CAGiversary!
Update: 4/16/05

Ths deal is now dead.
Go home... the party is over.

What's that? You wanna be the weird guy that hangs out after the party to talk about how cool the party was even though you were also the guy everyone at the party was trying to get away from?

Fine.... We'll say open for ya... BUT NO STICKY FOR YOU!

Thanks to everyone.... and don't forget.... now that you've gotten an entire library of PSP games for damn near free... don't forget to at least say hi to your DS once in a while.....

Your DS misses you....

Toodles!

UPDATE 4/11/05: As some of you may know... this deal advertised as "3 Trades for 1 PSP Game" is over as of 4/10. However, EBGames.com indicates that the deal is still fresh until the 15th, but you must trade in 6 for 2 games in one transaction in order for it to work.

Under In-Store Promotions, EBGames.com reads:
"Free select PSP title with PS2/XB/GC game trade-in (pre-purchase) Active: Now - 4/15/2005
Trade-in 6 qualifying pre-played PS2/XB/GC games and receive $79.98 towards the pre-purchase of 2 of the following titles: GRETZKY NHL HOCKEY PSP or TWISTED METAL: HEAD ON PSP or WORLD TOUR SOCCER PSP or ATV OFFRD FURY BLAZIN TRLS PSP or APE ESCAPE PSP or NBA PSP or WIPEOUT PURE PSP or MLB PSP. Game boxes and instructions are required. Some titles are excluded from trade. May be combined with other EB Promotions. Typographical errors are not the responsibility of EB Games. Not valid on hardware. See sales associate for complete details. Customer may be responsible for sales tax."

Some stores may or may not honor this promo, and some stores may still let you only trade in 3 for 1. Regardless, we'll keep this thread stickied until the 16th, then officially kill it 14 days after the 15th, for all you guys trying to exchange your items obtained on the 15th. In any case, the trade-in deal is YMMV, and exchanging the PSP games is even more YMMV.

Good luck to all of you on the final days of what is sure to be the most memorable, and profitable, trade-in deal of 2005!

Here's the scoop.

EBGames In Store is having an in-store promotion on the preorder/purchase of PSP games that could potentially make your initial launch library damn near free.

Here's the deal......

ebpspfree6ss.jpg

With this deal, gamers need only trade in THREE games not on THIS LIST to receive one of the EIGHT games shown above.

gretzkyfree3al.jpg

For those of you who can put two and two together, understand that when you get the game from EB it bumps the value of each game that might be normally traded in for 50 cents, up to a third of the price of any of those 39.99 games.

Then, with your sealed game in hand, and receipt (or better, gift receipt) for said game, you are not prohibited from later exchanging it for store credit for the full $40 value of the game.

In essence, the deal isn't "just for those 8 PSP games" because you can still exchange any one of them within 14 days of purchase for full credit.

Better yet... get your credit back on a gift card (make sure it has scratch off pin numbers) and use it online.

Above deal ends April 10th.

Sound easy?
Good.

NOTE: Though this isnt a YMMV deal, the clerks all over don't seem to be too refreshed on it... so make sure you're cool with the employees enough to share some patience until they work it out in the computer.
i think i'm gonna put together a list of games people hava already traded in now, for the convenience of everyone in this thread. somebody might have already done that but i might as well do an updated one.......

Ok today I traded in...

Enter The Shit...er Matrix (PS2)
Final Fantasy X-2
Tony Hawks Underground (PS2)

Pre-ordered Twited Metal.
just go to whichever store..... and find the games that are in the 3-5 dollar price range. write them down on a list, and go home. then check the POX list for those games. go back to the store later on and purchase the games not on the POX list. ......... i know it might be a bit tedious.......
Forms must be postmarked by 5-15-05. All incomplete forms will be discarded. One Gift Voucher per person per address. No dealers please. $10.00 Gift Voucher will be sent, by e-mail, in the form of an EBgames.com coupon code, which may be used only at EBgames.com. EBgames.com Gift Vouchers must be used in full. Uh, I think the gift voucher only applies if you bought the PSP games online at EBgames.com, and you can only spend the voucher online.

