or looked for it elsewhere.

No idea what it has to do with CN but yeah.

It would be so cool if the Platinum prize this year was an exclusive amiibo figure. I forget when platinum awards are shipped out but I thought it was around winter time - which is when amiibo is slated to release.

By sending us one they could maybe entice those on the fence to buy some when they release as well.

It makes a lot of sense to me but I know it's probably wishful thinking...

They ship "by the end of the year," which is usually December or late November.

Out of everything I've ever seen requested, this is quite possibly one of the most realistic and fair request I've seen, though I don't think Nintendo will do it. Generally speaking, Nintendo doesn't use Club Nintendo to really push certain games / consoles in any "real" way.

Gold colored Famicom or screw Nintendo and their stupid club. Just ignore this stack of game codes I have sitting on my desk prepped for tomorrow.

The whole point of Club Nintendo rewards is to get free Christmas presents for friends with low standards. Last year I got the 3 poster set and 2 people got a poster each for Christmas (I didn't know anyone who'd want a Pikmin poster sadly). Year before that it was the deck of playing cards which went into the stocking of my wife's daughter.

Hmmmm 10 pts from gold status? I remember liking the silver status reward better than the gold I ended up with last year. Should I figure out a way to get 10 pts or am I too late?

Yeah, a lot of people around here think getting no prize would have been better than the actual prizes.

I had points expiring so I used it to buy kirby's dream land and Kirby's adventure. The only problem is I don't have a wii u and it probably will be a while before I get one. Do these codes expire? If anyone wants it I am up for a trade
I emailed Club Nintendo over a year ago and they said the code would be good as long as the game wasn't removed from the store.

So I ran into GS real quick. They only had a used copy of ATK so I told the cashier I just wanted it for rewards coins. He opened it up and the slip was still in there, so he just gave it to me for free! Pretty cool of him. I immediately redeemed it on my phone and it worked, but I must have missed the deadline by a few minutes. I now have a 20 coin head start to next years gold status Yay! Snooze ya loose! Silver status still gets some sort of reward right? I can't remember.

*edit - I'm dumb, I forgot I spent my coins on 3ds dl's this morning, so it read zero! Made it to Gold with time to spare. Only 300 more to platinum! You still have time to redeem if you have to.

Any guesses?

I'm predicting another poster set or something Smash related for platinum, the ever-present calendar for gold as well as a choice between Pushmo, Kid Icarus 3D and a couple GB/GBC games.

...oh wait, I mean a postcard or Mario whoopee cushion for platinum, and either a digital calendar or Urban Champion for gold.

Care to predict something more likely, such as the next Mega Millions numbers?
I also predicted earlier today that a Central/South American or European country would win the World Cup. You can take that one to Vegas.

Nintendo is gonna offer a Wii for Platinum.

I think you mean a WiiU because people want those about as much as the Platinum rewards.
