Device to connect composite to monitor without inputs.

Okay to elaborate. I have a monitor that is 24" 1080p. It has 2 HDMI ports as well as component inputs. I would like to find a device (does it even exist?) that can allow for my last gen systems to connect to the monitor (PS2, GCN, and possibly N64 since it's still around).

I can always get component cables but I'd rather not go about this way.

Doing a quick "composite to hdmi" search on amazon, there are a couple that are possibly what you're looking for. Pricey, in my opinion, but still possibilities.

A composite-to-HDMI box will be your best bet, but the picture quality is going to suffer noticeably.

If your monitor doesn't support composite your pretty much screwed.

Go to walmart and buy a dvd recorder. A few models have hdmi output and composite and they do a pretty good job on conversion quality.

A Samsung T240HD? It sounds like the monitor I was looking at before I realized it was too big. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you. Not properly supporting my older consoles is a big reason I haven't bothered with HDTV.

Um... shop around more, because that's no excuse. My HDTV has 3 HDMIs, 2 components, and 1 composite. They exist.

This doesn't help with the gamecube or n64, but you can get component cables for the PS2 for pretty cheap. Just check monoprice.com

Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't GameCube and N64 have composite AND S-Video?

Why not get a component switcher? Most of them will support composite and component inputs for devices and then output them to the component input on the monitor.

A switch isn't enough...it needs to actually convert the picture signal.

oh shit those composite-to-hdmi devices are expensive ...

how would a dvd recorder help? is it similar to how a vcr could connect a console to a tv without inputs?

how'd someone know what my monitor is?

I know I can find some decent component cables cheap (at monoprice), hell even one to works with all the current gen consoles and PS2.

I don't think I have ever used S-video.

A switcher also seems a bit too expensive (not as much as the composite-to-hdmi).


any other suggestions?
