Dark Souls (Project Dark) - October 4, 2011
Strange, I just got that Black Knight Greatsword last night :/
It's random, so you got lucky. It also only drops from one that is wielding it, so it's harder to get than the other items.
BTW can you actually kill the red dragon on the bridge? Does it take a shitload of arrows? I got the Drake Sword by doing a lot of damage, maybe if I went further, would it get rid of him?
Took me three sprinting 2H swings to take out. I just bait him by standing on the left platform where he can't hit me with fire and after 5-10 seconds he comes down. Strike him in the head when he lands and run for cover underneath. He is surprisingly a joke.

I had forgot about the item dupe trick with the dragon head. I might do the soul exploit to hit 125 tonight and see if the hardcore PvPers are doing anything yet. My battlemage build is working great so far and I'm betting the Moonlight Sword will be a top pick again since it scales so amazingly with INT and doesn't cause stagger when hitting shields. Absolutely wrecked someone last night because they had no idea how to defend against my onslaught.
I just had the stupidest death so far.

read a message that said "try rolling"

rolled off a cliff.

Trolls are everywhere.
I've actually found the little blue pebble things that the female undead merchant sells pretty helpful in that regard. They're super cheap, so you can buy a lot. Just drop them off any cliffs/bridges/etc and listen or watch. If they make a sceaming sound, it's too far. If you hear/see them land not far below, jump!

I had my first experience getting cursed last night
fell into the basilisk pit in the depths
. Totally sucked having to waste so many of my undead/soldier souls to get the 6k for the uncurse item. Then I actually went back to the same spot (on accident again, via a different hole) but managed to avoid curses and got the good ring. At this point in Demon's Souls it seems like I had a bunch of rings to choose from, but right now I only have 2 rings in Dark Souls. At least they're both decent (one raises defense when HP is low and the other absorbs HP from the enemy when you hit them).
Yep, message rating system is definitely backwards, whenever I select "-Rating" the rating increases by +1.
Odd. When I select "+rating" it increases by one for the messages I've rated. Never bothered to do the minus rating. I've also yet to get a message rated, despite leaving what I thought were really good, useful messages warning about ambushes or highlighting secret passages and such.
Yeah, I made that jump on my first time through there--what events take place before a guy is sitting there? I'll have to keep an eye on that spot.
Not entirely sure. I think he moves there after beating the Sewers and/or Blight Town.

You can first find him in the Sewers. He's in the room with the locked door that leads to Blight Town. Probably a good idea to check with him after every boss you beat. He might have new stuff after each one.

What add lightning to a weapon? The lightning spear interests me, but I don't think I've found anything yet to add lightning to a weapon.

Like the Dragon Crest shield, I think it is an item which has already been modded to have lightning damage which is an item drop.
What add lightning to a weapon? The lightning spear interests me, but I don't think I've found anything yet to add lightning to a weapon.
The blacksmith in the area after sen's fortress can upgrade via the lightning path so the spear is the first chance to get a lightning weapon that I am aware of

And its freaking awesome. Word of advice, start attacking chests first, before opening after you ring the second bell and moving forward

That makes it sound like there are fake chests aka Mimics in Dark Souls... I'm looking forward to them, as well as hearing of my friends getting surprised by them XD.

I got the lordvessel. I did a bit of the dragon head glitch, I haven't used any of my ill-gotten souls to level up though. I just used them to buy every spell available and max out my arrows.

I'm thinking about using it to max out my humanity and then going to farm the ghosts in New Londo for their drop. Anyone know the closest place to get cursed around there?

What does everyone else think about the Infinite Souls glitch? I'm torn between sides honestly.

One one side I see it as a cheat in a sense that makes the game easier since you could just level up insanely, buy whatever, and basically end the game in a sense.

But on the other side, farming for souls is a bit tedious/bleh.

Thoughts?

I hate glitches like that. Definitely NOT going to use it. I hope they patch it asap. I don't have anything against anyone else using it as long as they never play online (though of course they all will, and then somehow justify it).

Considering it has been a glitch since Japanese release, it will probably never be fixed. They never closed the hole for item duping or soulsucking infinite souls in Demon's Souls either, so I doubt they will this time. I actually respect that because there's really no way to respec in this game and if you wanted to make a new PvP character, you'd have to grind to 125 the hard way all over again. You still have to put in a lot of effort to get the dragon head stone anyway, so it's not like some newb can just buy the game today and get max level when they start playing right away.

If anything, this is just a tool for the PvP crowd to experiment easily with different builds. I rather prefer it that way TBH.

Getting a bunch of Souls for purchases doesn't seem like all that bad to me. Already 55+ hours on this and barely got the lordvessel so no worries about not getting my enjoyment out of this game. Maybe at NG+ i'll think about it to try and Plat this easier.

While not that far in, if you have the shortcut to the Depths, that may be the closest place. My assumption is that you are starting in Firelink.

Yeah, that was farther than I wanted to go. I tried the transient curse item, and it works pretty well. It seems like it lasts 5 minutes or so.

I managed to snag like 6 jagged ghost blades with just the ring that increases drops equipped. No normal ghost blade. It looks like there aren't many female ghosts about.

Unfortunately the ghost blades suck. Takes like 8 hits to kill a ghost while my lightning spear +5 can do it in 2.

