Club Nintendo

^^^ I was being facetious and exaggerating with my "double points" comment. I think Nintendo is using this as a backwards swipe at used game sales, and allowing too much UPC registration would defeat that purpose.

I don't think there will be a lot of people registering used games this way. I agree I shouldn't do it, though. I'll just do it for the ones we did buy new and lost the cards. However I'll certainly register used games that have their reg cards in them!
That.

Not that "everyone" can double their coins, but every product sold can now, in theory, be doubled. If I register all my games, then, trade them in (or resell them on eBay), they can be re-registered using this UPC method by whomever buys them down the road. The intent of this program is to reward the initial owners - those who have given the money to Nintendo and helped the sales of that particular title. Something that allows people to register used copied on a regular basis probably won't last very long.
Maybe this would happen if Microsoft offered a similar service, or Sony Rewards, but I doubt it will with Nintendo. The company has crazy brand loyalty, not to mention a lack of 'hardcore' gamers' - I doubt there will be much exploitation. I honestly don't see the thirty-something soccer mom who bought Wii Fit to shed those jelly rolls purchasing bulk used games for Club Nintendo points.
Hopefully, Nintendo limits this to a reasonable amount per customer.
I can't help but assume that they do... :)

I'll probably register the used copy of Endless Ocean I have via the UPC, because it's pretty darn unlikely the original owner registered it - I got this game before Club Nintendo was here. Nobody had a reason to register games then. Then we have 2 or 3 DS games that we bought new that my kids long ago lost the manuals and other paperwork for, but we do have the cases still. I can't remember if we've got 2 or 3 such games. Need to check. Anyway, that will give us another 110 to 140 points and put us up to either 550 or 580 points. Yeah! I'm hoping to buy Wii Fit via the current trade 2 deal at Gamestop if I'm lucky and that would put us over 600. I'll be ordering the Animal Crossing cards as soon as we get to 500!

Incidentally, what are "Hanafuda cards"?

Playing cards. It's what Nintendo made when they first started back in the 1800s.
Yup - this is going to ruin it for those who legitimately lose their PIN code (or, perhaps, buy a new game that, for some reason, doesn't have one...).

Hopefully, Nintendo limits this to a reasonable amount per customer.
There's a reason I didn't post the address they gave me. :)

I'm pretty sure they flagged my account stating that they can expect a Nintendogs Chihuahua UPC from me, if I decide to go through with it.

I didn't want Nintendo to be suddenly flooded with UPCs because of me...but I did want to help out those who either didn't get one or may have lost the code from their legitimate new copy of a game by mentioning they could call Nintendo to discuss options.

Looks like I have post play surveys as well for all of my Virtual Console/WiiWare titles in addition to the games I registered at the beginning. The only one I don't have one for is something I downloaded two weeks ago.

I had some post play surveys for 1 Wii game and a few DS games. None for my 1 VC game that qualifies that I got at Christmas though. Up to 630, trying to get Game & Watch.

Maybe it's time for me to buy World of Goo and/or Tetris Party and/or MegaMan 3. At this point I'm not buying anything unless I know I'm going to get my coins!
Here's some pictures of the Animal Crossing playing cards as promised:
Just got mine in the mail today as well. They are really cool.

This is the only card that needs to be shown. Of course KK is the Ace of Spades!

This just isn't right. You are making me feel the need to buy a new game. I don't need a new game now, but I need a new game now. Those cards are what I want.

Don't hate me but all of my eligible games were on there, even my points for Tetris Party. So no problems whatsoever doing the boring surveys :applause:

I'm 40 points away from platinum status. Darn, I need to buy a Wii game!

I think I'll be holding off on all my post-play surveys, though I'm going to check with customer service to make sure those expiration dates are the only cutoffs I need to worry about.

I'm sure I'll be buying some more (new) first-party games to get me over 800 points for hanafuda cards between now and July, so I'd rather use those surveys for 2009 points.

It looks like the post play surveys (and maybe all surveys) expire 5 years after a game's release date. Coins are good for 2 Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30) before they expire.

You should be fine holding off until after this Club Nintendo year ends to do the post play surveys.

I wonder if Gold and Platinum members are going to get the same "special gift" at the end of the Club year? It would suck if that is the case because I would have just registered 600 points worth of stuff and waited for the next Club year to enter the other games.

I actually didn't read what you folks were talking about carefully. I though you were talking about WiiWare/VC surveys. I had post-play surveys too! Well, only 2 of them, but better then nothing. Now up to 460. Just a breath away from 500 and those wonderful Animal Crossing cards. Do all registered coin-earning games eventually get post-play surveys, or just some? If all, then the post-play surveys will eventually put me up to 500 once I get them all.

