Is there any other good anime boxsets on sale. Also Berserk is back ordered so I am going to pick it up in store, today after work.

Do you already own everything I mentioned in my first post? If not, get to it.

Eh, I never got the Ah My Goddess love. Half the time I wanted to kill the cast, the other half I was just kinda going "Oh, okay" and moving along. The rest of the recs you made are pretty good, though Midori Days is a bit half and half; concept's great, but the anime adaptation could've been much better. That may be the manga bias speaking however. But hey, at $10 can't complain.

GaoGaiGar however is all kinds of awesome. First post has the link and set wrong for the second Premium Box - it's Vol 5-10 for $12, so the price is right, it's just a double link. Only thing to be worried about there is that there's no dub in the 5-10 pack. Then again who's watching giant robot anime for the dub? Combined it's the whole main series (there's still Final but that's 8 eps while this is a good 50+) for $27 and tax which is a pretty solid price point.

For the right link.
Can someone provide a link to the Onechanbara movie? My search only brings up the games.
Yeah Best buy for some reason doesn't actual list it by its real title:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Chanbar...d=9440508&st=chanbara&lp=1&cp=1&ref=39&loc=01

It appears to actually just be the normal movie though:

http://www.amazon.com/Onechanbara-T...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1260815379&sr=1-1

Since the title isn't the same I would not attempt in-store pick up. My local store canceled my in store, probably because they were looking for the wrong title.
is there any other online sites that sells anime? besides rightstuf, bestbuy, amazon....
im trying to find Chobits complete set.
Kinda off topic though. But there's also Robert's Anime Corner, Anime Nation, Anime Castle, Deep Discount DVD...does eStarland sell anime? Never bought really bought from others.

I ended up pre-ordering Genshiken 2 vol. 3 and got Berserk complete for in store pick up. Various other interesting stuff, but I got my buy.com backlog still going. Most of the big MB things I bought as they were coming out anyway.
Is there anything similar to Kenshin on this list? Like samurai/historical Japan type of stuff
Otogi Zoshi, Samurai Deeper Kyo, neither of which are really any good compared to Kenshin; Twelve Kingdoms is probably your best bet.

Used to, they stopped a while ago. Ebay and half.com are also often good source for buying anime. You do have to worry about bootlegs a bit on ebay though.

Roberts Anime Corner store is another really good site.

well was going to order strawberry panic, but after checking around i'm 99% certain that is a slimpack set, which I complete despise. Is this sale online only?

It's a litebox, not a slimpack.

In theory, the deal is also going on in stores, since a couple titles are available for in-store pickup, but the vast majority of these are only available online.

^^I think the prices ring up normal at stores. Though you can do an instore pickup and get the online prices, or get them price matched in store, since the in-store kiosks will show the lowest price, whether it be instore or online.

A thought that occured to me eariler- the liteboxes (specifically, the Beserk one)- are these the ones with all the disc on the same spindle, or are the multipage/overlap type? Just wondering if I'd need to find a replacement case, since I really hate the multidisc spindles ( I still need to get a replacement case for Lost Odyssey.)

Roberts Kicks Ass. Just wanted to get that out there. It's rare-to-never that they can match TRSI in price, but they have the best customer service of any site I've ever dealt with. They're also a great resource for manga, since they go out of their way to keep OOP volumes in stock as long as possible (especially for ongoing series.)

Pages/overlap, from the ones I've encountered (including Berserk). Otherwise we'd be calling them stackpaks instead of liteboxes. So much terminology!

Any idea if it's worth trying to order the backordered stuff? Twelve Kingdoms complete sounds very tempting - 45 episodes for $25...

It's a good price for a massively over hyped show with a crappy ending (well the whole series is crap IMO though)

Damn you people I checked out gaogaigar and the first few ep got me going meh ( i was getting that the kids were gonna be a big part which is bleh) but now its got its hooks in me and i have to buy the damn series.......DAMN YOU EVENTUALLY ENTERTAINING ANIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He didn't say Gantz.

So... I just noticed that BB still has the Samurai Deeper Kyo series+GBA game bundle. I kinda want it, if only for the game. Seriously, I've got to think down the line, the game is going to be worth something given that it came out years after the GBA died and was only available in this obscure bundle. Hell, gamestop doesn't even have a listing for it.

The complete collection of Twelve Kingdoms is a relatively recent release, so I'm confident they'll get more in stock to fulfill your backorder.

