Yes it does.

Beat it once through with the "A" ending and I'm going to go through it again to get the achievements I missed. Really enjoyed it but the save system is just as cumbersome as the first game. You can have more save files than one but still there are no checkpoints so if you die, you reload the last time you manually saved. I really like how all your stats carry over to DR2 though.
Its is out now. I added to my Download queue this morning. Can't wait to play when I get home from work.
I love Dead Rising.
Same here. Can't wait to get home!

Here's all the combos if anyone wants them:

Nails + Baseball Bat = Spiked Bat
Nails + Propane Tank = IED
Power Drill + Bucket = Drill Bucket (this one is awesome)
Parking Pylon + Spray Paint = Air Horn
Leaf Rake + Battery = Electric Rake
Beer + Construction Hat = Beer Hat
Whiskey + Newspaper = Molotov Cocktail
Shotgun + Pitchfork = Boomstick

I am loving the gameplay mechanics so far. I love killing zombies, and the first Dead Rising was suppose to be the perfect game for me. But after playing and encountering flaw after flaw, I grew more distressed with the game. I picked this one up hoping they fixed some of the issues I had, and they have! I will most definitely pick this up coming September.

one positive I have so far from this
+you can move while shooting

I'm really sad that load times are still there as much as they were in dr1
Anyone know how to get into the hunting shop?
Jump up on the roof where the dude is shooting zombies. Then jump onto the AC unit by the stairwell and from there jump across to the adjacent AC unit. From there make your way around that roof until you reach a hole with graffiti pointing at it. Jump down and you're in the shop. Unlock the door and you're free to come and go as you please.

Also I neglected to mention the last combo weapon:
Paddle + Chainsaw = Paddlesaw

About the "good ending"
that is by far THE WORSE vehicle sequence ever. It's sad when the damn cart holding the motorcycle controlled and gave you a better view then the actual vehicle itself. This makes me shudder for the full on game and possibly longer vehicle sequences.
Other then that it basically is a small expansion of Dead Rising 1, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there is an overabundant need to save still since no checkpoints.

When I first heard about Case Zero, I thought there was no way I'd be paying for what essentially sounded like a demo. But the reviews I have seen are fairly positive. For $5, I think I'm gonna cave. I need me some more Dead Rising action.
Only need two more achievements (Still Creek Survivor and Small Town, Deep Pockets) and I'll have this game 100%.
Do you need to spend all $100k in one playthrough for this one?

Also, does the PP you earn carry over to the full game, or is it just the level?

It carries over to the full game, but the game only lets you level up to 5. Plus as far as me and my friends can tell, it has to be in one playthrough you have to spend it, BUT each time you beat the game it saves up the amount of money you had.

Yea as far as the spending 100k achievement goes, I would suggest
rescue the man and the woman in the bar and then find the chick's gems by the quarantine zone. That nets you 30k and then just die and do that again a couple of times.

I'm also kind of wondering if all the PP carries over to DR2 does that mean if you have more than level 5, you will gain those levels?

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I hit level 5 already, and that bar that shows how much PP you need to level up is already completely full.

I Hope it does. Since it sucks playing the game underpowered. Also curious if money transfers to the actual game as well.

Do you have to build all the weapon combos in one play through or can you build them over multiple play throughs and still get the achievement?

Long as you save it after you beat it, you can do it over multiple playthroughs.

cool thanks.

I never played the 1st Dead Rising and after picking up Case Zero this morning this game went from a maybe to a must buy!

Had to do it all in one play through for me.
oh god
the stupid kill a small bug and kill lots of zombies thing is back? wtf
Wasn't familiar with it myself, but I've found using that as a weapon has been pretty fun - especially after finding the blender mix that activates it.

Just finished getting all the achievements. Took me about 2 and half playthroughs. The load times coming to and from the safe house are pretty crucial so hopefully those don't carry over into DR2 but other than I'm pretty stoked for the new game. AI doesn't seem to get chomped by zombies as easily as they did in the first game, which was my biggest frustration.

I wish more games had some kind of "demo" like this. For $5 you get a real feel about the full game and then you can decide if you want it or not. Only played a bit of it but I like it so far.

