Yeah not buying Red Death when Xur sold it way back when has become my biggest regret in Destiny. If I remember right he sold Suros the week before and since I didn't have a ton of coins back then I decided to pass on Red Death in case he came along with a couple of things I could get more use out of the next week. I also just didn't like pulse rifles at all and I figured I would never use Red Death since the main draw seemed to be the health regen and I thought Suros was good enough. I figured I would just buy it the next time Xur had it or get it as a drop eventually. Even though I don't remember Xur showing up with anything I really wanted the next week I really wasn't too upset that I passed on it. Suros was my go to pvp weapon and the consensus seemed to be that Red Death and pulse rifles in general were pretty weak. Of course now that they buffed pulse rifles Red Death has become a monster and I wish I had it. It's a little bit sad to look at my vault with 250+ coins in in and think that at one point I passed on the exotic that I currently want the most because I thought I might need the coins. I can only imagine what the people who passed on Gjallarhorn and can't get it to drop feel like. I probably would have been one of them, but I was lucky enough to have it drop from crucible as my first ever exotic the week after release, so I never got the chance.

As for normal Crota drops, it seems like a lot of people have one weapon that just won't drop for them. I have a number of friends who can't get either Black Hammer or Hunger to drop and I still don't have Light of the Abyss. To be fair I really don't run normal anymore, but I had Black Hammer and Hunger of Crota drop all the time when I was running it. I had Song of Ir Yut and Sword Breaker drop multiple times as well. The raid fusion rifles just don't want to drop for me for whatever reason. Praetorian Foil is the only VoG weapon I have never had drop and Light of the Abyss is the only Crota's End weapon I am missing.

 
Praetorian Foil was the only VoG weapon I never got too. But you're right about that one weapon people can't seem to get, even from Crota. We have someone in our group that can't get Song of Ir Yut.

I passed on both Suros and Red Death way back when because I didn't want exotic primaries when I had what I thought were much better legendary primaries with elemental damage (Atheon's Epilogue and Vision of Confluence). At that time I wasn't trying to get every exotic. But then once I passed like 400 hours of gametime, I decided I'd start collecting everything and of course those two have not been sold since. I did, however, buy No Land Beyond when it was first sold (and I've gotten 3 or 4 since then).

1 truth from nightfall, but that purple gauntlet that dropped during our 2nd nightfall turned into a No Back Up plan for my level 2 titan

Ran a friend thru the Nightfall, and had Frosty join right at the end. Frost is one lucky mother fuck er, he got:

Gjallarhorn from the NF

MIDA Multi-tool + SUROS Regime from the VoG exotic chest (two different characters)

Also saw another person get Red Death from the chest just now.

I think that confirms Gjallarhorn is in the loot table this week. Had Hunger drop right before Gjallarhorn did, so that....was unexpected. Been wanting a new RL for a while and then WHAM BAM.

So far I've run Nightfall & Weekly x3 (Technically x9 & x3 respectively), Deathsinger x3 and Crota NM & HM x3 a piece. (So only need Gorgon chest x3) and my exotic haul so far is Monte Carlo, Mask Of The Third Man, Hawkmoon & No Land Beyond. Still no freaking Crux.

 
I seen Truth, Midi Multi Tool, Ice Breaker, Thunderlord, Suros, drop during deathsinger/crota/gorgon chest. So far 0 exotics for me. Only thing i have left to do is three Atheon runs that i think will be done Wednesday night. I did see someone get No Land Beyond after a clash match. LOL Lucky him.

Got my New Monarchy up to rank 23 tonight and shards and a mote. Still no shader. :(

It's nights like tonight that make me understand some of the elitism on some of the LFG sites. I got home and hopped on my hunter and started soloing the beginning. I got to the end of the abyss and hopped up on a pillar and decided I would be nice and invite people in for a full run and let them get the free loot. I made a post on reddit and got a team together pretty quickly. We cleared up to Crota fairly quickly, but once we got to Crota my group started to fall apart. The ledge team failed to drop Crota a second time regularly while I was waiting invisible by Crota, people died running out of the crystal room multiple times, when we finally made it to the ogre room 3 people died running up the stairs. After a little while 3 people dropped out and we joined another team that was looking for 3 more. With this team everyone was doing the heavy trick, but for some reason they still weren't all firing rockets. We also had a titan who was on distraction duty with the bubble who swore that it was impossible to move out of the bubble to fire rockets at Crota without dieing or losing aggro. I showed him where to drop the bubble and told him to just move out, quickly fire the rocket and move back in and let the shield from blessing of light take any shots that came at him, but he wasn't getting it. He just refused to leave the bubble and kept on saying we should send someone to shoot at the wall behind the tower instead. I have been running the sword just for fun the past few weeks and they were generally nice guys, so I stayed a lot longer than I normally would have trying to help one guy get his first hard completion. Eventually someone took off without saying anything and I just decided to bow out, so I could get some sleep. Helping less experienced groups get kills can be really rewarding, but doing your job as the sword guy consistently while watching other people continually make the same mistakes can also be very frustrating.