GGG isn't gonna start too fast yeah, it's a giant robot anime. Give it a few eps, and then it'll take off making you wonder what in the hell just happened. It's the formula for... pretty much all of them and it works so hey!

As for Twelve Kingdoms/the other backordered stuff... honestly, what do you have to lose? Assuming you're willing to lay down the money, Best Buy won't charge you until your order ships out. If they cancel it hey, you gave it a shot, but I highly doubt they will; a good amount of those sets are in active print so it's likely a shipment or three delay. So you won't get it until what, 3 weeks to a month from now. Still won't find some of these cheaper. In the meantime just make shelf space.

12 Kingdoms is an excellent show but its not flashy and it doesn't have boobs so alot of people won't like it. It has some of the best story telling and charachter development I have ever seen. The change in the main charachter between the first and last episode is amazing.

Also the series DOES end incomplete however it wraps up all the major story arcs. It leaves a few loose ends but overall has an ending that will make most people happy.

Oh man--I've had my eye (no pun intended) on the Giant Robo Eyeball set for years. Hope it actually gets shipped.

Also going to try Tweeny Witches based on the chatter upthread and a little googling. Some reviews compared it to anime via Bakshi and Bluth--that sounds like a good thing.

Speaking of having your eye on stuff, for some reason Zombi 2 caught my eye. And I researched it. Apparantly it's awesome, and one of the scenes is pretty brutal, with an eye being impaled by a wood shard. I kinda want to watch that, but I don't know how bad it is. But there's a zombie versus shark fight, and you can't go wrong with that.

NO BOOBS?! What is this madness?!

The novels are great as well. I have three of them so far and they're amazing.

it's probably the second best zombie movie of all time (only second to NotLD). Definitely worth the money. It's on the Netflix streaming if you want to watch it before you buy.

I didn't see old favorite Master of Mosquiton OVA there at first. Put in a backorder for it, in case it actually gets restocked.
I had a huge ordeal today at Best Buy, but they managed to price match Grenadier Complete Collection and Knight Hunters. Check out my blog for details on my ordeal today. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=11806
Knight Hunters/Weiss Kreuz is the single worst anime franchise ever conceived. I can't think of a single thing that's worse, and I've seen a *lot* of shit. Have fun with that.
except Gantz hasn't ended
He was obviously referring to the anime. Why would you even think he meant the manga?

Exactly, you all know I'm illiterate... I only get this far typing by luck. I just roll my face on the keyboard.

Went for in store pickup on Berserk and I'm debating ordering 12 Kingdoms. I can do an in store pickup for 12 Kingdoms but its available at an out of the way BB, so I may opt for going with a backorder.

Seriously buy 12 kingdoms if you want a great story and believable charachters.

The main charachter Yoko has one of the most well fleshed out development I have ever seen in an anime. The only thing better then the anime are the books.
I take it the kite/mezzo set is the censored versions?
The version pictured on the site is indeed the censored version, and I don't think BB normally sells pornography, though Step Up Love Story is reasonably close.

Personally I caved in to my inner demon and picked up the aforementioned Step Up Love Story, Green Green, Girl's High, Golden Boy, and Grenadier. There's a trend there aside from Grenadier, I couldn't pass up the ero goodness at $10 or less each, especially since I already own the best series on sale (Berserk and Midori Days).

Ah yes... I was actually a big fan of Weiss Kreuz back in my early fandom days... I even have an artbook and a drama CD floating around.

Then the fangirl wore off. I tried to watch it again a few years back for nostalgia... after 15 minutes I turned it off, shocked that I'd never noticed just how BAD it was! I mean, I could write off the story as 'weird anime stuff', but even the animation quality is terrible! How did I miss that?!

The dub outtakes are still great. I kept the DVDs for those (and to remind myself that I didn't have the best taste in anime to start with.)
I wonder when the sale is OVER ?
It may end on Saturday (12/19).

the kite/kite liberator for 10 is a good deal, but I got the uncut version of kite when sam goody was going out of business. still need the mezzo uncut. Would pick up some more anime, but I spent like 400 when BB had the half off sale a while ago.

lol , me 2 :D, I spend about $500 between the best buy blow out sale and Last years Righstuf Xmas sale. this year only about $100 total.

Got my copies of Berserk and Goldenboy. Wow, when held in hand it hits home how densely packed into a small regular-size DVD case the Berserk 6-discs are.

Initially thought it was a different pack than what ordered, but Best Buy's box art picture is oriented incorrectly. This is it properly shown at Bersek Complete @ Amazon.