I went to an Eb in my area (Chicagoland) and they don't know about the trade in 3 for 1 one PSP game offer. They only know about that trade in a game for $10 towards a PSP game preorder...anyone else in the Chicagoland area try to do the 3 for 1 offer? Any suggestions on what I can say to the employee? Thanks.

But it says you can only do it by doing the trade in deal, which you can only do in stores... so I dunno.

That's funny..because the employees at my local EBGames don't know shit about the $10 trade-in deal. They know about the trade in 3 games for a first-party PSP game...but that's because they have a ton of flyers of it on their counter.

I have called and talked to the manager at my eb and they didn't know about either until I forced them to look them up. Sure enough she found them and maid me a happy camper. I have about 9 games I'm willing to trade but I think I'm going to go shoping for some b2g1 deals so I can keep soom of them. No use trading in burnout 3 if I can get jampack 11 to work!

The EB I went to today didn't have a single trade in deal. No $10 trade-in, no 3 games for a first party PSP game. They even offered me $22 for like 10 games I was thinking of trading in(GS offered me $40, FYE $48)... I don't think I'm ever going to bother with EB again since it's out of the way anyway..

these deals are for all EBs, so those employees dont know their deals. Just tell them to call another EB, or simply just insist they scan the 3 games in for a trade in and pre order your psp game.

I also live in Chicago, which EB store did you visit? The promotion is in their system...plus the green flyers should be on the counter. The Broadview, IL location knows about this promotion, but limits to 1 copy of each game per trade per person ... for life. Yeah, the manager was cordial and all, but she did an actual background check on me and said she could only accept one copy of any game, even if I had traded that game two weeks ago. Crazy!!!!!

Is Jampack 11 for Xbox or PS2?
PS2 = Jampacks

Xbox = Exhibition Discs

:)
thanks

Outlaw Golf (the BB exclusive $3) PO
Outlaw Volleybal (BB exclusive $3) POX
Zapper (Green Tag TRU game that is often kept in the back $4) PO
Crash Bandicoot WoC (GC $5 at BB) PO
Astro Boy PS2(god this game was terrible) PO

My receipt has Promo #3471 and #3404 on it...I got MLB 06' and NBA, so maybe there's different promos for the different games that you preorder...This is a funny looking receipt though, she rang it up kind of wierd, gave me $20 for exhibition volume 5 :)

Actually, it sounds like they were trying to scam you. They give you $22 for your games which they cover themselves, then turn around and get themselves a couple of PSP games for next to nothing. Never take for granted that employees at game stores are honest, I've known far too many personally that have huge collections now because they were able to take advantage of customers.

I would call EB's corporate office, tell them everything, especially that you will never shop them again. They often respond to such things in your favor.

I'm pretty sure this is BS, as EB has no such tracking system in their computers. I've had no trouble trading in multiples, aside from the weird look I get from the people working there. And I sincerely doubt anyone at EB has the authority or resources to do real background checks on customers.

Hi all,
I just stumbled upon this site a couple days ago, and I sure am glad this site is great. Anyhow just thought I'd add my two points into this thread. I went to a couple EB's today. One wouldn't accecpt some of my trades because they didn't have manuals, they also wouldn't let me trade multiple copies of the same game with-in the same day. The other didn't trip about no manuals, I am not too sure about the multiple copies thou. The cool part about the second store though is they just got two copies of PSP games that were on the promotion, Soccer and Hockey, I picked up Soccer and the rest are on pre-order, he said i can pick them up whenever they arriave. Here is a pic below, oh yeah this store was in vegas...the one across from the mall on maryland for any vegas heads out there.
It's kinda large so i'll just post a link
http://img211.exs.cx/img211/6141/dsc019815jo.jpg

That sucks that they made you pay tax, I thought since the purchase was technically free because the trade ins paid for it there wasn't supposed to be tax (maybe it varies by state?)

