Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

I invaded nixmahns nightfall run and got a legendary weapon engram (he got an exotic helmet), then we did weekly and got the usual coins and such.

Went to the tower and one of my blues turned into a purple gun so I ended up with a new monarchy sniper and a fusion rifle thats blue...maybe its from crucible? I kept both since the sniper has penetrating bullets and the fusion is the only void fusion I have.

After that I ended up just clearing out my bounties so I could pick up the iron banner ones. I want that ib pistol and the level 5 shader...and I do like the guantlets but doubt I can get the money together to get it all. I ended up just doing one round of IB before it was bed time but I had a postive K/D so its all progress towards Thorn :)

 
Hopped onto the PS3 version last night to try and catch up with a few of the friends there.  Of course they were already running the Crota raid... rats.

So I do the natural thing and try to learn the new lamp strat :) . But I keep falling like a brick as I get close to the edge :whistle2:( .  I'll need to see if my settings are wrong or something.

Well, those friends eventually pm me to help with the Crota boss fight.  Turns out that they were tired of carrying a LFG player.  Dude was 31, but running blues and fresh VoG guns (cough... Atheons Epilogue... cough).

Anyway, I end up with shards.  But the highlight was the friend who got No Land Beyond from Crota... best part, that was his 3rd NLB received during the night (1 from NF, 1 from Deathsinger and 1 from Crota).  Talk about cruel and unusual punishment :lol: .

Afterwards, I go and do NF and get squat, well nothing memorable anyway.

Team up with some other friends for a VoG run and I finally got a FATEBRINGER!!! :bouncy:

This raid also gave me my first Hezen's Vengeance, another Corrective Measure and another Vision of Confluence...

Hey Ma, look at meee... I'm gaming like it's 2014 :lol:

But seriously, love that I got Fatebringer.  Praedyth's timepiece just doesn't cut it for these ARC burn NF's

Ran Crota's end 2 times and I am surprised at how fast our group finished it (30-35 mins each run) given that it was random people. Got Swordbreaker, Light of the abyss, and Thunderlord. Still missing the hunters chest piece and the Black hammer from crota's raid though. I have a titan at level 29 and I don't feel like farming the iron banner for the level 36 gauntlets.

 
I gotta get those gauntlets so I can cheat my way to 32.

Solo'd the lantern on my warlock. Honestly not hard, just max agility and have a weapon with +2 agility.

Soloed bridge as well, took a little bit to get the timing down, lost the sword just as I made it across so I just had to avoid the gate keeper
 
PSA time again...  Digital Upgrade program ends at 1:00am, Jan.15th

Which means you've got about 7 hours to double your pleasure, double your fun... ;)

or in my case triple the heartache, triple the grief 

 
Just did Weekly stuffs tonight and VoG (Atheon cp full of noobs lvls 27 didn't know what to do) and all I got was lame legendary. I was hoping for new Exotic wep to improve my firearms but no luck yet , all I've got is Thorn, 2nd bounty is on the road and Dragon Breath.

Last night I got invited to a raid group so I didnt do any Iron Banner. 

The group was already past the lanterns so I did bridge, deathsinger, and then they started bailing after only a couple attempts at crota. Weaksauce. Took a break for dinner.

Got back on and got invited to another raid group. Did lanterns through deathsingers then instead of doing crota they wanted to start over with different characters??? WTF??? Second run through with some different people mixed in we got to the deathsingers and people were just completely clueless. On one attempt I drew out the left witch. Killed her. Ran back in killed the shrieker, went to the other side killed that shrieker, ran into the middle up high and started wailing on the deathsinger and looked up to see everyone dead outside and one guy jumping around outside fighting knights oblivious to the point of the whole thing.

Its been a long time since I've wiped so much on that part without a glitch happening. After about 8-10 tries they finally got it together.

Once we got to crota people left again. This is what its like playing with cheese teams now that its been somewhat patched.

It sucks and you will never get to beat crota they wont even try because hey they have full armor from cheese and are 31 or 32 despite having no clue and sucking majorly...

It was not a total waste of time as I picked up the hunter boots and titan chest (I felt like I really earned that shit doing the 75% of the raid twice for no reason trying to help people who then bail at crota like scared bitches).

