Deathsmiles Limited Edition $39.82 w/ FSS at Amazon

IMO this would get more sales if it were on XBLA. I can get Cave shmups on the iPhone/iPod for $10 (or less when they're on sale)...

But then you wouldn't get the underage chicks on the boxart and a physical soundtrack CD, plus the faceplate for your phat 360, if any ;)

Then the upcoming XBLA port of Guwange will be perfect for you.

Some people don't care about the soundtrack. I didn't. I just wanted the game and was happy to pay the "tax" to support Cave. It was still ridiculously cheaper then an import Cave shmup! If it were coming out today in both limited and just the game versions, I would pick the latter. So, yeah, if you just want the game you might want to wait for that version.

Bought it at 28.99 a few weeks ago on Amazon, so the price should drop again. I enjoy the shmup part of it, and the theme reminds me of a cross between Kid Icarus and Castlevania, but the weirdo pedo stuff grosses me out so I have to skip all the cut scenes.

Yeah, this was a day one purchase for me @ $50, although I still have not gotten around to it due to such a large back-log. Anyways, Amazon has been advertising the game at this price for what has seemed like months, already, and they never seem to budge. My thought: Either people are not purchasing any copies of the game or they're selling just enough to justify keeping it at this $40 price tag. If you're on the fence though, I say give it some time, as it will most likely fall even more.

This game is a lot of fun. For those complaining about resolution, note that the Arcade version is the Arcade version. It's low rez because it was low rez. The 360 mode is HD resolution, albeit not widescreen. I think the game looks good in 360 mode and it's a lot of fun and I like the Arcade mode too, just go into it understanding that it's the resolution of the arcade release.

I paid full price and even put the faceplate on my 360. I don't regret it at all.

I plan on playing it on Halloween.
The 360 mode is HD resolution, albeit not widescreen.
I apologize for splitting hairs, but the 360 mode isn't really completely HD. The character sprites have been redrawn, but the backgrounds are just scaled up from their original SD. It's understandable that redrawing all the art would have required a much larger budget than could be justified.
