Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info

So does anyone know the answer to my question?
Can you level up higher than in the demo? I maxed out my agility and I was really jumping far but I'm hoping that you can go even further in the retail version - does anyone know?

Any tips on boosting up the explosive rating.
Well if you can't get a rocket launcher(shi-gen has a nice one) you can always use the sachel charge grenades and detonate them manually before the gang members run out of range. Also, if they drive up to you, wait for them to get out and stick a charge to their car. Then run away and they will get back in the car, so you can trigger it then.

Definately carefully head over to shigen and get the rocket launcher though, it rocks.
any tips for climbing? In the demo i would always either get stuck at one part or run out of time.
It does take patience. Look for a video on climbing the tower on you tube, i just found it today. It says 4 stars required, but as I said I did ti with 3.

There will be a part where you are tryign to ascend the highest tower and the duct work is too high from the bottom to the 2nd rung, i had to jump on the front of the tower against a ledge and then onto the 2nd rung. From there it was a breeze.

Be careful having to redo it would be a pain if your almost there.
Oh, and shooting the tires out of cars on the freeway will never get old.
HELL yes :bouncy:

I did that yesterday for about 3 hours straight, its damn addicting :D

I found a great spot to do it too, sometimes the car will fly off the edge of the highway and into to rocks or water

Where can you find the hand held rocket launcher? The one I got from the volk is only a single shot then it needs to be reloaded.
I like it. Haven't had a lot of time to put into it so far, but so far so good. One of the reasons I like it more than the demo is I'm playing on the middle difficulty, it makes it so you're not as invincible as I always felt in the demo. Taking out the bosses is harder too. Hopefully it will make up for the fact that someone could beat this thing in two days.

Haven't tried co-op yet.

Saint's multiplayer gameplay was fine, it was just hurt by technical problems.

I'm baffled as to why Crackdown didn't include at least something. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a download later, though. This game is too shallow to go without additional content - and I don't mean stuff for those final 100 points.
True, there were some good parts in Saints, but it really didn't reach the full potential these sandbox games would have for multiplayer. Crackdown actually fullfills one of the great multiplayer experiences by adding co-op. Saints row would have been pretty badass with co-op like Crackdown.

Also even though Saints row did have some multiplayer it didn't utilize the full map like mods like Multi theft auto have in the past. Basically what I want is a full map island to island CTF Match ;)
So does anyone know the answer to my question?
You can only level up four stars for each ability.

The difference between the retail game and the demo is that it takes longer to level up.

for the love of god, i NEED to know if the US version is compatible with a JP 360! Frickkin' Play-Asia STILL has a question mark next to it!!!!
Anyone know for sure??? I can't drop 60 bones on it without knowing.
Where can you find the hand held rocket launcher? The one I got from the volk is only a single shot then it needs to be reloaded.
Go to the Shai Gen district, and go to the rooftops. There are many guys up there, and you should find the good rocket launcher in a matter of minutes.
Any deals on this game?

I really want it but don't want to pay more than about $45 for it
gamefly is 42 and change if you're a member.

I just did a search on google, and there's people on other boards saying that it is indeed region free. Here's one.

If only they would have more damn distro centers, the east coast left me with a 8-10 day turnaroud.

what i did was go into the volk area even if your not there yet then find a person with a rocket launcher kill him take his rocket launcher go to a safe house and store it there. Next stay on the roof right next to the safe house and start killing people with the rocket launcher and go back to the safe house when u need to reload

hmmm...i saw couple as well, but i'm still concerned. It seems like most people on other boards are europeans questioning whether or not the US version is compatible with EU machines. I just have the sinking feeling that the US Crackdown won't work on a JP 360.

Do any of the B&M stores take returns on opened video games? I might just test it myself, if so.

Haha, I'm in the middle of another "highway tire popping" marathon, and needless to say, BA DA BOP BOP BA, I'm LOVIN' IT!

This alone is worth the $60 purchase, especially in the spot I'm at. The cars are coming at nearly 100 mph, so once I pop a tire, all hell 'brakes' loose

Cars are flying, people are getting launched into the air, all plummeting down into the rocky shore 125ft below us :D.

in an interview with a guy working on the game on major nelson this past sunday (i think it was major nelsons podcast) he said you can get 2 dashes as the highest level up...after getting all 4 levelup, i believe he said there are 2 dahes to be earned from collecting the 800 or so orbs

Ok, so I'm very stupid...

I'm still mostly mulling around the first island, but I still have a sub boss and the kingpin to take down. How do I find them? There's hardly any gang members left in the area of the city. Do I need to venture to other areas and start taking them down? At the Agency tower place they tell me not to go into the other areas yet.