But if the other guys are doing their job, the Titan shouldn't need to move out of the bubble. I've been in groups that have done both the bubble thing and the wall shooting thing. In both of those cases the person doing that duty is not firing rockets. The other 4 should be more than enough to shoot Crota. Doesn't it just take 3 rockets per downing on hard mode? (Assuming they are 32's - in my core group we used to send the 31 to shoot the wall both to give him something useful to do and also to keep him alive). We had one guy from an LFG group move out of the bubble (not sure if he was shooting rockets or just screwing around). As soon as he did so, the boomers killed our sword bearer. I'm sure there's a way to do it properly - but I'd just assume they stay safe and not screw up the distraction, get killed by the boomers, or rocket themselves on the side of their bubble. Just stand there and dance ;).

But really, all of the burden is on the sword bearer. The rest of us have it easy. But yeah, people skimping on rockets or simply not knowing the deal can really screw it up. The heavy ammo glitch people also really bother me now that Xur has sold heavy ammo twice recently. You really shouldn't have to do that now.

I agree its safer to stay in the bubble...and have a dance party. (Having said that I have jumped out in clutch situations just to add an extra insurance rocket in case a bozo is down from a thrawl during enrage or something)

I did nightfall on my newest guy and got...a fwc fusion rifle with shitty perks. The same one I just got right before I switched characters from a fwc package on my titan. 

I cashed in my purple engrams on my new guy as well...2 shards, 2 shards, 2 shards...this game is being a dick to me this week.

I did rank enough and get enough marks from nightfall and weekly to get a purple set of gloves and get up to level 30...so I can level to 31 now with xp and finding enough armor to break down. 25 essence per upgrade is a pain in the butt.

Anyone still doing VoG Runs?   I took a long Hiatus from Destiny and getting back into it and have yet to do the Raid.  I'm a LVL 27 Hunter.  Would love to join in a group.

 
People do it for the exotic chancex2 and because its more fun (also people are still trying to get fatebringer cause its a boss gun)...you really need to get up to minimum level 28...preferably higher if you want to play hard (for fatebringer and vex) and its easy as buying vanguard gear now. I seem to get invited to atheon a lot randomly but you should hit up lfg for a pick up team.

I still do VoG but it takes longer than usual for 1 run for me because I have back luck on lfg so I actually set time aside to do it.

Hey, I earned that Gally... I got 1 kill and fired 3 rockets on the Archon Priest before your friend got the kill shot ;) .

But yeah, that was absurd.

Basically, got my 1st Gally from NF, using my main titan (some 50 hours into Destiny)... Got my 2nd Gally from NF, using my main titan (about 650 hours into Destiny)...

Also happened to pull a Truth from my 2nd NF. So, 4 exotics in a couple of hours (I'm rarely this lucky)

 
I agree with you guys that in a good group the bubble guy really shouldn't have to leave the bubble, but this group had damage issues, so I was trying to get as much firepower as possible on Crota. I was just getting frustrated by him saying it was impossible when I know it can be done and do it myself when I am on bubble distraction duty.

As for the heavy glitch I like it better than using synths since you can spam rockets without fear the entire fight if you do it right. Being able to fire multiple rockets at the swordbearer and each time Crota needs to be downed can make a big difference. Having said that when I do it I always use No Land Beyond, so I am ready to go in just a few seconds after a wipe. The people that want to fire off 400 auto rifle rounds every time annoy me. I also don't get why people don't figure out the auto ammo refilling thresholds on their weapons. Before I had NLB I used a Fatebringer and I knew if I left 30 shots in the gun I wouldn't auto refill and I could easily fire off the shots while I was waiting for the walls to drop. Lots of people seem to fully empty their guns before starting and regen before they get any heavy drops.

I'm thinking Bungie improved it's drop rate to try and prevent GTA Heist defections. ;)

There were hardly any players on Destiny last night.

The GTA hype makes me wanna run out and buy a copy. Anyone know if there are any current upgrade programs? Like buying the PS3 version and getting to upgrade to the PS4 for free... or something?

