If you add me please tell me so I can add you....it gets me so confused......stupid friend codes..
Just got diamond version today. This is kind of weird because I'm still used to the red and blue days. All this talk about eggs, trading online and other things has be kind of confused. How exactly can I get a pokemon to lay eggs or whatever (sorry if this has been asked before)? Where is the online trading center (is this the underground tunnel in the game where there's treasure and other things?)
eggs - need male and female to breed in the day care center (before the 3rd gym i believe). look up a breeding/egg guide in gamefaqs for more detail.

online trading center - no idea, still on 1st gym.
Anybody given capture the flag a try yet? And if not; any random 16 people wanna hop on and give it a whirl after getting the Explorer Kit?
That sounds fun, how does it work?

Edit: I think Yertle is right.
hm, why not just keep running around town till it hatches? or just put it in the pc for now? no need to carry it unless you wanna see what's inside. i dunno what it is, so i don't know how many steps, but should be less than 10k.
Because I'm impatient and really want to know what's in the egg. It's been over 6k steps so far which leaves me not so thrilled. The step counter is nice though. I just beat Gym 3

I think the underground might be local wifi only, but don't quote me on that
I would start out with the fir pokemon, good plant pokemon are easy to find in the begining, like (its name escapes me at the moment) but hes my second best pokemon.
i think you mean budew, he solo'd the first gym for me :) and currently my best pokemon, current team is chimchar, budew, geodude, starly, magikarp and shinx
That sounds fun, how does it work?

Yea; that seems to be the case cause I haven't run into anyone logged in yet. Bah; damnit nintendo...that woulda friggen rocked. And they need a beeper poketech...so say I can 'beep' you (ie Suko) and tell them to get on wfc... meh.

yeah, i hated waiting for the eggs to hatch back in r/s/e. damn those 10k ones. step counter will be amazing when i get down to using it. just wondering, what're people using the calculator for?
just wondering, what're people using the calculator for?
"Oh no teacher I'm not playing Pokemon, I'm using the calculator my DS has built into it. Isn't it wonderful?"

I could see people using the calculator for an EV calculator. Would be a lot less tedious to keep track of them in chunks of 10-20 than each individual kill.

A note for using Sweet Honey on trees.

The type of pokemon you get is determined once the tree is shaking, but its stats/gender aren't. So if you get something male and you want a female, reset til you get a female. Same can be said with getting a nature you want.

i expected it to be like eggs, where once its there its set in stone, but it isn't apparantly.
so far,7 hours and and just got to the town after you get the bike....most of my pokemon are level 30....
Wow, I'm at 13 hours, beaten the third gym but all fivepokemon are only around level 26

I think the Japanese are digging the novelty of getting English-named pokemon right now. Would probably explain them trading starters for absolute crap

Ok. So has anyone else tried out the "gotcha" technique. before the pokeballs close, say "Gotcha" into the mic, doesn't have to be directly into it. I just caught a lvl 19 Geodude, full health, one pokeball thrown.

EDIT: Just got a lvl 19 Ponyta, full health, 2 pokeballs.
I'm so damn indecisive. I want so many types on my team, but only have 6 slots! *sobcry*
In the beginning I try to go for the well-rounded team of:

- Water
- Fire
- Grass
- Flying
- Fighting
- Psychic

After awhile I start to mix and match the more pkmn I get and whatever the situation calls for.

Oh and if anyone wants to add me here is my friend code: 4510 6950 4127

That's a nice lineup. For now I've got Electric and Rock instead of Fighting and Psychic, but once I get Abra and a fighter (Machop?) I dunno who I'll replace- probably grass out for Abra.

If Graveler still needs to be traded to evolve to Golem, I'll need some help for that eventually.

The trading setup confused me first- I thought you had to activate Voice Chat. Although I must say, for me that was very clear. Surprisingly so.

I just tried it...to the odd looks of my professors and the president of my school...and it worked. Got a Mediate and Chingling without even touching them...

Thanks for the heads up.

Do you want to trade now? I also got a Graveler that needs trading.

I don't have the Graveler yet ;)

But if you want I'd gladly help you out to get the Golem.

Could you post your FC again? I haven't added you, I'm afraid.

Caught a female Combee from using sweet honey on a tree, and looking at the abilities Vespiqueen can eventually learn from the move tutor, looks to be a very solid flying/bug pokemon.

Decent stats, big assortment of bug moves with some rock and posion for good measure. Only downside is aside from Gust, there really aren't any flying moves available. I'm going to keep it in mind for eventual breeding flying moves onto it though.

Damn lot of weaknesses now that I look at it more closely though.

It's 0129-8264-3777. Want me to catch you one :)? Also, could you post your FC? I don't have it either.

Nah, that's alright- I've got a Geodude I'll be leveling up. I'm adding your FC now and going down to the wifi center, so if you wanna head there and wait I'll be right there to get you your Golem.

My FC is in my sig.

I'm in and inviting trade, so just come on in once you register me! :)

After this I'm going to try this "gotcha" technique on catching an Abra, then level up Abra and Geodude... then try the first Gym, I suppose.

Alright, expect me in 5 minutes.

I caught an Abra last night using that technique, I didn't think it would actually work, but it did, don't know if it was just luck or what.

Just tried the "gotcha" technique on a lv14 ponyta and caught it on the first thrown pokeball. Now I'm going to try and find an abra and see if works on it.

This I gotta try.

I really think the gotcha stuff is all just luck/coincedence. There were rumors about stuff like this in every single pokemon game to date. Putting in something like this seems like it would completely negate a major major game mechanic.

maybe someone should post it as a suggestion for mythbusters!
anyone up to try some online battling?
Just got the Ds Headset and im dying to try it out!
Around what level are your Pokemon?

Also, did anyone ever do the Down+B trick in Red/Blue? My friends and I swore it catches Pokemon similar to this "Gotcha" trick. Didn't always work though, so I always though that was just something in our little heads.

Thanks for the trade Six!

Got 2 around lvl 20
the others are around lvl 15

Ok I have a question. Those HM thing's like Rock Cut or whatever it's called. Who do I want to give that to? I remember in Yellow screwing up a couple of my Pokeman. Please help me with this since it might ruin the game for me :(

Also I know I can cancel the evolve process. Is it a bad idea to not let your pokemon evolve?

HMs are usually required to progress, and cannot be forgotten by a Pokemon, so give it to a team member that you plan on keeping around but that has an extra move slot.

I'm ditching my grass starter as soon as I get an Abra... keeping fire and water though. I never liked Grass pokemon anyway.

Edit: Nevermind, this is good.

There have been some people asking about keeping friend codes easy to find, so all the friend codes in this thread will be added to the OP for quick access.

Well, three wasted pokeballs say that the Gotcha technique doesn't work.

I want that fucking Abra.

Anyone have a Machop or Abra to spare?

If you have a spare Abra or Machop, I'd like to trade for it... I doubt I have anything you're interested in though.

If you have a chimchar catching abra is insanely easy. Taunt it and it cant use teleport and will struggle causing itself damage. Just keep it taunted and catch when its low.