Speaking of "The Depths", I was wondering - what and where is the shortcut? I don't recall seeing it on my way through it and on the way out.
Speaking of "The Depths", I was wondering - what and where is the shortcut? I don't recall seeing it on my way through it and on the way out.
I think they are talking about the shortcut from just outside the depths to the firelink shrine

Outside the door are some stairs, go in there, kill the archer, and go through a door. On the right is the undead female merchant, to the right goes back to the firelink shrine area

I cannot remember if you need the master key or not, but instead of going into the depths, go
up the stairs and then you will end up coming out by the female vendor down the long hallway from the first rat in the game. This is the top of the stairway to get into the Undead Burg.

Oh that path... for a second I thought there might have been another route that was faster/put you in deeper than the main entrance. Yea, I had that unlocked before I even killed Capra heheh. Thanks though!

So for conversational sake - Have any of you ever have any enemy(ies) and/or negative status that you underestimated at some point, then after a bad encounter come to respect them?

As for me, I had a rather unlucky experience with the rats below the Hellkite Dragon one a reverse run back. Got locked into blocking in the corner from coming down the ladder, got hit here and there, got poisoned. Somehow I killed them, but in the end I died to poison and ever since then I respected the little rodents lol.

I tend to get lazy with the zombies every once in awhile, espcially the torch ones. Then I'll get surrounded and raped, or one of them will do that 50 foot jump move, and I'll remember to be patient and have a little respect again.

I made a new Pyromancer with Master Key. Took me like 15 minutes to get to Ash Lake. Leveled up to SL 5 putting all toward Endurance so I can run. Even got cursed and died a few times to get to the dragon, but I made it within 30 minutes. That glitch is so easy to do, I got it on my 2nd try. Doubt I'll do this on my main character, but it's a great way to remake your character or play around with builds.

Yea, sometimes they can be surprising when they jump from really far and you don't expect them to reach. For some reason, they almost never do that jump to a friend of mine, but they seem to be extremely jump happy against me... I wonder if certain enemies behave differently based on your Covenant...or maybe I'm just silly, lol.
wheres a good spot to summon?
People often lay down their signs right outside the door or near the beginning of the bridge.
wheres a good spot to summon?
Yeah, right outside the fog(or around that area)

Also the staircase before the Gargoyle.

You can also find Soliare's summon sign on the staircase on the left.

has anyone found a bow or a merchant selling bows besides the undead burg merch?
i heard theres a dragon bow in adnor londo but i can get in yet.

What level are you currently and what are your stats? I'm like Slvl 17, just entetered lower Undead Parish. I love the feeling you get when you unlock a shortcut and you realize you don't ahve to go thorugh the long brutal way anymore ;) I want to make sure I'm speccing such that my guy doesn't suck endgame.

I don't know how they'll make NG++, +++, etc. They can't make it harder and harder if your level eventually caps but the enemies doesn't....right?

Also, did anyone try to Dragonhead infinite item cheat with humanity? Confirmed to give infinite humanity?

What is this infinite souls glitch / item dupe glitch? I've got a hell of a lost less time to play nowadays than I did for Demon's so those would be fantastic to give myself a bit of an edge (not overpowered though).

I've seen the one about running an upside down "U" in the forest area, but I assume that's not what you're talking about?

Works the same as Demon's Souls. Cap is 792 and the first NG+ is much harder while each one after that is only slightly harder.
alrighty 2 stooges down. thanks random people i summoned and died for the cause and got nothing!
They get humanity I think.

Chances are they're stuck there too with no humanity and the only way to get pass is to help and gain humanity so they can summon help themselves.

So awesome lol

They only get humanity if they live through the fight.
They also get half the amount of souls you get.

I just did this. Yes it works with humanity. Although, every time I do this, my stamina goes down, so it's not really infinite. I was only able to get 75 humanity.

It has to do with the stone dragon head you get from joining the dragon coven.

Thanks. Googled it and haven't gone to the location yet. Good to know for when I do though.

Have any of you experimented with the Hand-to-Hand weapons? I tried equipping two of them to see if you could be some sort of Brawler/Monk/Boxer but... it doesn't function as I thought up in my head lol. Anyone try the stronger ones or upgrading them (or the weaker versions)?

Wow, after about 3 dozen times going into that tower and never seeing the dragon, it actually showed up!

Not sure exactly what triggered it to become visible. But this is the path I took if someone wants to try:
1. Used the bonfire at the bottom of Blight Town
2. Went up to Valley of Drakes -> New Londo Ruins -> Firelink Shrine
3. Up the elevator to the Undead Parish Church
4. Exit the door towards the Blacksmith, then right on the wood plank walkway
5. Worked my way backwards to the room with zombies then down and up to the boar area
6. Ran up the tower and it was there
Too bad I don't plan on killing it right now though. Need it to farm souls to buy everything from Shiva.

Holy-stuttering-framrate, is blighttown made a heluva lot more difficult when its all choppy and your character controls like shit. I don't understand why the fps' are so low when you can barely see ten feet in front of you.

Btw for those that have explored the bright area in the corner, which vaguely resembles a desert, is there anything of significance over there? And how tough are the enemies?
Where are the best places to farm/get these?
1.Large Titanite Shard
2.Green Titanite Shard
3.Twinkle Titanite Shard
1. and 2. You can buy both of these. If you want an enemy drop, blobs in the depths can drop both

3. According to the guide, there is only one enemy that can drop these and that's the Man-Eater Shell. They're in Ash Lake or the Crystal Cave (and according to the guide, the ones in the Crystal Cave has a 100% drop rate for them).
