Update 7/26: C&C Will be Revolutionized on 8/7/07
cnc-revolution.jpg

Our buddies over at Gamertag Radio received an interesting email today. It's contents can be summarized in the image above. Yes, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars will be revolutionized on August 7. What the hell does that mean? We have no earthly idea (and no unearthly idea for that matter). Gamertag Radio is stumped, too. All we do know is that whatever it is, you can uncover more info on August 7 at the official C&C3 website. We do, however, have some concrete details on the upcoming patch for C&C3. The patch is set to fix three major exploits in the game and should be available "soon." Alright, so maybe it's not concrete per se, but it's better than nothing, right?

Update 11/16: Its Official

Chertsey, UK November 16, 2006 – Electronic Arts Inc., (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars™ (C&C 3) is in development for the Xbox 360™ videogame and entertainment system. C&C 3 boasts an intuitive console-specific control scheme, fast-action strategy gameplay, deep single player campaign, and an immersive multiplayer experience featuring massive battles where you take control of large armies on the battlefield of the future.

“The Command & Conquer series finally makes its return to the console after seven years,” said Mike Verdu, Executive Producer at EALA. “C&C 3 will help expand the RTS genre on the Xbox 360, building off of the foundation laid by the development of The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II. EA is evolving the console controls so that strategy gaming plays and feels native to the platform.”

“C&C 3 is a perfect fit for the Xbox 360,“ said Mike Glosecki, Senior Producer at EALA. “Xbox 360 players will enjoy the action-packed online play and watching the epic Sci-Fi story of the game unfold as they play through the single player campaign.”

The year is 2047 and the stakes could not be higher. Tiberium—a self-replicating alien substance that has infected the Earth—is spreading like a radioactive ice age. The Global Defense Initiative, a high-tech alliance of the world’s most advanced nations, is fighting to contain Tiberium, but Kane, the megalomaniacal leader of The Brotherhood of Nod has other plans for Earth. Kane’s secret society turned superpower is bent on using Tiberium to take control and transform humanity into his twisted vision of the future. All-out war rages over Tiberium and the fate of the planet rests in the balance.

The epic story of C&C 3, set in the Tiberium Universe, is seamlessly tied together with live action, high-definition video sequences featuring top Hollywood talent including Tricia Helfer, Josh Holloway, Michael Ironside, Billy Dee Williams, Grace Park, and more!

C&C 3 will be one of the most robust titles on Xbox LIVE™**, with a steady stream of downloadable content on Marketplace. The first dashboard theme featuring amazing concept art from the development team will be available soon.

From the team at EALA who brought you the critically-acclaimed The Lord of the Rings™, The Battle for Middle-earth™ II for the Xbox 360, C&C 3 will ship worldwide in 2007 for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC. This product is not yet rated by PEGI. For more information, please visit www.CommandAndConquer.EA.com.

*PC SCREENSHOTS*

President of Creative Development for Electronic Arts and one of the co-founders of Westwood Studios, has revealed that EA plans to bring Command & Conquer 3 to the Xbox 360:

"and I know for a fact that they are doing this because these are the same guys, the same team, who's doing Command & Conquer 3 and they're definitely going to release it for the 360, you heard it here. And so what they are doing is they are really using Battle for Middle-earth II to sort of use it as a spring board to test, to see, how it is going to work for Command & Conquer 3, so they are trying to almost use this [BFMEII] as a beta; a very good beta"

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars takes the popular series back to its roots in the Tiberium universe and features the fast, fluid gameplay that Command & Conquer is known for and a gripping story that will redefine storytelling in RTS games.

Definately good news for me, since I can't play it on my crappy PC.
This is definitely the best news I've heard for the 360 in a while. Now if they could just somehow get C&C: Renegade a sequal or port to 360...
Holy shit- if they released Renegade for the Xbox 360 I'd buy two 360's the day that it was released so my wife and I could play together online without all the fucking cheaters that currently play online. Reguard is good, but it isn't infalible.

cant you already use a usb mouse?

and i will most likely get this on my pc... controls are just 10x easier.

Its being created by the same people that are bringing LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II, so it would most likely have the same control options, which we will find out once Battle for Middle Earth II releases, or a demo that may come our way.