I traded

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (GC)
Harvest Moon Wonderful Life (GC)
FF Crystal Chronicles (GC)

for Wipeout Pure

i traded

jampack v11 ($5 at Fred Meyer)
GC cubix ($5 at Blockbuster)
xbox holiday outlaw gold ($3 at Blockbuster)

for twisted metal... Those outlaw golf demos do work! Woohoo!

Just traded in these for Ape Escape:

XB Furious Karting
XB Group S Challenge
XB Pulse Racer

All were $4.53 after GAG16 and Edge from EB. =) I finally got to use some of my 2/$10 trade-in credit from last month.

The only sad part is that my local EB isn't taking Jampack 11 anymore, as they've `got too many'. Sigh. Just FYI, if you can find it, Gamestop has used JP11's for $2.99 before any deals.

I finally had some time to do this, and I took the list I made.

Jampack 11 was a NOGO at my Ebgames, some guy traded in TWENTY jampack 11s....

Anyway, I went to blockbuster (buy2g1free preown) And Gamestop and got :

PO Charlies Angels (FREE)
PO Nightshade ($9 at BB)
PO Psi Ops ($12 at BB)

$21 For Twisted Metal.

PO Enter the Matrix (ps2 - $9.99 at Gamestop)
PO Black N Bruised (ps2 - $7.99 at gamestop)
PO Outlaw golf, 9 extra holes (Xbox - $4.99 at Gamestop)

$22.97 For Lumines.

Not as great of a deal as if I would have been able to throw in a few jampacks in that mix.

Still better than paying $39.99 + tax ;)

You were able to trade in only 3 games for Lumines? That game wasn't listed on the flyer I had for the 3 game=free PSP game deal. How did you get them to give it to you?
yeah, is it now good on lumines
Lumines is not a first-party Sony PSP game. Although I am wondering how darkje got Lumines by trading in only 3 games...

You'd think that people would have realized that taking in a ton of Jampacks was going to get them excluded in some way or another. I traded in a couple (3-4), but spread them out over a month. It was good filler while it lasted though.

As for getting Lumines, the clerk may have done a pre-order for one of the other games on the list, cancelled it and then put the $$ toward Lumines. Or they could just have added it to the promo. =)

I'm hoping they added it to the promo, cause the flyer i have says "no substitutions" and they are really strict at my EB about the fine print.

I told the clerk to preorder wipeout pure. Once the transaction was done, I asked him if he could cancel my preorder and then use the credit I got from it to order Lumines. He said, no problem at all.

My receipt looks like this :

ORDER CANCEL : xxxxx
WIPEOUT PURE PSP 0.00

PRESELL ORDER DEPOSIT xxxxx
LUMINES PSP 39.99

TOTAL : 39.99
DEPOSIT CANCEL : 39.99
CHANGE : 0.00

bump.

just updated the front page with the flyer and a receipt.

i may just use all this store credit for another PSP...

this deal is too good to be true.

BUT IT'S TRUE!

awsome find...

one thing people can do to not get "caught" is go to one EB to buy games and then another to get this deal at. just if you feel dirty doing this.

Oh! and for those of you who might not know, if you already have the EB edge card it makes this deal a little sweeter with 10% off your already crap cheap games you'll want to trade in. (you'll save like 10 cents... but hey we ARE CAGs... )

For about 70 bucks I preordered wipeout pure, darkstalkers, untold legends and twisted metal. Plus I get a 10 dollar rebate for buying wipeout and twisted metal making the deal sweeter.

It's a few pages back...

You can also ask for one in the store. An employee actually gave it the rebate form even though I didn't know they had them in store. On a side note, he was very nice about the whole deal which doesn't seem to happen often at EB

Awesome! Traded in 9 crap games and got Ape Escape, Twisted Metal, and Wipeout. Also picked up THUG. Only games left that I want to buy are Lumines and maybe Untold Legends.
