CompUSA Red Star Inventory Blowout B&M YMMV

little_krampy

CAGiversary!
CompUSA has been clearancing some inventory for some time now. I don't know if this is a new promo that I stumbled upon or not. But I noticed on the website there is a red star thing going on right now where you save an additional 25% off the clearance price. AND you can check your local stores inventory online! Just looking through a few Wisconsin stores...which I'm not even close to unfortunately...I see some nice deals on hardware. Just thought I'd mention this so hopefully some of you CAGs can score some nice deals.

Link to store selection page
- Select your state
- then on the next page click on "See this store's listing of blowout items"

Examples from Brookfield location:
Norwood P42BSAT 42-inch Plasma EDTV $899.98 - $225.00 = $674.98 (2 in stock)
Game Boy Advance SP, Onyx $49.98 - $12.50 = $37.48 (2 in stock)
GameCube, Platinum Limited Edition $74.98 - $18.75 = $56.23 (4 in stock)

Examples from Madison location:
Magnavox 15MF150V/37 15-inch LCD TV $249.98 - $62.50 = $187.48 (2 in stock)
Xbox Console $99.98 - $25.00 = $74.98 (2 in stock)

Just looking through some other stores I've seen some of the following:
GB Micro Black for $69.98 - $17.50 = $52.48
DS Electric Blue for $119.98 - $30 = $89.98
PS2 Slimline for $129.98 - $32.50 = $97.48
PSP for $179.98 - $45 = $134.98

Might want to try using this too
$10 off $100 purchase

wow great deal...san mateo is a bit of a drive for me, anyone know if the CompUSA in South San Francisco has this same deal? thats where i got in on this inventory sale last time

Don't know how I missed this one, I've been looking for a cheap PS2 slimline.

The blowout lists are still online. One of my local stores still has the PS2 slimline on their blowout list for 129.98, which was updated this morning at 5am. So is it officially over and they're just really bad at updating the site or what?

I called the store and had them tell me what it rang up as on the register and, of course, it was full price.

The 25% was only for a limited time, perhaps they will have another blowout weekend and you'll be able to get the ps2 slim for $100.

Just to clarify, the blowout lists have always been there and will continue to be up until the items are gone. However, the 25% off was a promo during the first week of September. They had a similar promo last week that was 20% off. I would wait until you see that promo again to make a move on the PS2 Slim. Right now, everything is full (clearance) price on the blowout lists.
The 3 for 20 is defintely YMMV. I live in the area as well, and the San Mateo store has been doing this for a bit. They have had those "clerance" carts up there forever, they just usually dont have anything worth while.
they did a major clean up on the video games section. they cleared out the GC, DS, GBA, PS2 games, so it really looked empty compared to last time i was there (like a month ago).

as for the San Bruno branch, they've cleared it out like months ago. so i just walk across the SEARS store and grab some decent ones.

it's funny, i live in San Jose, the San Jose store has literally none, with Stevens Creek closing, there's nothing else for me to do but head up north and drive to the peninsula. :bomb:

FYI, my CompUSA has the 2 pack PS2 memory cards for $19.98. It might be YMMV, but it wouldn't hurt to check your local store.

I just got back and snagged socom for PSP for 20, and twisted metal for PSP for 8. They also had GTA liberty city stories for 20 and the collectors version of Oblivion on the 360 for 40. This was at the easton mall location.

I'm going to Lexington, KY this weeked and their CompUSA shows 2 Black GBA Micros in stock for $50 and 4 Pearl Blue SP's for $50 if anyone was looking for them, let me know.

I bought a GBM back in September when they were $50. My wife made me take it back because we already have a GBA and a DS. I hate it when she uses logic.

Picked up 2 PS2 Memory Card Twin Packs for $19.98 each at the Schaumburg, IL store. They have one left.

Games were pretty picked clean.

I noticed Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code (PSP) was $19.98. I'm still waiting for it to drop another $5 - $10.

I did pick up Fable: The Lost Chapters for $9.98.

GB Micros are $49.98.

Okay, HERE'S the thread I want!

I just got 2 GBA Micros (Black) for $40 each....they took an additional 20% off of the $49 price tag!!:applause:

Did they do it manually or did the register automatically take $10 off each?

Manually...had to input some sort of code. SWEET!! One of these is gonna save my ass this Christmas! Hahaha

Picked up both a Micro and the PS2 Memory 2-Pack. The Micro is a very VERY nice machine. I have had no trouble with the small screen with the few games I have tested so far. Good deal.