I recommend everyone doing raids that at Crota, atheon & Ir Yut the full fire team is capable of getting loot, because the chances always split between 6 whether you are eligible or not.

Also GTA is planned to be on sale on the third or last week of april at the PSN store ($35 with PS+ maybe...) so I you are not that desperate and want to do the heists I would recommend waiting.

 
Did someone say Gjallahorn!?! Hmm. Maybe I'll jump back into Destiny this week and see if I can finally snag one. Good grief.

 
I got gta and dragon age at xmas time...destiny has made me its bitch though so I've hardly played dragon age and never even started gta...

 
I'll also add that I saw Dragon's Breath drop THREE times across my 3x CE runs, two of which went to the same guy. On the same run I'm pretty sure.

I still have 3x Templar and 2/3 Atheon Kills for more chances....but I think I'll probably just do those on normal & save the Hardmode exotic chest CP for next week to share again. I still want/need the normal mode VoG ship, so w/e.

I am turbo excited I got Gjallarhorn, and I've already gotten it upgraded 50% of the way cycling between two characters bounties...hopefully with my 3rd I'll be able to get that thing maxed out so I can try a solo-crota run.

NF: Thunderlord (my 4th), Mida Multi tool, 8 energies
CE NM: The Truth from Ir Yut
VoG HM: Fatebringer (my 3rd) at Templar, Patience and Time + Vex Mythoclast Atheon dropped at once.
I've been swapping weps like crazy using the companion app, love that shit. Btw is it possible to view rewards you got using the app?
 
fuck got my like at least 6th truth from deathsinger...nothing of else of note on 2 regular crota runs...oh except the shotgun I forget existed. I guess thats cool cause it seems to drop rarely and I didnt have it.

 
Well I just finished Nightfall 2x, Gorgon Chest x2 and Crota HM 2x and got Mida multitool and Truth. (One of my friends got red death from crota HM and other hawkmoon from NF)

So I'm just missing 2 atheon HM (I don't run it in NM)

I'll report my whole haul after finishing all.

I don't think so did everything I could already and 0 Ghorn. Got my 4th Ice Breaker, 8th Vex, Knuckle Helmet for my hunter and that's about it. No Ghorn to be found yet again. At this rate I'm just giving up on getting the gun, since I just won't get it or so it seems, but I can still do pretty good damage with my Truth (used it yesterday and it was a ton of fun during the weekly) or Hunger (lucky enough to get it somehow).

I got shards (why is this even in the pool :wall: ) from one NF & 12 coins on the last one. Just one more weekly to go so might do that tonight quickly and just switch right away to Infamous or GTA and try again next week.

Did 2 normal Crota kills (looking for Black Hammer) and got mats & 1 helmet :shame: .

My single Deathsinger run was mats too

Did 2 hard Atheon kills and got mats, Timepiece and 1 exotic shard(vex).  That makes 5 exotics since reset

Managed to pull double Hezens from GK though (woulda been nice to have those last year).

Still have 2 Deathsinger, 2 hard Crota kills and 1 Atheon hard kill to get, so let's see what happens.

Also have one Weekly left, but all I expect there are the coins.

So this is apparently Exotic Drop week, maybe it's the luck o' the Irish since St. Patty's is Saturday?

I got two Legendary Engrams, one from the Weekly and one from Crucible. Turned into Universal Remote, and No Backup Plans.

Did a normal VoG Run, and got ANOTHER Universal Remote less than an hour later! Same VoG Run my group saw Monte Carlo, SUROS Regime, & Patience & Time.

Damn if feels good to be a Guardian.

 
VoG chest pulled Ice Breaker 4th one so sharded, someone got Suros Regime. Full run Atheon is nothing but disappointment sparrow, helmet and shards.
Still have 2 full Crota NM runs, 1 gorgon chest doubt will get anything good.
 
If anyone playing on PS3 wants/needs someone to run sword, hit me up. I've gotten all my normal clears in for the week, but I've been having fun perfecting my technique. This applies to groups wanting to do full runs (cheese or no cheese, your call), or just Crota or w/e.

I'll be running normal CE tonight probably around 2-3 AM West Coast time for a friend in Japan (who doesnt have to deal with daylight savings bs), so feel free to send me a msg thru PSN. It's likely we'll just 2-man a good portion of it, so free loot for you :)

I just picked this up on PS4 and could use some friends to play with. I just started this week so I'm only level 21. PSN tag is Sinfulfate. 

