[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

I think pricing will be what prevents Nintendo from selling retail tier titles. If we were to assume 250 = $10 and Nintendo would maintain a fixed $1 = 25 coins ratio, then even a cheap game like The Wonderful 101 or Super Luigi U would be 750 coins. Even if Nintendo gave a bigger discount as cost went up, it would probably be too high for most at 600 coins. Like I don't love my coins, but I would be hard pressed spending even 900 coins for a Mario Kart 8 voucher.
Good point. In that case, most people wouldn't bite. Of course they could do a psychological test to see if that makes kids run out to the store and want to buy the game outright? Wait...can't give Nintendo ideas.

I would instantly pay that much for a more current retail title. I have over 2000 coins sitting in my account. There seem to be very few physical rewards and the games they make available each month don't appeal to me since I already have a lot of them on the original hardware or on my Wii.

SF64 is kind of tempting, didn't get it the last time it was offered, but then again after getting all the stage medals back on the N64, I really don't have much desire to play it again.

On a side note, I'm still getting post play surveys for Wii and DS games, not sure if anyone else has mentioned this recently.

Curious, how long have you been saving those coins?

Why would somebody pay you $8 in credit when they can buy most of the games for $4.99 off the eShop.

Man, a lot of people complaining about Club Ninty. Can't say I blame you, but other than the digital year rewards, I haven't felt jilted yet. I guess folks don't remember they month they gave out Metroid AND Dillon's Rolling Western for 3DS. That was a good month. In the past year or so of being a member, I've gotten:

:3ds:
Legend of Zelda
Metroid
Dillon's Rolling Western
3D Classics Kirby
3D Classics Kid Icarus
Original Blue Reversible Pouch [top quality]
Card Case 18 Animal Crossing edition
$30 eShop credit from the FExSMT promo

:wiiu:
NES Remix
Dr. Luigi
New Super Mario Bros U
Pikmin 3

I would have loved to get one of the colored 3DS XL cradles while they were in stock, but they sold out FAST.

You have to remember that the digital prizes are extremely subjective and their value will differ from person to person, which leads to increased dissatisfaction. This problem is only amplified on CAG, since people are always trying to beat the system / find good deals, which makes it both easier to hoard coins and decreases the value you get from purchasable items. A perfect example of this is the 3DS ambassador status thing, since people on CAG realized you could pay the old MSRP and get the games and then get the price adjusted after the new MSRP was in place, giving them both bonuses. This is important to note, since Metroid was an ambassador title and if you already have it from that promotion, then Nintendo offering it means absolutely nothing. In fact, if you actually take the time to look at the games Nintendo offers, there is a noticeable* parallel between promotions they've done and games offered by Club Nintendo.

So in many was Nintendo takes a handful of titles and decides to decrease their value to nothing instead of actually trying to appease their fan base. Like how Nintendo offered Kirby's Adventure as an NES classic title and then offered the 3D version on CN and then offered the Wii U version on CN.

* This becomes even more obvious if you ignore console restrictions and just look at the titles themselves.

That kind of gave me an idea: What if CN gave surveys on what VC game should be on the monthly or End-of-year list?

Thanks to this thread, I just became Platinum in 30 minutes due to codes I never redeemed in the last year from already being 2014 plat. So far I've only redeemed for the Luigi statue...might start grabbing some digital games.

You really should hold off using codes unless they're about to expire, since Nintendo loves to do costly promotions. I mean, just one of those buy a 3DS + 1 game and get a free game promos can result in a 240+ coin increase and that will probably be a better deal than whatever else they offer this year.

before i get more people willing to sell me mario golf code for 4 most im paying is like 1 or 2 bucks tops
Just redeem the game since you said you already have the coins on your account.

Now CAGs are becoming too cheap to redeem CN coins they already have on their account.

Damn that's cheap and a new low.

Eh, if I had to guess, I would actually say that some people probably realized it was more profitable to simply sell their codes and then use their money to buy the game codes. Like your average 3DS game goes for a buck or two and Wii U is in the two plus range, which means you can simply buy prizes for a couple of bucks and then sell your code for a profit. Sure you miss out on platinum status, though I've been having a hard time selling my code for $10 on CAG, so you'll probably make more like this in the long run too.

I suppose about a year and a half. I checked during the crossover to the new year and none of my coins were expiring, so I just kept them in the account hoping for something like the Luigi statue to come back in to the physical rewards.

I wouldn't go off the number expiring, since I believe it updates once you crossover into a new literal year (so 1/1/15 not 7/1/14). I noticed this last year when it said I had 0 and then something like 150 were expiring. This was later confirmed when I looked into what coins I had expiring this year (double checked just now) and it says zero, even though that is literally impossible given I had 150 coins expiring last year and have had platinum status since 2011, so this year I should have at least 600 coins expiring.

Oh... Sheesh thanks for the heads up! Grrrrrr.....

I guess I'm not totally sure if what you mean...but I have loads of unused codes still just from buying 3ds games and that's not even from having a family account.

Damn...not too thrilled about this months 3DS rewards. Only one I'm considering is Dr. Mario. Maybe I should have gotten Kid Icarus. Too late now :(

RIP physical Club Nintendo Rewards. Not complaining, but I think between this and the platinum rewards, we're officially heading toward everything being digital.

I'm really starting to wonder if I should grab an animal crossing pouch & those Kirby patches while I can still get physical items... They aren't rewards that I'd be particularly happy with but I like them more than spending them on a $5 game that I already own 3 times over.