That's what renting is for ;)
Oh, and no voice acting for the people you're supposed to rescue? Seriously?
What? I Love the old man on top of the van. He sounds like a South Park elderly character.

It was sort of the how the zombie virus was explained in the first game, it would not have made sense if they ignored it.

Was worried about the developer change that the game would feel like a big departure from the original, but this is great.

They talk to try to get your attention but all of the conversations are just plain text. Also, I'm pretty sure its "puke and rally", not "puking rally" Fausto. You sound black too.
Oh, and no voice acting for the people you're supposed to rescue? Seriously?
I'm not sure what this means... the AI in the other game had no VA. Aside from "boohoohoo" and "FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANK"
Anyone know how to get into the hunting shop?
From the roofs. Right across the gas station there's a way to get on top, follow the roof on the left side until you're close enough to jump from one AC unit to the next and from there just go around the building and you should be able to just drop in.
Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I hit level 5 already, and that bar that shows how much PP you need to level up is already completely full.
It's capped at level five, so you'll start at level five in DR2. The extra PP is just for leaderboards.

It's cumulative for all playthroughs, as it's one of the stats it keeps through each playthrough. If you do the one escort mission, you'll have to go to the shop to get some Zombrex for $25k.

It's a nice demo/arcade, worth the $5. Noticed they changed the text size to a bigger font right away. Funny how the utility cart in Case Zero is more durable than the vehicles in the maintenance tunnels of DR1. I went for the 1,000 kill immediately. My 1,000th kill was a hot Waitress Zombie. So far really enjoyed it, definitely worth multiple playthroughs.

anyone else notice this? Chuck Greene's shirt/jacket/racing team is Ijiek? So it's C.G.I., an in-game joke perhaps? =)

I am SO glad that they increased the font size for us SDTV users, as a gamer I totally appreciate that effort from Blue Castle.

Now I don't have to squint to read!

And also this game is pretty fun, I just started gathering the items, played it for an hour, and had a good time, will beat it later today. I love how dramatic this one is compared to 1, I really get a sense of emotion here. The other Dead Rising is more of a B movie thing, but this one (whether they went for it or not) doesn't feel like that to me.

Did anyone else have this problem? When D/L videos , demos, etc.. when the downloading stopped the game went to a loading screen the game reset. I stopped all downloads and the problem never happened again.

I played through this twice last night. Loved every minute. It's a great introduction to Dead Rising gameplay to anyone who may have missed the first one or been burned by the save system. Dead Rising 2 seems to have corrected all the wrongs from the first game and improved on the things that made it great.

The game is great for what it's worth. Makes me want to play the original Dead Rising again!

Yea but this is the sequel. Is it unreasonable to expect they made some advancements in the series in four years?

I saw other people post about this issue on other forums.

I didn't like the first Dead Rising. I hated the single save slot, and something happened where I had to start over again, I couldn't read any text even on my HDTV, and so on...I just gave up on it. But I REALLY wanted to like it, it seemed like my type of game. I checked out the trial version of Case Zero last night, and I loved it. The trial version was only, like, 20 minutes long or so, but as soon as it ended, I knew I had to buy the full version (which I will hopefully play later). So far, it's a step above the first game. Some issues I had with the first game were fixed (like the small text), which is great. I also loved combining weapons to make badass weapons! I wasn't planning on buying DR2, but once I finish Case Zero, if it goes the way I expect, DR2 will be a must buy!

I didn't realize there was a demo of the demo. It's definitely worth the $5.
Yea but this is the sequel. Is it unreasonable to expect they made some advancements in the series in four years?
Apparently yes. The save system is mostly the same, the graphics are pretty laughable for a 2010 game (including random pop-ins), and like you mentioned.. no voice-overs from the survivors. This just seems like Dead Rising DLC with a plot. I haven't finished Case Zero yet but if I do and I'm not swayed to the other side of the fence then I'm going to cancel my pre-order.

Spend $5, save $50. I enjoy this price structure.

I'd hardly call VA an advancement. Game was perfect as-is. Little tweaks here and there and they're set. Just need to iron out some engine issues.

Or you can just jump out the tall window to the left of when you enter the hotel, and there are wooden planks connecting the rooftops. Then you just have to follow the roof around... no jumping needed.