Technically for the 360 should be able to use a mouse. They just don't activate it to make it an "even playing field"

Bah, I think MS should just pull the trigger and release a keyboard and mouse combo for the 360. That's the one thing holding the system back with all these PC ports.
if they cant get STARCRAFT to play good on consoles, CC has no chance whatsoever.
I think the last console Starcraft was attempted on was the N64, idiot.
Great news, lets hope the controls work well for these games
Simply allow Keyboard and Mouse control and all is good :D
Simply allow Keyboard and Mouse control and all is good :D
I'm actually very excited that they are doing this with controller settings instead of keyboard. I dont want to have to buy a keyboard and mouse if they can get it to work right on a controller, this way I can sit back and relax while playing some C&C.

Definitely excited about the game, but I'll more than likely be picking it up for PC, so probably won't buy a 360 copy too.
still wont made up for EA killing Westwood Studios
Agreed, Generals sucked compared to all the other C&Cs, but I'll be getting this anyway.

Nox multiplayer was the most amazing thing to ever come from Westwood IMO.

Is C&C series anything like Starcraft? I'm talking about the pace, simplicity, and action. I've tried Age of Empires 2, Warcraft 2/3, and more recently, the demo for LoTR BfME2. Doesn't spark like SC.

I would say it is pretty similar to Starcraft/Warcraft games. Totally not Age of Empires.

Some new minor details from Godfree at Gamertag radio

http://www.gamertagradio.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?t=3112

I got some new details about Command & Conquer 3 for the Xbox 360. Remember you can learn more about the game at: Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars Official Site

1)Xbox Live Vision camera: Yes! On the multiplayer game lobby before the battle starts you can see other players in the game.

2)New game modes: Just like in LOTR Battle for Middle Earth II (Xbox 360 version) they will have new game modes such as King Of The Hill, and Capture & Hold. These modes are exclusive to the Xbox 360.

3)Xbox 360 Achievements: The only one that we know so far is called "Mr Know It All!". So how you can get this achievement? By skipping the tutorial of the game. This is one of many bad achievements you can get from the game.

4)Xbox live Marketplace: C&C 3 dashboard themes coming soon sometime this year.

Stay tuned for more details about the game on GTR!

I'm still excited about this game but then again worried on how it will play. I know that the LOTR demo is out there but I didnt give it enough time because the game didnt interest me at all but C&C I'll have to give it a shot or upgrade my PC.

If they keep the micro aspect from Generals, it's really going to be hard for me to fathom playing it on the 360. Going back to regular, tank rushing goodness that was Red Alert, it should be fine.

I have a 5 year old PC that's only seen a 6600 GT upgrade just to keep up with DX9. It's quite playable, you guys should give it a shot. You can lower the graphics pretty far but me, I can run it with everything turned on except AA at 1024. The frame rate isn't 60 fps and the game runs slower, but consistently but still playable. Try it :)

after trying the BFME2 controls fuck it, go PC. They should just screw the "level playing field" and enable mouse + kb controls. The only reason they dont is because they dont want to cannibalise whats left of PC sales.

woah what the...it's been December since I posted that? I remember posting that little thing and it feels like yesterday 0_o

Sweet, can't wait to play it. I own every C&C game made. Big fan. Though my two computers are not good enough to run C&C3 unfortunately. So this'll be good for me.

Just curious, how long do demos take to download? I actually haven't downloaded any off XBL yet cause I'm waiting till my exams are over to start up on Live.

I'm all over the demo. This will be the element that decides if I buy it or not. I want the game; I just don't know how well the port is.
Ya when someone gets to try it say how it is and how long it took to d/l :p
Download times are totally different depending on time of day / speed of personal network connection. I regularly download games in 5-10 minutes here at school that take most people 40 minutes - one hour just because our connection is ridiculous. The only real way to figure out how long it will take is to dl it, see how long it takes for you to download about 5% and then do the math.

Ya I know that it's different for everyone, of course, and who's hosting the file or whatever. The 40-1 hr estimate sounds like it'd relate to me, I haven't downloaded any demos on XBL yet, so I was curious :p
