Best Buy Upgrade & Save - Now With 100% More Wikification!!

How does it work?
Trade in ANY DVD (except for porn, you weirdos) and get a $5 off coupon towards any Blu-Ray priced $9.99 or above.
Yes, ANY DVD - this includes things you bought at the Dollar Store, individual discs from compilations or TV shows, and ex-rentals from Blockbuster (RIP).
Cases and artwork aren't required, but it definitely increases the acceptance rate if you're bringing in disc four of Sanford & Son's third season.

Wait, that's it? There has to be more to it, right?
Well, not really. It's pretty simple.
Step 1. Trade in DVD's for $5 off coupons.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Profit!

The usual FAQ/tips/etc.
Coupons are 1:1 - for each DVD traded, one coupon is given.
Coupons don't have to be used at time of trade in.
Coupons do not stack with each other. No combining U&S coupons for $40 off of the Star Wars box set.
Coupons MAY stack with price matches, manufacturer coupons, and current Best Buy promos. YMMV, ya know?
Discounts are taken from the selling price of the Blu-Ray $9.99 or higher. $9.99 becomes $4.99, $12.99 becomes $7.99, and so on. $4.99 Blu-Rays are still $4.99 though.
Coupons are B&M only - must be redeemed in-store.

Since this is a wiki post now, feel free to add in suggested titles (I prefer those $9.99 gems or sale items that become $4.99 after coupon, but to each their own) down below.

For a pretty comprehensive list, go here -> WV Matsui to the rescue! You should all give him a dollar.

Picked up Ghostbusters, FF7 Advent Children, Drive all for $5 after coupon and grabbed American Psycho for $5.

Probably gonna grab Naked Gun, Airplane, maybe the Hulks, Taxi Driver, Patriot. Idk i still have like 10 DVDs to trade in.
Also why you don't wanna use TV series, especially digipaks, with this. You get $5 per case, not per disc.
Lol, I bought a lot of 21 DVDs off eBay for $21 shipped and one was wrapped and had 2 cases. Split them into 2 and it counted. So I found some $1 DVDs (even less)
First 4 Fast movies 9.99 and the first 3 Underworld movies are 9.99 withe the last Underworld for 14.99
Thank you for this. I was looking to pick up the first 3 Underworld's and Tokyo Drift to complete the sets. Also considering the Riddick Collection for $15 AC if I can find it in store.

I picked up a bunch at a yard sale, (average price per disc $0.50) as well as some Dollar Tree movies, and Cheap movies that looked good, and I did not care for from places like big lots / target clearance et cetera

Church rummage sales are especially good as well.

Traded in some National Geographic DVDs I found at a yard sale for $1 each.

Grabbed:

Firefly: the complete series $15
Jackie Brown $5
Star Trek I $5
Star Trek II Wrath of Kahn $5
Star Trek VII Generations $5

Firefly is originally $30, on sale for $20. Been wanting to check it out for awhile.

And of course Jacky Brown is one of my all-time favorites. Would love to get that 20th Anniversery Quentin Tarintino pack but it's a little steep.

Gonna go back in and probably grab the rest of the Star Trek movies since this isn't a bad price.

I really liked the Star Trek reboot, but I'm interested in the older movies at $4.99 each AC. Are there any recommendations beyond Wrath of Khan (I plan on getting that one no matter what)? I've heard good things about The Voyage Home and First Contact...

Stopped in and grabbed Resident Evil Damnation for $5. I had a sealed DVD from a dollar store, the guy barely even looked at it and just scanned a coupon from the back for me. Sweet.

That's pretty much it for me this time around though.

Any chance that this is going to be extended? I really want to get Cloud Atlas which comes out next week but the sale goes off on the 11th. Any news of an extension??

Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and First Contact. Basically, the even numbered movies up to VIII (First Contact). Can also try Star Trek III: The Search for Spock since it kind of completes the trilogy (II, III, IV).
Highly, highly, highly doubtful. You'll just have to wait a few months for it to come back.
Yeah, these things don't get extended. Your only hope really is that there is an awesome manager who allows you to use a coupon after the expiration date. Always worth a try.

