[Deal Dead] Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles $14.99 at Sam Goody [Now $49.99]
on their website it says the game isnt released until the 15, so they cant possibly have shipped.
ive always wanted to quote myself

Unknown reasons? We all know the reason, but they don't?

If anyone actually gets the game DELIVERED let us know.

I talked to a Customer Service rep. He basically said that the item was just out of stock. I asked him if that was what the "Unknown Reasons" thing meant, and he basically said yeah, your order is still open and once it is back in stock, it will be shipped out. I didn't push it any farther than that, but it looks like they haven't cancelled orders en masse or anything yet.

Funny you say that cause sam goody seems to think otherwise.
Why does Sam Goody think otherwise? They are still taking reservations and aren't shipping until 2/15.

The messages we're getting might happen to all of those who pre-order there.

When I check my order status online, it clearly states that the game has been shipped. Error on their part. I fully understand that SamGoody won't have the game in stock till the 15th. Click the text, it's a screenshot.

im not sure what you mean by that as their website clearly say that the game is released on the 15th so i dont know how to respond to you.
i really just wanted to quote myself quoting myself.

Also, just so you know, when you check that order status screen, it automatically sends the detail you get to your email. So it is no coincidence that you get that email from them almost immediately after you check the status online. The "Your Order Has Shipped" message is erroneous.

Yeah, I just noticed the print on the bottom.
Spidey, you may want to photoshop your order number out of that pic, or remove the pic entirely. Just a suggestion.
Good advice, make sure you protect yourself and your order even though this a good community for the most part. And Shania Twain, come on.

Point noted. Screenshot removed. Thanks. :)

I was going to clear the order number out but I was halfway through uploading the pic and was too lazy to do so. Better safe than sorry eh?

I know the anxioty is killing you, but you calling customer service is going to kill you faster.

Riiiiiight...because I'm sure a call asking about an order status sticks out like a sore thumb. It's not like the brain-dead customer service rep is going to know this game usually sells for more. He didn't even know this was a pre-order, he just thought it was "out of stock."
What could someone even do with the number
Call customer service, give them the order number, shmooze a little, get account info ("which cc did I use?", "what do you have down for my address?"), possibly cancel the order (which most likely won't make much difference in this instance), or, at the very least, check order status hundreds of times, each one generating an annoying email to him.

As they say, "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."

They haven't even charged my card yet so whatever.

I'll be skeptical about them honoring the order if I don't recieve word of the game shipping come Tuesday.

I doubt they would honor it since they must have got 1000s of orders so someone is going to see that they are selling a game for $15 that they have to buy for around $42 and they will cancel the order.

If everyone bought one and didn't post on fat wallet they might have shipped before anyone found out.

I was the first one to see this deal (at least the first to post) and I didn't even bother trying to buy it 'cause I knew what would happen.

I hope some of you actually get the game because it is very fun, but don't get your hopes up.

Well, I got this email from Sam Goody this morning:

I received the same message today. Of course my card has not been charged yet. But according to their website they do not charge you until it ships.
Ditto on my order.
They are "working hard" to get the game to me.
Maybe when it is a greatest hit, I will get it
They weren't shipping until the 15th, but you can't ship on a Sunday. So today would be the first day they would ship.

I know I'll be checking my CC to see if the charge went through about 3 today...

Ditto on that eMail about it being backordered; got mine at 5AM this morning. Also, my credit card HAS been charged.

Hey, I already have the game; I'm just picking up some spares. Hea. It kicks ass.

Actually, they couldn't ship today either. President's Day.

I realized that when I pulled up to the post office to mail off some auctions. Oops.

Got the same e-mail. Has anyone had their order cancelled?

LOL at the Greatest Hits comment. Although you meant players choice.

How can a game jump straight from preorder to backorder? I think Sam Goody is intentionally putting the game on hold until a reasonable amount of time passes so that they can lawfully cancel our orders. They'd rather not sell a single copy at regular price than selling all the copies at $15. BTW, the price has just jumped again from $45 to $50.

I'll wait it out. I'm giving them three weeks, and then I'm calling customer service. I've only got 2 copies ordered, so ~$30 tied up on my credit card is no big whoop.

Thats my guess. I think they "hold out" backorders for three weeks and cancel them without emailing you. I once ordered a cd a few years back from the website. I assume it was cancelled, that or my backorder should be hitting those terrible two's soon.

The stupid thing is they can't sell any games if it stays on backorder. I wonder if you could find a copy at a retail store if you could get them to honor your preorder there.

I wonder how many people who pre-ordered the game at $44.99 at the site are bitching right now.

When you place an order they preauthorize your credit card. The credit card company then holds that authorization for 10 days. If after 10 days the charging company (ex. Sam Goody) does not claim the funds, the preauthorization drops and you lose out on the advertised price.

I called the customer support line and asked them when they plan on getting in the game. Her reply was that backorder products normally take 3-4 weeks to get in stock again. I also asked her if i would be able to pick my online order at a store and she said no if you ordered a product online you must wait for it to be shipped. bummer

I assume they're probably just going to leave the game on backorder and cancel our orders without fessing up to us. However, someone on fatwallet claims their game just shipped and they got a tracking number for it, so perhaps there is hope.

Not true at all. I got my GameStop Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando for 10 bucks 2 months after they adjusted their price. GameStop screwed up what they sent me, but they honored the price months after. Same with a dozen other CAGs here.
someone on fatwallet claims their game just shipped and they got a tracking number for it, so perhaps there is hope.
I doubt this person was telling the truth. The deal was posted here first (I assume), meaning that CAGs likely took advantage of the deal before fatwallet users did. Someone on this site would likely get their order shipped first.

I am fairly certain I got a copy on order well before the deal appeared on fatwallet. The game has still not shipped for me and is still listed as being on backorder.

It's probably some Sam Goody employee who was told to say this so that we would believe that they are honoring the price. I'm sure they will just state that never could get any copies of the game in after the first shipment. Therefore they had to cancel all orders.

Can they do that? Can they hold copies and just say they aren't in stock? I think that when they do come back in stock we should all demand the price we ordered them for.

Sam Goody will likely try to convience you the game "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles" never existed. Infact, they'll probably just mail you a copy of Sly Cooper.

Legally, of course they can't. But you can't really search their warehouse for inventory. We won't let this slip by that easily, unless they are not planning to sell this game ever again.

If they happen to cancel my order I plan on issuing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
I suggest you all do the same if it comes to that.

Boy, it's starting to sound like FW over here.

Look... it was a price mistake. The key word being MISTAKE. They made an error. If they choose to fulfill orders, then count yourself lucky and thank them for the game at well below their cost. If you don't get the game then just move on. Don't try and punish a company for not wanting to lose a ton of money on an error. And don't try and make out on someone else's misfortunes. Remember this company has employees. These employees count on their jobs, and their jobs are more stable when they company is NOT losing money. Too often, people just think of a company as some faceless entity and they don't realize that the company is made up of working people.
