Is Mind the Gap out in trades yet or is it still down to single issues?
I think that only three issues have come out so far.
Guess I'll wait then.

I wish a new Locke and Key would come out. Hell, if I'm making wishes, I want a new Umbrella Academy. :(
I can't second the wish for a new Umbrella Academy hard enough...
What can I say, Teddie isn't afraid to bear it all, and look good doing it. (I am a little surprised you came across it here first and not in the GGT, haha).
I just noticed it now. That bulge is just... wrong.
That bulge is just... wrong.
I really don't see how it's any different than him wearing a speedo, it would show just as much.

More on topic, and semi-related, I'm happy that the two major comic publishers as well as a lot of independent stuff I've read lately has featured a lot more gay and lesbian characters, but there still are literally almost no transgender characters in American comics. I mean I literally adore Xavin from Runaways, she was so amazing and it made me love Runaways even more than I thought I could. I think it's also what made the 3rd series of Runaways that much worse, it was already fairly weak and the constant churn of creative teams didn't help, but I hated what felt to me like Xavin being written out of the story, it was like the new creative teams didn't know how to write her or what to do with her so they decided to just send her away, but when I finished reading the third series I wasn't too surprised since the only really memorable events from it were when they were killing off or getting rid of characters.

I never really pay attention to gay or lesbian characters in the comic books I read. A great characters is a great character, no matter what their sexual preference, or gender for that matter, is. I will say this, though, a lot of comics seem to be tossing LBGT characters into the books for no reason.

Oh I totally agree, any character can be great, but I also feel like there was a lot of shying away from LGBT characters because publishers assumed that the target audience wouldn't be receptive to them, I'm glad that more authors are willing to try writing them. Now sure some of the recent ones have been somewhat weak and some that are clearly marketing ploys but if more people are willing to write them then we are bound to see more that are handled correctly, or at least that's how I feel. But I mean we can lump them together as LGBT characters as a collective but transgender characters are still almost non-existent (Xavin is actually the only one I can name from American comics I've read), and I'm not really sure why aside from the fact that authors maybe don't think they can write that type of character, or maybe publishers think that many readers who are accepting of LGB characters are still scared away by transgender ones.

In that sense I feel like Japanese comics are a bit more progressive, even if there are many instances of crossdressing or somewhat transgender characters that are used for comic relief, at least they are including them in their comics; and ultimately I think that willingness to include the subject has helped them to integrate more serious transgender characters into their stories whereas American comics seem to be taking the stance of just avoiding the subject matter altogether.

+1 Gimmick to sell more books in the US. Still waiting for Alpha Flight 106 to skyrocket in value.

It's definitely one of my favorite series. I really wish there were more of them.

It's not like heterosexual relationships aren't exploited to try and sell books too (in fact I'd say when it comes to the big two a large majority of anything they do is an exploit to try and bring in readers). And it isn't like heterosexual relationships in comics aren't forced too, I mean just look at Justice League 12.

Superman: "We're not like anyone."
Wonder Woman: "People like us are really alone, aren't we?"
Wonder Woman: "Do you ever feel alone?"
Superman: "Of course, I... do."
*Passionate kiss*

Really pulling on my heart strings with that one.

I am so close to just dropping Justice League because in all honesty I've felt like a lot of the characters are being written with very little personality in it basically from the beginning with the only thing interesting holding the story together being the action, and this whole relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman seems like it is going to be awful if it continues to be written like the above excerpt.

JLA looks like a mess too from the characters that are going to make it up alone, like could they have picked a more random collection of heroes for it? (I anticipate JLA is probably going to crater as hard as the JLI book which it's trying to replace).

The upcoming JLA looks pretty cool (minus Vibe, what a fucking terrible character) mostly because of Martian Manhunter, which I must confess, is the reason I dropped Justice League after two issues. Steel is cool and everything, but he is a pathetic replacement for MM. Plus, I really don't like any of the characters anymore except Batman.

Justice League Dark, as far as I am concerned, is the best Justice League book on the market.

While I am happy at the potential of some better stories for MM, Hawkman and Green Arrow, I have to say that Stargirl seems a bit out of place in that new JLA lineup. I am glad they are re-introducing the character to the New 52, but to put her smiling face on a team that they are billing as "dangerous" seems odd to me.

Well, to be fair, Stargirl is Geoff Johns creation (he created her shortly after the death of his sister) so it is only natural that he debuts on the team she was originally on. But yeah, the whole dangerous thing gets thrown out of the winding because Vibe is on the team.

Hey guys I'm looking to buy some graphic novels. If you have any of these to get rid of please pm me as I don't check this thread often thanks.

