Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info

I haven't been this addicted to a game in quite a while. Between Crackdown and Wii Sports I haven't been doing much else.

Anyone have tips on climbing walls with the SUV? Everytime I try it either slams on the wall or climbs up for only a little. I'm trying to get some of the stunt markers and they seem to be near impossible without climbing walls or high jumps.

Yes i got 4 star ratings on driving.

Thanks for the help. I thought I was missing finding the change target button.
I keep getting these people jumping out of thier cars to gun me down and when I go to lock on its locking on the car or cars first and not the people. There is that type of thing happening a lot.

The game is ok, to tell you the truth if not for the beta I would have waited till it was a bit cheaper if not till I could get a very cheap used copy via trade or something. Its fun though and maybe it will grow on me. I will say this much about it, I dont like any of the GTAs nor did I like Saints Row. But I found the Spider Mans and Hulk fun and this game is more like those last two to me.

I can occasionally get half way up, but I haven't mastered it yet either. From what I can tell, the best way is to just drive into it, then once you go verticle hold down B to grip the wall.

Note, if you haven't already, that when locked on you can change where you're shooting with the analog stick (heads, arms, etc.). This applies to cars too, so get yourself to the freeway, and start shooting people's tires out. ;)

Of course, the best and most satisfying feature of the game :D

Have you been to the freeway near the Volk Quarry that leads into a tunnel (which goes to Shai Gen)?

That is my FAVORITE place to do the tire popping, mainly because the cars go MUCH faster than usual, and theres a huge drop if they fall off the highway, leading into spikey rocks and the ocean

What I've found works best with the SUV and wall-climbing is to find a wall you wanna go up, give yourself about 10-20 feet of running room, nail the gas while pressing B and launch yourself up. Tilt back on the stick to nose up and then mash B again to stick to the wall. I've made it up short 20 ft walls with no problems.

More importantly, mashing B sticks your car to the road. You don't slide, you don't skid. It's great if you need to make sure you stay put when you're driving.

I had some fun scaring someone the other day by shooting out of the hidden cave inlet near the Volk Quarry. I had the Supercar up in the tunnel, and gunned it while the person had just discovered the route and was exploring it.
Hit jump? The cars can jump?

If so, I've been doing this wrong all along.
Heh. You aren't there yet. Just keep going.

I found a really easy way to boost up my driving skills. I set my difficulty to ruthless so that more enemies come out. Then I just took the Agency Truck and ran over everything, including the civilians and police. It took out more bad guys than anything cause they always call for more members....

noce u get to later bosses in the 2nd and 3rd gangs, this game gets much harder. its not so much the enemies are tough, but there's tons of them around you shooting from all directions. lso once u kill the boss u dont have to deal with the rest of the gang members, they just disappear form that area. weird and a cheap way to get it done

Used your tips last night and played for 3h (without doing a lot except finding orbs and such). Everything went much better, it got a whole lot better when I upgraded my guns lvl. This game is growing on me and I have not even tackled the story yet. The RPG like upgrades is where the draw is for me. Its something not in GTA like games but is in the Spidermans and Hulk games. I still die once everyone five min or so but the game is good fun.

This game gets old, fast.

In fact, I think it was old by the time I got the game, due to playing the demo so many times.
So... when does the beta end?

Anyone wanna sell their "beta accesory" for cheap now? :bouncy:
the beta hasnt even started yet

I used this in one of my shows a few weeks back, and since then I have gotten quite a few requests to post this sound alone. Just for you so-called ‘orb whores’: Here is the infamous (and official) agility orb sound effect. This is the sound you’ll hear when you play Crackdown and you pick up one of the 500 green beauties scattered across Pacific City to level up your agility.

I have two versions of the same file. Right click and choose ‘Save as’ (or something similar) to save this to your computer. Go ahead and make this your ring tone, new mail sound or whatever else you see fit Agent.

Agility Orb sound (MP3)

Agility Orb sound (WMA)
This is straight from the source file with no background noise. It doesn’t get better than this!