Is there some Columbus Day sale going on this weekend. I would love to buy a GBA micro for my nephew for $40.

I have an extra PS2 Memory card twin pack if anyone wants it.
PM if interested. $25 Shipped.
Otherwise it's going back.

Gone: Thanks kemap

This is totally YMMV...

They had buy 2 (5.00) games get the 3rd game free sign printed from a computer.

They had a table set out with the games all marked 5.00.

5.00 games included

PSP - Ape Escape : On the Loose (last one)
PSP - Exit (last one)
XBX - Halo (lots)
XBX - Capcom Collections 1 (last one)
XBX - Gun (lots)
XBX - Forza Motorsports (lots)

PC - City of Heroes
PC - The Movies
PC - City of Villians

some other titles...

I picked up some to trade in at EB as credit Builder. What made it a better deal was the checkout person accidentally did it b1g1 instead of b2g1 .

So I got 6 games for $15.xx . Not a bad deal.

Picked up Quake 4 XB360 last night for $15

Also, anyone in Santa Rosa, CA, the Compusa Website say's they have 2 GBA Micro's, and 2 GBA SP's in Pearl Blue. Man I would like to get my hands on a cheap new SP.
I thought Quake was $30 still, how did you get it for $15? I've been checking CompUSA website waiting for it to drop below $20.
Well, at my store, they were priced at $15, both online and instore. However, the online inventory now lists it at $30, which makes me wonder if they raised the price on it. I noticed this happening with a couple other items (that I can't recall offhand) as well.

My store had a managers special bin, and it was marked $15. I think most stores in cali that I have looked at has them listed as $30, but they may be $15 in-store.

I ran into the same deals as spamfree. I found alot of games for $5 each. This is strictly YMMV though, since the cashier had to manually price the games.
What I saw was:

PSP - Exit
PSP – Fifa 06
PSP – From Russia with Love
PSP – Kingdom of Paradise
PSP – Legend of Heroes 2
PSP – LoTR Tactics
PSP – Metal Gear Acid
PSP – MLB 2K6
PSP – NBA Ballers Phenom
PSP – Neopets Petpet Adventures
PSP – Pac Man World 3
PSP – Pursuit Force
PSP - Socom
PSP – Untold Legends 2
XBX- Greg Hasting’s Paintball (Max’d?)
XBX - Halo
XBX – World Series of Poker
PC - City of Heroes
PC - City of Villians

There was also a few more other Xbox games & another PC game, I just can’t remember the names. The PC game was a MMO/FPS…if that helps anybody.

They also had a mess of Strategy guides for 98 cents each, here are some of the guide I can remember:
Chrome Hounds
Ninety-Nine Nights
LoTR Battle For Middle Earth 2
Perfect Dark Zero
Hitman Blood Money

At the Chandler, Arizona CompUSA, they had a buy 3 for $12 table in the front of the store. Some titles included:

Ape Escape (PSP)
Gretzky 06 (PSP)
Arena Football (Xbox)
Madden 06 (Xbox)
Indigo Prophecy (Xbox)
Painkiller (Xbox)
College Hoops 2K6 (Xbox)

hmmm...no price drops online at my store.

maybe they'll have an in store clearance table anyway?

Picked up Syphon Filter Dark Marror for 24.98 on the PSP

They also had Socom Fire Team Bravo for 19.99 and Untold Legends The Warriors Code (or something like that) for $14.99.

These are the prices online also
My local Compusa is now CLOSED.

Scored the last copy Black Thorne (GBA) under $6 and 2003 Code book $0.38.
Is that the one in Independence, MO?

SI

Weren't the GBA Micros part of that big clearance a while back? How much were they? I went into the CUSA today (10/28) because they had all these people all over the street with 70% off signs, I figured I'd check it out. Well, I went in there and no one in the store could tell me WHAT was 70% off - what utter BS. They said some stuff comes up cheaper than marked - you have to ring it up to find out. I checked out several $14.99 - $19.99 "Manager's Special" games and the best discount I found was $5 off the marked price - no fucking 70%. Then I found a GBA Micro marked "Manager's Special $49.99". I picked it up and will think about keeping it or not, but it really wasn't as cheap as I was hoping as they are normally $70 everywhere now. I was hoping for $30-$40.

But my point was that I know this was on the red star clearance list for this store several weeks back. When I went in back then they said those all got sold out a long time before. Well, now there are 2 in there, and I'm fairly sure they didn't get more shipments of them at this point. So it looks like maybe they held the good stuff back before (it showed 2 in stock, there were 2 there today). A bit infuriating...

io, I'm sure they meant 70% off the retail price, and that's technically true since the Red Star Blowout is for up to 90% off. You can check the website to see what your store has in stock and for how much, because some items have indeed dropped in price the last week or so.