Yeah, I am so glad I latched on to a dependable group (on Xbox One). Way back in the days when hard mode Atheon was kind of a new thing, I got invited by some randoms in the Tower since they needed a 6th. I was level 30 and had my fully-upgraded Gjallahorn equipped so they picked me because of those two things. I often didn't have it equipped since I used Icebreaker a lot back then (and still do) so that was a lucky break. I was hesitant because I figured hard mode was way beyond anything I wanted to deal with, but I went for it and got rewarded with the VoG helm on my first try. Later I got the helms for my other chars, and what is still my go-to weapon: Fatebringer. And eventually (though it took a while): Vex Mythoclast. Oh yeah, and more ascendant shards than I could handle (after running VoG this week for the first time in a while, I have 101 shards just in my Warlock's inventory).

But that group has 3 things going for it: 1) They are very good 2) They run the Raid at reset which is perfect for me since I'm always available then and not always on Tuesday evening (when the CAG group wants to run it). 3) They are consistent and reliable. We now always do three Crota runs end-to-end. Oh yeah, and a bonus #4: they continue to invite me despite me being the scrub of the group (at least I think I am ;)).

Our 3rd run Monday night took no longer than 30 minutes and that was doing the whole thing legit, including all 6 one at a time across the second bridge. We had cheesed that in the past just to save time, but it really didn't take much longer (and overall that was probably our fastest run even including when we cheesed the bridge). We never cheesed Crota so the 2 guys who run the sword have it down perfectly.

It is always going to be trickier to find a random group than it was on Atheon because you really do need that one specialist with the sword who has to be level 32 (preferably), quick, able to platform really well, and have good timing. If you are with randoms and no one is 32, I'd just bail as it will most likely just end up being frustrating. Obviously it can be done by a level 31 with the sword, but it takes even more skill and better timing as you have to take Crota down more times and get more hits in on him when you do.

And yet despite all that I'm still without any helms or a Hunger of Crota after 18 Crota loot drops (that's 3 every week since it came out)...

Destinlylfg group spanked crota check point in no time and got my second rocket launcher...not bad...doing my titan later tonight. 

Sorry about your lack of launchers man...as you know RNGesus like to give you shit you already have and if you complain he gives you energy :)

Whoa, really? That is odd timing: Weds. morning... I guess that is good so we can run it normal on Tuesday to prep (and hopefully get everyone to 32 with all their characters) then hit it again Wednesday night.

We knew the 33 was coming because of the advisor on bungie.net (which says 33). But yeah, hopefully nothing is any higher than 33 otherwise it will be impossible to kill Crota unless there is a stealth level cap increase with new Raid gear (and wouldn't that just piss people off!).

Ah, so it might be something like Level 32 raid, with enemies maxing at lvl 33.

That would keep any 29's from getting into the hard Crota raid, which should be fine since everyone has an easy path to at least lvl 31

 
Crota round 2 gave me black hammer did it super fast again with lfg group.

Got invited to VOG hard and did gatekeeper and atheon to help some people. Got another epilogue.

LOL then nightfall gave me 12 acendent energy for reals...

I dont have the shards to get to 32 by next week...maybe after running it a couple more times...or if I finally level my warlock...theoretically I could do 4 but would probably get energy :p

I witnessed this.

Earlier while with 7 I got Plan C from a ROC strike and Monte Carlo from the Gorgon chest. This really has been one of my best weeks RNGwise. Hoping it continues tomorrow and Xur FINALLY sells Heart of the Praxic.

 
So I've got a trio of people, including myself, who are trying to get the headcount to start doing VoG on Normal. I'm running a lvl 30 Titan/28 Warlock, and the two of them are both level 25/26 Hunters. We have attempted to 3-man the starting pillar event, which ended in hilarious disaster. I'm the one with the most time on my hands to play, so I'm all geared out, but the other two ppl in my group are only moderately so.

Hours are pretty wonky, we usually play late night (after midnight PST/West Coast time, through sometimes as late as 4 or 5 AM), since the third person in our group is currently living abroad.

Weekends we're usually available in the earlier evening (6pm-ish), but yeah, if anyone would like to help out or simply needs a solid 3 players to add to their group msg me on PSN or PM me here (same name for both). I won't respond to invites on PSN if I don't know you/you don't include that you're from CAG in the msg.

Bummer. Too bad you guys are on the PS3 as I've been looking for a group to raid with a little more consistently and your schedule aligns with mine. I'm sure your group will find some other CAGs to join up with pretty easily though. Best of luck.