Just look at the map at see what areas of that island you really haven't explored yet. The bosses are pretty evenly spread out around the island.

I actually beat the kingpin on the first island without finding two of the sub bosses and then had to search around the island until I found them.

I played with another CAG today. I was about to leave and the game locked up on us. Like it had ESPN or something and knew we were done. It is a great game and I love Jumping and killing.

Is there a way to tell where you've been, save for the rescued drop points? I got all of them freed at this point. I think to the north I've not spent much time, so maybe I'll check that out.

Well, you can see where you have killed the other bosses on the map. Outside of just telling you where to look, just look where you haven't killed bosses. :)

And north would probably be a good place to start.

seems like every co-op game i've played drops connection after about 45 min, we tried on xbox live and then system link.. anyone else experiencing this?

I leveled up my strength to all 4 stars and have one dash but thats the most it seems to be going....

Gonna try level up the others now...

Killing those gang leaders and bosses are fun as heck with strength......just keep kicking em and theyre dead....you dont even get hurt much....
Where can i get rocket launchers?
from random badguys. I went straight to gaishen and got one.
Where can i get rocket launchers?
read the freakin' thread, it's in a few posts right before yours.

hah yeah, It sucked to lose that HMG again, got that and a Rocket Launcher pretty quick in the Shai-gen area tho. =)
I can't wait to buy this once everyone dumps after the Halo 3 beta and the price plummets. And I'm not being sarcastic.
i dont see the game dropping to under $40 for awhile..is is really worth it to wait 3-5+months to save an additional $10? probably not

I can see it drop to about 25.00 after the Halo 3 beta. You'll just be out of the loop by not having it now ;)
$25?? they dont even drop 2006 sports games that low eeven after a yr+ since it came out
Your not realizing that these are going to flood the Ebay market once the Halo 3 Beta is done and over. 25,000 Plus copies of the game will make its way from gamers hand right ontot he Ebay Market where they will sell for roughly 25.00 each since there are soo many copies.

Used not New @ $25.00

So played with a CAG last night, not sure his Cag name LOL

Maybe some of the must fun I have ever had

Played from 9-1am my time

how many orbs have you guys gotten? i've been sticking to the los muertos islands trying to find all the agility orbs i can get and so far i have 100 something and 30 or so hidden orbs.

I have about 310 Agility, and around 80 Hidden Orbs.

In other news, I decided to become a suicide bomber, but get this; I threw about 8 mines on a bus, hijacked it, drove it into a busy part of the Shai-Gen district, and blew it up while riding it. The catch is, I SURVIVED it  I got out of the bus and I was like......."WTF?" So I went to my Supply Point and did it again :D
I have about 310 Agility, and around 80 Hidden Orbs.
how many do you think were on the los muertos islands? im trying to get an idea of how complete i am for that area... i must be missing a ton of hidden orbs

Wooh, I have no idea man :whistle2:k I'd throw a wild guess out and say 150 agility and 75 Hidden?

I haven't left Los Muertos yet and I have about 178 Agility Orbs.
I love this game. I hate how when you clear a part of the island out there are no more gang members left to kill :(
I think once you beat everything you have the option to re-populate it.
I think once you beat everything you have the option to re-populate it.

So played with a CAG last night, not sure his Cag name LOL

Haha, that was me bud. You're designated driver next time.

Quick question: Is there a way to level up your skills (other than agility and driving) without gang members around? Because I've cleared the first two islands, but my guy is on level 2 with most skills (except 1 for driving and 3 for agility) and I'd eventually like to max him out after I beat the game. So does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Also, how much does killing civilians hurt you? From what I gather your points cannot go down, however the meter that charges up that turns into points can go down by killing civilians. Is this correct? I've been renting the game so I have no manual.

I would also like to note just how much I'm loving the full game. In some ways the game is a step down from the demo because the demo allowed you to power up significantly faster and thus you could max out all of your skills (if only one or two of them per play-through). So the full game is slower in that regard.

HOWEVER, the full game also benefits from that because it's so addicitve trying to level up each skill. I've also found the boss fights to be a lot more fun. While the bosses themseles are absolute wimps, trying to break into their stronghold with a rocket launcher and high agility has provided some of the greatest thrills I've ever had in a game. It may be true that there isn't much meat to the game and it's super short (I'm taking it slow and I've beaten the first 2 islands in 7.5 hours), but it provides some of the most unabashed pure additive fun that I've had from ages. The only thing preventing me from buying it for $50+ is that it will inevatably drop in price and it's short enough that I could beat it in a rental and then buy it after a few months.

On a side note, I hated GTA, but love Crackdown. It's like they took everything that sucked about GTA (the controls, shitty dialogue) and cut that out. Brilliant game!