I'll be incorporating this on my PC as well as making it a tone for my cell whenever I get VM and/or text msgs.

I'm afraid of heights and I actually feel a bit of anxiety when i'm up high... freaking weird. I climbed the agency tower today and my palms were sweating.

I have the same problem and when I'm making a big fall I actually feel a lil sick, like when I'm on a rollercoaster and going down. Get that bad feeling in your stomach.

wow thats funny..i dont feel sick lol, but it does suck when the first time i got so close to the top of the agency building and fell lol. it took a couple times to finally do it

Havent had that problem yet with this, but I definitely threw up playing fLow last night.

Can anyone tell me what that red logo is that appears during a co-op game? It looks like a circle with 3 dots on the circle, and it shows up right by your health.

I believe that it means that there are connection issues.

Beat the game. It is cool. I started NBA Street. Already got 3 nerd point dealies. I am pretty much done with Crackdown for a bit. I have a backlog 4 miles long. Awesome game. I will find the orbs I have left later on.

I beat the game earlier today. I can't say I was too impressed with the "twist" at the end, but oh well. Overall, it's a pretty fun game. I figure I'll go back and try to get some of the achievements. I must admit, the achievement system saved this game, as otherwise there probably wouldn't be a whole lot of incentive to go back and play it once you've beaten it.

Still, I think I got my money's worth, all $20 of it (I had some credit left-over at Gamestop).

Question: When you max out an ability, do you get one dash or is it two? I got one dash in a few of my abilities but I don't know if it is at max or not.

Answer: Yes. You are maxed at 1 stripe.

I think two dashes is the max
I'm afraid of heights and I actually feel a bit of anxiety when i'm up high... freaking weird. Man I really wish there were more gangs to kill, and that they'd let you respawn the guys you did kill after the game "ends". Running around the city, blowing up cars and stuff is really fun-- but those huge tower climbs to beat some of the leaders (Shai Gen and the Boss Volk) were great.

The game is too fun, I just wish I had more game to play.

I get that too sometimes. Its crazy, even when I'd jump out of a plane in San Andreas I'd never get that same feeling of vertigo as I do when I jump off a high building in Crackdown.

I just go this game last night and i must say its pretty addictive. for 43.99 its a awesome game. i have already played more of this than i have saints row. i can only hope for some great add-ons.

I know what you mean. I wanted to play some more last night but after getting most of the Ach. there just isn't much to do. The orbs are starting to piss me off too since I have like 494 Agility orbs and 24? Hidden orbs and I just don't know where else they could be.

It's gotta have something to do with the speed and angle that you fall. I only get it when the agent falls a certain way.
Man I really wish there were more gangs to kill, and that they'd let you respawn the guys you did kill after the game "ends".
You can. (I think) in the Options menu turn "Crimes On".

Just got to the top of the Agency tower today.

Have to say that was my first real appreciation of the power of the 360 thus far. To be that high up, rendering that much stuff on all the islands, with no "fog" and no drop in frame rate? Pretty impressive.

This is what is stopping me from picking it up... I really want to get it but I am sad in hearing that there really isn't a lot of meat to the game's bones, espicially when the demo was pretty badass.

I almost get the feeling they shipped it as it was and just slapped a Halo 3 beta on it to make up for what is missing. If this had some side quests ala any other sandbox game, I would have gotten this ASAP.

The only side quests that I can think of are the driving and building-to-building jump activities. Though I haven't been bored of just throwing the game in and doing whatever. I just like to play around the variables, to see what happens when I do something.. this leads to me spending hours upon hours of throwing pieces of broken wood in the water and making a path (yes, you can walk on top of the wood once it's in the water) or shooting out random tires and just doing.. whatever. It's fun.

But, the jury's still out on whether, after I've beaten the game, I'll keep it or trade/sell it. I've got about 0 interest in a multi-player only Beta for Halo, but we'll see.