Nice! I desperately needed a new exotic helmet with better perks/stats for my Warlock. I also picked up another Ice Breaker so I don't have to swap weapons around as often. Thanks Xur!

That's unfortunate he isn't selling exotic engrams this week as I was really hoping to unload some motes of light from the ever growing stash. Maybe next week.

Xur is garbage for me. I guess it's to be expected when you get to the point where I'm at but it's disapointing none the less. I already have Obsidian Mind (Mine's better :p) and three Icebreakers. I have the other exotic helmets as well. I was REALLY hoping for Heart of the Praxic Fire or at the very least the chest engram so I can try for it. Can't even make up for it with some Heavy Ammo Synths. Damn it Xur.

 
How many times did xur sell the symbiote mask? Feels like his been selling that every week or something. This must me the sunbreakers before the dlc! Sheesh! Is glasshouse a good helm? Leaning to just buying 2 ib for my other chars and wait for the helms to go back on sale again. Hehe!

I need another upgraded one, I can shard my old one for that upgrade on the new one. 

I'm thinking of getting the warlock helmet and going ahead and leveling up that 3rd character...

The hard choice is the titan helmet...is extended weapons of light ever better than blinding enemies when they enter the bubble?

I've got 122 motes and 153 strange coins. I'll have have close to 150 or 160 motes and at least 180 coins come this time next week.

 
Seeing that the hard mode Crota comes out next week Wednesday. Anyone want to make a group to do it on PS4? I've been looking for a reliable raid group (i.e. same people to run raids with) but can't find any.

What time do you think it would be if we made another group...there is one that runs with 7 and ArJay and Mars but they are usually on before me so I havent run with them since VOG days...

Im in central time zone and dont start playing during the week usually until 9 or 10

 
So I splurged a bit on stuff.

Bought:

-Glasshouse (just because it looks cool)

-Achlyophage Symbiote (even though i don't have a hunter yet, I know I'd want a 4th golden gun shot)

-2 Ice breakers (one replaces the 1.0 model I never upgraded and the other gives my 3rd toon an IB of his very own).

Passed on Obsidian Mind since my helm has better stats.

Guessing they've put the engram on 3 week cycles (at least that's what has happened with heavy ammo).

Of course now I'm low on Strange coins... so really gotta knock out the weekly's this go-round.

Can u give spare me the checkpoint later. Il try and be online arind 9pst but if not its ok. Still unlucky with templar drops. Keeps on giving me shotguns. Lol.

M still undecided if i shouls buy 2 ib for my alternates and pass on osidian mind since somr mentioned it has terrible stats. But this is the 1st time ive seen it being sold.

I bought Glasshouse just because it looks cool, and, well, I had like 100 coins ;).

But it is tough to beat the Saint-14 helm for Crota at least. Maybe for other stuff the extended duration effect might be better. That confuse bubble (as I call it) is great to use on the first two parts of the Crota raid though. If you get to the end of the lamps and are hanging out while the bridge forms, popping that bubble right on the circle can get you through to the end. Then you can also use it when you cross the second bridge to help your teammates come across with the sword. We usually send someone over with the bubble perk early and have them help the rest cross. Of course this is doing it the intended one-at-a-time method. I guess you can still cheese it in some way.

The bubble can also be helpful at Ir Yut to blind a few of the knights near the entrances when you go in to take her out.

Sure. It's Hard mode, if that matters.

And as nice as Obsidian Mind may be, I'd go for Ice Breaker first.

I know you can swap weapons around as needed, but you'll wish you did have an IB for each toon.

Thinking about it, I now have triplets of several guns: VoC, HoC, IB, CM, DB, LDR, Truth

And I'm working on getting a 3rd Thorn and Pocket Infinity.

Wouldn't mind having a 3rd Vex, AE or triplets of Black Hammer, Fatebringer and Gjallarhorn for that matter.

But VoC, HoC and IB combo can easily get me thru 90% of Destiny content. The rest is more about specializing weapons to scenarios.

 
The first gun I ever made a triplet of was Fatebringer. Afterwards I did Vision of Confluence. I had 3 Icebreakers before the DLC but decided I wouldn't get upgraded duplicates on that since they would all need to be upgraded again for the next DLC. But now that I have a lot of extra exotic shards, I figured that isn't such a big deal any more so I did buy a new IB (and I still have 2 old ones in addition to one I did upgrade already).

