gkleinman, founder of DVDTalk, will provide details at midnight tonight (6/16). I will update this topic as more information develops. Odds are that it is this weekend, but I don't know for certain. Sorry to jump the gun and post with so little information, but I know not everyone here reads DVDTalk, and I wanted to provide a heads-up.

Anyone interested in the sale should prepare their wishlist as soon as possible. DDD slows down considerably during these sales (at least, it has in the past), so it is best to have a list of what you want before it starts.

the gilmore girls sets were for my friend, so hopefully i will get paid back, bringing my total down to about $160. i have to wait until tuesday to place my second order, as one of the films i want isn't released until then (dark water). unfortunately, i have a feeling that i'll end up adding enough to my second order to match the cost of the first one. it's no $1000, but it's still more than i really want to spend.
 
My follow-up wishlist is just about ready. Reading over what everyone else bought revealed some glaring holes in my collection (The Princess Bride, Freaks and Geeks). I also remember a couple of damaged dvds I've been meaning to replace (American History X, Empire of the Sun).

I just haven't decided if they're important enough to order now or just wait for the next sale this fall ... :whistle2:k

Yes. This one is usually retail around $35, comes with the box that fits all 7 platinum DVDs, the first DVD, and a parking sticker for NERV. I bought it at BB for about $37 with tax, you should def. pick it up if you plan on getting the Platinum Editions.
 
Looking at the special features of most of the Eva Platinum DVDs.. there are a bunch of additional products that come with the purchase..

I'm guessing those extras are included with the DVD no matter where you purchase it, right?

Damn, I need to get a job.. it's expensive being a discount shopper..

Yeah, but if the reruns have good ratings, and the movie does well, then they'd be crazy not to start the show back up. They've done it before.

Scifi is doing very well lately with their original series's, like Stargate and Battlestar Galactica. They'd love to get another quality series, and Firefly makes too much sense.

I hope they do make more seasons, but I don't know if the producers are even shopping it anymore, plus all of the actors might not be available. Some may be involved with other projects.

One rumor I did hear and I have no idea if it's true or not is that they will be making a triology of movies.

The producers are making another show, but its about to be cancelled.

Scifi would certainly jump at the chance to get it, if it were possible. They tried to pick up Babylon 5 Crusade right after TNT cancelled it.

I ditto this comment. Every scifi franchise these days has a rumor attached to it about a trilogy if it does well, mostly because smart directors want to hint that there is more to the story then just the one movie, maybe o get people more interested in the characters or to invest in liking the characters. Chronicles of Riddick immediately comes to mind.

The last time they did this sale, I only picked up 2 or 3 things and didn't have a problem with any of them going OOS, but I do know this sale causes a kind of feeding frenzy, so I was sort of bracing myself for a problem with it this time around. Especially with some of the more recent releases I picked up, like NewsRadio, Chappelle's Show, and Reno 911, which have all come out in just the last 3 weeks.

Rodeojones is right- they will come back in stock if they're out when you order, it's just a pain to have to wait for your stuff. You'll still get the discount when they get it back in as well.

Just a question for any Jet Li fans. Their's a bunch of Jet li movies for $6.30, and $5.04 after the discount. But most of them say that they're being released in August. Though I know for a fact that these movies have been out on DVD for years, such as Fist of Legend for instance. I was just wondering if anyone knew if the Jet Li Collection is getting re-released on DVD again, or if the site is just some how wrong.

The original Tranformers (and GI joe) sets are out of print. Rhino lost the license to produce them about a year ago. I believe Sony or Paramount have the licenses now, but have not announced what they plan do with them.