As for the GBA Micro, you should've gotten it for $39.99 since most stores have another promotion for an additional 20% off Red Star items at checkout (this isn't automatic - you'll have to notify the clerk); someone else reported that their store was having a 20% off Manager's Special items, and your store is likely to have at least one of the two.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the clerks will fight tooth and nail and insist that the items are already marked for the additional 20% off - they're not. You shouldn't have too much of a problem since the website has updated today with the promotion clearly on the front page, and your store should have signs stating it as well.

Totally YMMV. Their online inventory is very inaccurate. The local store told me the inventory is for returned items and they will not sell those products to customers. They may sell them to employees. Not sure if the employees are hoarding the good deals themselves and lying about inventory showing returned products. They would not even show me the returned products that "supposedly" show in their system as being available. I said I'd still take the returned prodcuts. Anyway no deal.

I know what you mean. They took a lot of the xbox 360 games off their clearance list at the store in Raleigh and still had most of them in stock.

I can't complain too much though since this sale has been golden for me. The first time I went I got PDZ:CE and Kameo for 15 a piece and last time I went to check out the sale Oblivion was marked 9.98 and the cashier gave it to me for that price (it still rang up 59.99, but it was the last copy and there were several other games weirdly marked with price stickers well below what they should have been).

I'm not calling you a liar, but the website inventory is one of the best I've seen for an electronics/game retailer, as they update 5 AM EST everyday, and I always find what I'm looking, save for the oldest and most obscure items. I've even found items that weren't on the list, but were part of the promotion.

I find it best to check both the website's inventory, and the store inventory for Red Star items, which you can find here: http://www.compusa.com/locations/default.asp?cmid=blowout

I also know that returned items have to be returned to the shelf floors before closing every night, so you might want to try again at a later time.

I agree their website inventory system is great. The list said my local store had some N64 games in stock, and sure enough they were at the store...in the back room where no one would have known about them. The only downside however, is they only show items they have 2 or more copies of in stock. If they only have one copy of that item left, it will be at the store but not on the website inventory list.

Well, I don't know about the 70% - they simply couldn't point me to any particular item that was 70% off, despite them having hired several people to stand at intersections waving signs around that said that .

Does CompUSA price adjust? I paid $49.99 for it, but will definitely take it back there to get the 20% off - $40 is just about what I wanted to pay for this, so that's perfect. Of course, I went through a couple cashiers (first checking some games, then ringing up the Micro) - neither mentioned any such deal.

They did have the Xbox 360 Oblivion CE for $35 - this is actually listed in the store's listing of blowout items right now. I don't see the Micro on there (and there was another when I was there). Even though I don't have a 360, I might pick up that Oblivion CE for $28... I do see the Micro listed at another nearby store - I could try buying it there with the 20% off...

Well, had another great run at CompUSA yesterday - a lot of things got marked down but aren't reflected on the website. Some of these things were:

Fable (Xbox) - $6
Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes (Xbox) - $6
Halo 2 (Xbox) - $8?
Halo 2 Map Pack (Xbox) - $8?
Urbz: Sims in the City (Xbox) - $6
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 (Xbox) - $6?
City of Villains Collector's Edition (PC) - $6
Auto Assault (PC) - $5
Auto Assault Collector's Edition (PC) - $10
Everquest II Collector's Edition (PC) - $4
Everquest Atlas (Book) - $2
Conquest: Frontier Wars (PC) - $2
256 PC2100 DDRRAM - $2
128 PC2100 DDRRAM - $2
RAM Heat sinks - 50 cents
Thermal Fan Alarm (dunno what this is) - $1
Xbox 360 Hot Rod Faceplate - $1
Vertical Stand (PS2?) - $1
Various Gaming Edge starter kits for GBA, CD cases, battery packs - $1-2
Various cases for IPods and PDAs - $1-8

And, drumroll please...

Quake 4 (Xbox 360) - $6!

A lot of movies were also on sale for $6.

So check out your local CompUSA before all the good stuff is gone, people. Of course, since the prices aren't reflected on the website (and past price drops were), YMMV on this one.

I picked up eye toy play 2 - ps2 for 16+tax.
It was listed as 19.99, but they knocked off another 4 dollars at register.
I didn't complain. Thanks OP.. my trip to compusa was worth it.

finally some decent deal from compusa...