Batman: Year One
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: The Long Halloween
Dark victory
Batman: Haunted Knight
The Marquis: Inferno by Guy Davis
Black Hole by Charles Burns
American Vampire Vol. 1 by Scott Snyder
X-Force: Sex and Violence 1-3

Picked up Thanos Quest last night and read right through it. I thought it was a good read and now I'm looking forward to Infinity Gauntlet. Definitely worth it if you know nothing about Thanos and how he got his gems.

I saw they re-released Thanos Quest. One of the few Thanos stories I never read. I noticed at my local comic shop the price for the original went up after the Avengers movie came out.

Wonder how much I can get for my 1st app of Thanos comic in Iron Man # 55

Diggin' Hickman's Line-up for the newly bi-weekly Avengers (Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk to get the entire movie line-up there, and toss in Spider-Woman, Spider-Man, Falcon, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, and toss in Sunspot and Cannonball fromt the New Mutants, and there are more to be revealed).

I would say Legit so far with the announced books/creative teams/line-ups. However, it all really depends on on Avengers vs X-men wraps up.

That B&N B2G1 free on DC Comics sale looks pretty awesome since the B2G1 discount is on top of whatever discount is already applied to each item. Looking at my Amazon Saved to Cart list, there's quite a few titles I'm interested in. I'm only hesitant on pulling the trigger because one order will turn into two, which will turn into more than I really need atm.

Currently in my cart so far:
Catwoman: When in Rome
Batman: The Long Halloween
Batman: Dark Victory

Saved Items:
Batman: No Man's Land Vol 1- 4 (4 is on pre-order)
Batman: Black Mirror
Batman: Hush
Y: The Last Man Deluxe Edition Vol 1 - 5 (for whatever reason vol 3 is the only one that isn't discounted atm)

Ideally vol 3 of Y would be discounted so I can order all of No Man's Land and Y and have a nice number of items divisible by 3. Then I'd order Black Mirror, Hush and something else. I thought about the Batman: Knightfall collections but from what I've read, they omitted a few somewhat key issues and it's printed on newspaper-like stock. Luckily the sale lasts till Nov. 16 so I have plenty of time to consider. Just have to hope prices don't rise in the meantime.

*Looking again at the fine print, it looks like you can qualify for the promo only "once per customer." Don't know if you can bypass that just by making a new account or if it further checks the credit card or address.

I like how Hickman's run on Fantastic Four is wrapping everything up. Even going as far to place a band-aid to Millar's botched run.

Also read a few issues of X-Factor. Loving the fact it's not a tie in. And like FF it's been wrapping up a lot of loose ends. Still, when will we know the relationship between Longshot and Shatterstar? It's been killing me.

And finally another series ending: Avengers Academy. Way too soon. After AA ends I have a feeling we're not seeing some of these guys again. Shame, since the book is finally picking up the pace.

I know, man, I am gonna miss Avengers Academy far more than any other run/series ending or has ended the past few years. I'm really hoping a few of the characters are on these revamped Avengers teams, but it is looking pretty bleak for that.

Also, when does that B2G1 Free sale on the DC Comics end? I'd like to get Batman Earth One and a few of the New 52 series that I missed.

So it doesn't seem like it's only one per customer on the B&N B2G1 free sale. Unless you're ordering more than three titles that are similar enough in price you'd probably want to make multiple orders to maximize your savings. I just placed an order for Batman: No Man's Land vol 1, 2 and 4 and I'm still able to get the B2G1 discount all the way through to the page with the checkout button.

I'm looking to slowly but surely unload a vast majority of my comics to free up some space in my house. Aside from e-bay, are they any good comic related sites with high traffic buy/sell/trade forums?

With high traffic? No. Comic Book Resources has a trade thread but people don't exactly chomp at the bit. Bendis Board has an even slower trade thread. Both those forums are technically no-sell too, trading only, but I'm sure people exchange money for books and just don't post about it. A few other forums have similar threads that get no activity.

Why not try to unload some here first, whether in this thread or in the trade list forum and throw a link here. I'd be interested to see what you have. I've had some good experiences trading and buying comic books over CAG.

I'd also be interested in this. I have a bunch of comics I'd like to unload and have had no success on CAG.
Didn't someone try to get a comic sale going? Did it ever materialize?
There was a comic book lowball a few months back. Maybe there should be another one.
I've had a link to all my comics for sale in my sig for a couple years now. Not one bite.
I have signatures turned off. If you post it in the thread/PM it to me I'll at least take a look...

Thanks for the info. I have too much to list at once. I've been collecting for 15 of the past 20 years (Marvel, DC, DH, Image, Vertigo, etc). Just have to let most of them go for space.

If someone starts up a Buy/Sell/Trade Thread, I'll slowly but surely start to list them there. In the meantime if you have a wants list of holes you are trying to fill in your collection, I could let you know fairly quickly what issues I have.