 
I might take one of each...I've had most already but sharded it to upgrade other stuff or it was the old version. Red death for every toon and suros to the vault for me :)

 
I ventured into the sunless abyss. The ground felt even wetter and slimier than I last remembered. It had been a path I walked far too many times to count. Crota stood there waiting like before...did he recognize me from before? With sword in hand, I leaped far into the air behind a volley of rockets. The sword slammed into a kneeling crota and before he burst into pieces, he looked at me and a low grumble soon became a loud screech emitted from his body.

Crota burst into brilliant pieces of light and I heard the shrills of the rookie crew members. In my heart I knew what had just happen, I was once like them, filled with awe and wonderment...but times have changed. I stared at the 2 radiant balls slowly form in my hand. The rest of the fire team crowded around complementing each others new loot. My eyes focused on the black hammer being equipped by a sea rookie on his first outing into the abyss...

Another week had passed and I grow weary of this endless voyage...I had returned to the tower as I had left, empty handed. Perhaps I shall get the infamous beast on my next dive into the hell mouth. I hear an H-shaped structure is being constructed near the moon. They say it will be finished on the 24th of this month...maybe I will pay them a visit.

Loot this week: No Land Beyond (Sharded) and Patience and Time

Hit rank 25 today with new monarchy and no shader or ship yet. Also have another character at rank 10 with no shader or ship from new monarchy. Why do i even try? Im getting burnt out. Right now i never want to go back in crucible again. When its not as laggy its fun though, but when its really laggy its just a chore to finish bounties. I really cant believe how bad the lag is in this game.

 
I got the Bittersteel shader from Dead Orbit at tank 13 I believe. So far that's the only good thing I've gotten from any of the factions. I have 2 characters doing Dead Orbit and one doing FWC and they are all in the 10-15 range.
 
Yeah i got bittersteel around rank 8, up to 30 with dead orbit and nothing else to show for it. FWC i got shaders around 18 and 20, but they were the same shader. New Monarchy, as ive said before, up to rank 25 and 10 with two characters and nothing. Just frustrating all the time and effort i put into doing these bounties to rank the factions up and getting garbage for all of it.

 
So after getting the Ballerhorn, I decided to run a friend through CE and we managed to clear up TO the big "C" with no issue. Unfortunately, my friend needs some practice as sword carrier, so it ended up with me basically trying to solo it...

It was a mixed bag. We repeatedly got him to about 30% HP, but nearly EVERY TIME I went to down him Crota would back ALL THE WAY up to the rear of his platform, so I couldnt shoot him from the rocks, and it limited us to only one kneel/sword (which won't work).

Tried to do full run CE HM but got into newbie group w no xp on Hard at all, one guy was 32 no mic, no sound, he didn't hear shit or so idk, then joined another group from Ir Yut: got Hawkmoon, then continue to Crota, idk we could easily down him w 2 swords but somehow the host just want to play safe, got helmet and shards no wep :(
Gonna try get into CE HM group w both 31 Hunter and Warlock tomorrow, hope I can do full run. Actually full run CE is more fun than full VoG, I guess due to that long ass defend confluxes and oracles.

I certainly appreciate the brisker pace in CE, the Conflux/Oracles section really feels like unnecessary padding. Maybe 2 phases of Confluxes, with some Oracles strewn about every so often would have been more fun/less tedious I think.

I still think VoG is a lot more well thought out than CE, and generally more interesting (blocking the teleport @ templar, the utility of the Relic, "exploration"/puzzles, etc).

 
Got on lfg for a group at hard Crota checkpoint to finish my game from yesterday. Finished Hard Crota, then we switched out for a full run. Then with some of the the same group did a VOG up to gatekeeper but the dudes I was playing with started goofing off on the jumping area exploring and shit. I think they were in highschool and were excited to be on spring break. It was getting super late and I was like guys lets get going and they just kept being all "dude look where I am!" So I bailed.

Got jack shit again. No exotics. 2 more fangs from crota no cruxes dropped. Played from like 10pm to 3am for pretty much nothing womp womp.

Yeah I can't believe you haven't been burned. I do just what's needed during the week and then back out; otherwise I would go insane :wall:

 
I was super excited to find out Xur's stock got changed and that he had Red Death for sale. However, now that I have it I really don't have many reasons to play anymore. I would like to finish my exotic collection, but I don't really care enough about doing so to want to continue to run everything every week praying for a Monte Carlo or 4th Horseman. The amount of time I spend in Destiny has been in a steady decline for a while now. With Red Death added to my collection that is only going to continue. It was the last exotic I really wanted.
