Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info
We Silver Members will have to wait until Tuesday. Man, I am dieing to play this demo. I considered re-upgrading back to gold since I know I am going to eventually. I decided against this, however, since thats exactly what Microsoft hopes for by making these demos gold only. Instead of encouraging this practice I think I'll just try and wait it out the best I can.
I hope the silver program is eliminated.

Demo was pretty fun, even though I mainly went around kickin people for 30 minutes. I love the Havoc Phyics. The game also felt more lively than GTA because of the explotation allowed.
Has it been confirmed that the ENTIRE single player campaign can be played in co-op?
There apparently is no campaign in the common sense of the word. Basically you are just taking out gang leaders/officers in areas of the city. There isn't an arc that went through along with side missions like one found in the GTA series.

I love throwing cars in the water and throwing explosive barrels at a big batch of cars then hitting them with gernades...I wish the cars would drift a little more though

Have any of you guys messed around with the satchel charges. Theyre a blast. You can just tag nearby cars with them and once you use up all eight you press and hold the right bumper to make them explode all at once. Its fucking awesome.

Maybe you can drift them better once you increase your driving abilities some?

Where do you get those?
Where do you get those?
At any of the drop points where you drop off new weapons and reload. scroll down to the grenades, then left or right to find the charges. They give you 8 per refill. Best weapon in the game IMO.

fuckin a. im going to try that right now.
Can you attach them to people?

(I'm home right now and my 360 is at school)
Yup, Totally.
So I am not totally living in the past. I'm just not going to bring my nice TV to a shitty apartment to get stolen.
Wait.. so your saying you'd rather risk having your 360 stolen than your TV? :whistle2:k

Might have missed out on something there, but thats what it sounds like...
Is their splitscreen co-op in the game? I don't get to try the game until tuesday...
no. but it does have system link.

There's also this little bit of info I picked up from a NeoGaf user that has been playing a near finished version of the game:
Also, when you finish the game and you quit and start this game again, you will have the option to either play with ambient crime on (gangs roaming around) or off. In the later case you will be free to explore and race, etc. without having to get into fights and the like, since you did 'clean' the city after all.
Finally played the demo over the weekend (no Live for me on weekdays) and loved it. It is everything and more that I was hoping it to be, it doesn't even need the Halo 3 invite attached to it to move copies.

Would the demo be available for silver members tomorrow at 2 am? How does this system work? Is it exactly one week or at least one week?

Should be exactly one week but I don't know if the programmers are going to be right on the ball to keep non paying members as happy. I wouldn't stay up for it if I were you, just check tomorrow morning to see if its there.

These are the kinds of things that you can setup with the charges:
GreyFox133 was not amused.

Climbing up to the top of the ferris wheel was fun.

Anyone up for co-op later tonight?
I'm up for some.

What time? (in EST)

My wife ended up playing KOTOR until we went to bed. But definitely tonight. BTW - You're from Altoona? I'm in Johnstown.

I don't know guys, I'm not really feeling this game. I downloaded the demo and played if for the half hour. Something just doesn't seem right, its fun at first, but by the end I got sick of it.

The targeting system seems off.

There is no grapple (Grab the enemy) button. I would love a body slam or choke hold.

Its to hard to target stuff and throw things right where you want to.

It just seemed like GTA with a few new things.

I don't know, I wanted to like it.... Maybe the co-op will save it, i'll have to give it a shot.

I finally figured out some of the targeting system quirks. I was playing last night I noticed that If I aimed for the head, I would still have to fire a lot of shots to kill them. For those of you that don't already know, when you lock on a target and use the right thumbstick to aim for a body part, leave it there for a moment before shooting. You will see a red circle shrink into the actual target area, when the circle is as small as it can be you will achieve maximum damage and be able to take headshots with one shot.
Does it piss anyone else off that you can't quite the bullets and cars?
Hell yeah. I can't think of anything that pisses me off more.
Hell yeah. I can't think of anything that pisses me off more.
I fucking hate loud bullets and don't get me started on loud cars.

I played it again yesterday and my opinion changed.

Though I like it I still feel it has no personality. I wish there was more getting to know citizens, going into buildings, etc.

Also public places and stuff like that. Like a produce market that opens up at a set time each day. Or have the fair open during the day, with tons of citizens riding rides and playing the games.

Or public speaches and protests, with protestors carrying signs, and podiums set up.

I also really kind of wish there were more free-roaming games based on real locations. There's nothing cooler than playing a real place in a videogame.

Most developers avoid that because they get a lot of heat. Like GRAW with the Presidential murders and Rainbow Six Vegas, had the Mayor of Vegas trying to stop the game from releasing. Its a lot easier to create a fantasy world so that they get less obstacles. I totally see what you mean thought, it would be a lot more fun that way.

Gotta pick and choose. I can play my 360 with an RF on a shitty tv, it's not a huge deal. I'm trying to minimize my losses (god forbid I do get my stuff stolen) while still being able to play my 360.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaWqseH2A60
I used to think Saint's Row had the best physics for a sandbox game but now I've gotta go with Crackdown. After seeing that video and playing the demo I have to buy this game, if for no other reason but to mess around with all the physics and set up awesome shit like that in the video.

Also in the demo I climbed to the top of the ferris wheel and would have made it to the top of the agency building but i ran out of demo time. I like how the sound starts to change as you get higher up on buildings. The sounds of the street are gradually replaced by the wind whipping by.

I think after this game its gonna be difficult to go back to regular sandbox games where you can't pick up anything in sight or jump 30 ft. in the air.
wheres that at? i heard the rocket launcher and/or grenade launcher are not in the demo.
Rodrigo Alvarez at the Sportiz drops it once you kill him. It's called the Watson HE79 "Grenadier" if I remember correctly.