The only weapons I have to swap around now are Black Hammer, Icebreaker, and Gjallahorn (and occasionally Vex if I'm doing that fusion rifle kill bounty). Once I collect more Crota materials, I will definitely max out 3 Black Hammers (I think I already have 3 - definitely 2). And I may just go for 3 IB now as well. So that would just leave G-horn as my one weapon to swap. Now I just need to get me a single Hunger of Crota...

I'll probably triple up on Atheon's Epilogue as well. I might as well given I have pretty much unlimited ascendant energy (pretty much all I've gotten from the Nightfall the last 2 weeks). The biggest hassle with upgrading weapons at this point is really just the glimmer part. I keep buying upgrade material (relic iron, etc) with my marks since I keep hitting the cap anyway and have nothing else to use them on. Heh - I remember when I used to be thrilled to spend those marks on a piece of Vanguard armor to break down for 3 precious shards. Now I have over 100 of those just on one character...
 
Has everyone already finished their Crota runs for the week? I'd like to at least get one character to 32 before next week. All I need are some boots for my Warlock.

Thanks. Yup! I assumed it was hard. im just running it to get a chance at fatebringer. Hehe!

I have ib already but yeah just having an extra for my alts is something ive been looking forward too. A think i have triplets now of voc, ae and vex but zero fatebringers.

I think ive only did full vog runs once or twice. Everything else ive either done oracle-atheon or simply atheon runs. Maybe coz ive been playing w randoms most of the time and want to get rewards for the week as soon as possible. If i had a raid group like most of the est folks here that are familiar with each other playstyle, i would have preferred doing full runs.

Honestly, the easiest way that results in the least amount of deaths is as follows:

1) Lure out Wizards. Divide people between the towers as the party sees fit (We do 5
and 1
or 4
and 2
)

2) Right tower has some people sniping the two boomer knights, everybody else focus on wizards.

3) Once wizards are down, one person from the left side runs in and takes out the shrieker, then everybody on left side runs to right.

- I'm usually the one who runs in on the left and I throw a solar grenade at the entrance to prevent enemies from entering and 1 Gjallarhorn kills it. If I have no heavy ammo, then second grenade + up to 6 Black Hammer shots.

4) The right side should have few enemies, work your way in and kill the shrieker as early as you want to.

5) Kill the knights up to the center point and be careful of the occasional thrall spawn and single cursed thrall spawn.

6) Focus on Ir Yut and take her down. If she starts her liturgy, you can pretty much run in there and focus fire her without worry.

Sides I'm using are determined by when you first drop down after the second chest. If you're looking from the two towers next to where Crota spawns, the sides are reversed.

That's the way I do it every week with my usual group and it's just far less chaotic. I've also done it with 3 level 31/32's and a level 29 while helping out other friends. It'll probably be the way to do it in hard mode just because getting hit will likely hurt quite a bit, particularly from boomer knights and because you can't revive in hard mode.

We lure the wizards out and then have people that take out the Shriekers. Then we usually wait a while for the liturgy and then rush in and kill her. We haven't wiped from that in a while, though it does get chaotic. In hard mode we may have to concentrate on taking out more of the adds first - though we will probably have less time to do so (and more of them)...

The confuse bubble allows you to go in (we usually go from the left as you face the chamber from the back where Crota spawns - so same one you are talking about I think) unmolested. Then it is just a mess inside the actual chamber because there are usually 4 or 5 knights in there. Whoever can make it up on top of the doors usually ends up clearing it. Now I just run in and jump and fire my G-horn at whatever I can see since I can't usually find Ir Yut before getting killed. If I just fire first, then make my way to the top of the doors I can survive (just learned this on my last few runs).

I got about half way to level five on iron banner today so I should be ok for getting the pistol and shader by the end of monday :)

I was in there about 5 hours and the best thing I got was a red and blue ship...7 you are a lucky mofo lately  :bow:

I did finish the void kills on my thorn bounty and the crucible kills on my bad juju (its nicer than I remembered). 

I'll go back and look and see who needed the last part of that and keep an eye out for you this weekend.

Does anyone know what time the bounties reset for IB there isnt a timer on it like the other stuff.

One thing that sucks is I'm going to need to farm some glimmer for the items I want from IB because I spent about 10k on blue fusion rifles for that exotic bounty...trying to free up my bounty space again. I was at like 22k before that :p

I'm all over the place with Crota runs. One toon needs to do it all, another just needs the second bridge and my 3rd needs the bridge and Deathsinger