More blus showed up at my Best Buy this week, apparently. Still a few more I might get. Already up to 15 this time.
The DVDs are worth "nothing"... you just get a $5 coupon for each applicable (read: mass-produced, non-pornography) DVD.

This why people are giving BB a whole bunch of $1 or cheaper titles from dollar stores!
Ahhh interesting. Thanks for the info.

I'll second this list minus III. That was horrible and I wouldn't watch much less buy it for my collection. First Contact is the best one out of the NG bunch.

A lot of people didn't like IV but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Might be a bit dated now as there are a lot of period based jokes/references. It's a lot more light hearted than the others.

I'd recommend a 11 star trek movies cuz the price after coupon is perfect. I didnt bother though cuz theyre not the directors cut versions and you KNOW they'll make a set of those enhanced on blu ray at some point. But for $5 and if u dont care abiut just the theatrical releases get them all especially so you wont miss any story in between

Can confirm that the Fast and the Furious movies are $5 after coupon (Except Fast Five. That is $10 after coupon.) Picked up two of them with movie cash and slip cover today. Previously picked up The Raid, Sandlot, Drive and Horrible Bosses for $5 each. I was hoping 50/50 would go on sale, but oh well, this has bone a pretty decent run.

Stopped in and grabbed 5 more Star Trek movies, now missing Nemesis and Insurrection. Didn't realize you could only do 5 coupons per visit, but it's mentioned on the coupon. Now I have to go back for 2 movies.

I usually just get 5 movies per Best Buy upgrade a save deals: My choices this time - Django - $22.99, TMNT - $7.99, TMNT II - $7.99, 9 - $6.99 and Superman:Unbound - $9.99

Django is today's deal of the day. $17.99 for the blu-ray 2 pack.

Ugh...lame. The best buy employee kept my coupon/receipt...do you think I could price match it with today's deal and get $10 back?

Do you have RZ? It tracks all your purchases.

Thankfully I bout Django on the 27th of April. I will be going back for my price match today! Just under 15 days! :)
Did you get the BB exclusive Django or the standard 2 disc? I believe the standard is the only one on sale.
I got the one with the blu-ray/DVD/digital copy/ultraviolet. Is that the standard 2 disc one? It doesn't say best buy exclusive anywhere on it.

The Best Buy exclusive comes in a slightly larger package. It would be obvious that it's not just a regular Blu-ray case.
Went ahead and grabbed Kil Bill 1 and 2, Star Trek (2009) all $4.99 each, and Looper for $12.99 after coupon.
There opening a best buy in a couple days in my area gonna have to go check it out

Does the Upgrade & Save promo work with Deal of the Day items then? I wouldn't mind picking up Django Unchained for $13.

yes

Yes, III wasn't good, but it has context later on. It gives greater meaning to IV and VI. I only recommended it to watch, not to own.

Stopped in and grabbed the final two Star Trek movies, $50 for all ten is not bad! I forgot to bring in an extra disc for Django DoD. I was going to pass but decided to grab it anyway. I could have just put back one of the Trek movies and came back but I would have wasted at least $5 in gas, may as well bite the bullet.

I picked up Drive and Star Treks II, IV, VI, and VIII (based on the recommendations in this thread), all at $5 each. This U&S has probably been my biggest yet. :)

Picked up Titanic Bluray/DVD/Digital combo $12.99 AC
& The Secret of NIMH $4.99 on sale without any coupon.
Pricematch success!
I thought you couldn't Price match Deal of the Day sales. Silver members could price match amazon.com after they bought it.

So I go in on Monday to get my $5 coupon and the clerk didn't even check inside to see if there was a DVD (there was) but gave me a coupon anyway.

The anime section was nearly wiped out and there were barely any WWE DVD's. I was also looking for Superman vs. the Elite and came up empty. Therefore, I decided to use my coupon towards Resident Evil: Damnation and got it for $5. I was shocked to see an actual cashier at the registers for once.

I'll try another Best Buy tomorrow and pick up Superman: Unbound unless anything else grabs my attention.

Maybe it's YMMV? It worked for me. Made me very happy!

Man, Superman: Unbound was terrible IMO.

Agreed, however, it may be tough to find to rent just for the context going into IV.