Not all of my games have post play surveys, but the games I registered the earliest (before the site went completely down before the New Year) now have them. I'm assuming all of them will as time goes by.

I got post-play surveys for all my previously registered games, but when I go to try and complete the survey it is blank. Nothing for my VC/WiiWare purchases yet.

*edit* Surveys are showing up now - 10 points each. I also had forgotten to register Wii Fit - I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but that got me 80 points.

i have an unused SUPER MARIO GALAXY PIN CODE and an unused ZELDA:TWILIGHT PRINCESS CODE
PM if you want to trade any of these for a wii game code or 2 DS codes

How did I miss this whole Club Nintendo thing? Frick! I'll be working on this tomorrow as I have tons of codes left unused. Not sure what I want, but I should definitely have enough points to grab myself something nice.
So, why don't I have any surveys popped up?
Hmm?
Check your account - I was having the same problems as you, with none of the surveys coming up for games that were migrated over from the My Nintendo account. I just checked my account, and all of the surveys are now in my "To Do" list.

I have the post-play surveys, but I STILL do not have the previously registered game surveys. Games like Wii Fit that I registered and was never given the coins for it.

This is ridiculous.

Have you contacted Nintendo? After I contacted them a few weeks ago, I received a couple of e-mails updating me on the issue and that they resolved it. Perhaps Nintendo just needs to be made aware of the specific problem in your account.

It should probably be noted that the product registration surveys are mixed in with the post-play surveys, so if I didn't look closely, I'd assume that they weren't there.

This may have been answered and I just missed it - do we only get coin-earning post-play surveys for the games that initially gave us coins, or will all registered games eventually generate post-play surveys for more coins?

I can't believe they have such tiny pictures of the items at Club Nintendo. I'd love to see what those damn Hanafuda cards actually look like. Why in the world are they so small?

I only got post-play surveys for games I registered after Club Nintendo went live. Any I registered before there was Club Nintendo didn't give me a post-play survey. Oh well. I still got +50 coins.

FINALLY!!!
My product registration surveys are FINALLY there along with many more post play surveys!!

I have about 1100+ points sitting there O_O
Ontop of my current 800...:whistle2:k..

Hooray for G&W and the DS case..and I'll keep the remaining points...just in case...

I had 4 more post-play surveys today. I should be getting 6 more in time. We're up to 500 points right now and with the 6 to come we'll be up to 560. Plus I picked up a WiiFit yesterday and it's 80 points plus 10 for it's post-play will put us up to 650 and platinum status. Hooray! Now the only question will be... Animal Crossing cards now or Hanafuda cards later? Hmmm.... Well, or something else - I suppose my kids are going to have to have a say in this, seeing how many of the games that went into this are theirs. :)

EDIT: Somebody needs to update the OP with links to the pictures folks have provided of the spoils. The pics at the Club Nintendo site are ridiculously inadequate. Having all the user-provided better pics in the OP would be a good thing.

EDIT2: Note that our copy of Kirby Superstar Ultra was registered on 12/17/08 and I had a post-play for it today. I can't say for certain when the post-play showed up, but I know it wasn't there the last time I checked, which was 1/16/08. My guess is that they probably show up approximately one month later.

Doh. So I show my kids the Club Nintendo site finally and the Animal Crossing cards and... blank stares. No... worse. Like shock or something. Hanafuda cards? Just as bad. I think they couldn't believe I was showing them to them. What caught their fancy was the Mario game case + rainbow stylus set, the one with the goomba. Well, most of the points did come from their games. I told them, OK, but next time we get to 500 points, we are getting the Animal Crossing cards!!! :) Of course, by then the probably won't be available any more.

In any case they have to wait until our next set of post-play surveys come in. We are up to 580 points after registering our Wii Fit last night and filling out the Kirby Superstar Ultra post-play which they had fun doing, although these surveys aren't written for two (or more kids) to answer at once, so some compromises had to be made, plus there are questions such as "age". We went with the youngest. We have 70 more points worth of post-play surveys coming our way, 60 of which I think should arrive near the end of this month. Also have about 3 or 4 DS games that we bought new but don't have the reg cards for that when I get a chance I'm going to call Nintendo about getting registered via UPC, but I suppose I should wait on that until after June.

I have a bunch of surveys left, 740 coins, and I already ordered G&W. I have no idea what else I want. Maybe I'll get the DS case. :whistle2:k

You mean the "Nintendo DS Lite Case" system case? That seems like a waste to me. There are plenty of cases like that available via normal means and this one doesn't even seem to have any Club Nintendo markings on it or anything to make it unique. At least nothing substantial - just that little tag on the end. It doesn't seem like anything special, but that's just IMHO. If nothing else available floats your boat, maybe save the points for the next round if you can stand the wait?
