The GTS is officially the best thing ever. On a lark I put a psyduck up requesting a Piplup, and lo and behold, a few hours later I go to the GTS again and there's a Piplup waiting for me. Online rocks
Quin, when you get a chance, can you start adding the friend codes and the users they belong to to the OP?

I'm gonna go through and add some of you- I'll send PMs as I add.
OK. I am just a little busy trying to do school stuff while playing Pokemon, so adding that stuff will definitely get done, but may be a little delayed.

lol, man I hope I love this game, I'm not a pokemon player.. but the online sounds cool and I like games like this.. just never played a pokemon game.

Well I won :), but that's only because my starter Pokemon is much higher level than his team (meaning I've played longer). If it wasn't for that, then it'd be much more balanced. I used my starter last though to make sure it would be fun.

Yea; that battle rocked, I enjoyed it. The voice system is pretty solid and sounds pretty clear.

I agree, it was very fun and cool talking in person. Also, I just got a pokemon that evolved to Empoleon! Lastly, just caught a Ghastly
blah i forgot how much grinding was a part of pokemon..
After 6.5 solid hours today, along with separate studying I can say that I am tired! :whistle2:|

I am guessing that stands for Global Trading System...I've only thumbed through the manual didnt see anything on that...is that through Nintendo WFC or is that just in game?

i love how this game finally deals with the whole question of "what happens to the other pokemon that wasn't picked in the beginning?".

coz honestly, after 3 series of going back to the lab and just seeing that last pokemon sitting there, i always wondered, "what if?".

yep, but now the last pokemon gets a chance to strut his (usually, not often a her) stuff. pokemon's turning more equal-opportunity. anyone notice the 'united colors of nintendo' (the racially aware mission guides of the pokemon learning league) on the back of the battle revolution poster that came alongside the manual? loving it...

I have been reading about how the female starter is hard to get. I did not even realize I had a female starter for a while. It seems all the Pokemon I am catching are female.

Loving it so far, an hour in. It was funny, I was playing Gears of Wars with some friends that I've known since middle school when the topic of Pokemon came up:
"So...did anybody else pre-order the new Pokemon?"
"no freak...yeah I did"
"yeah"
"same here"

I :lol:ed

I know this has been asked a million times already but what's the difference between the two versions other than the legendary monster you get? I'm personally someone who plays red versions due to them usually being more focused on offensives than defensives, so suggestions would be great.

I concur. I threw up a Shinx asking for a Piplup. Came back 20 minutes later and someone from Japan traded one to me. It's name was in Japanese until he evolved, but that wasn't a big deal.

Eggs take a different amount of time to hatch depending on whats in the egg.

Voip I didn't think was so great, the BG music is louder than the voice so it can be hard to hear.
Edit: Or it could just be my friend wasn't talking as loudly as he could've.

Anyone here start out with the grass pokemon? I plan to use my squirtle from leaf green later on and didn't want two water pokemon.

So I had to choose between the fire/grass pokemon.

I have diamond by the way, when I'm able to get online next I'll post my FC on here.

I started with grass. general wild pokemon encounters have taken longer because of the like elements, but the first gym boss was a cake walk.

One good thing about having similar types is its easier to wittle down the enemies hp when you attack them with stuff theyre strong against. Much harder to do the ol' "bad timing for a crit accidental kill."

Do you think I made a good choice by going with the grass pokemon, or should I go with one of the others?

i'm personally gonna go with the grass. i'm all about the defensive approach (a la venusaur). i usually find my offense in later-game catches, but that's just my style.

honestly, just like your choice. better to have it your way than to conform to popular opinion, eh?

I went with the grass since I like turtles and this is probably the first time I've found the water and grass starters equally compelling. This is the first game I ever chose a starter other than the water one for my first playthrough. My emerald game with the Torchic doesn't count since it was basically my second playthrough of Sapphire

GTS sounds very cool, with people trading starters. I have 'em all, though, so I can't think of a use for GTS right now.

May I ask where you all got Abras? They teleport right away in the wild, and Machop is a ways away.

I was lucky enough to find one in the wild and use Bite to make it flinch when it had low enough health to catch.

It's now a Kadabra that I need to trade to get an Alakazam.

Nice. Give me maybe five minutes and I'll gladly help. Is it like the old games, where it just needs to be traded and it evolves?

I'll let you know when I can do it. I'll post here.

Much appreciated. I'll be in the next town soon.

Holy fucking shit, my Turtwig that I traded for is ignoring orders like crazy. Is it always like that with traded Pokemon or will it subside?

Yea Traded Pokeman ignore orders until you start getting Badges.

On another note. I scored a Turtwig for a GeoDude. I'm Happy :)

Oh, so it goes away? Thank god.

I think I'll throw a Bidoof or something on GTS and see if anyone wants to be nice and trade me an Abra.

I am doing the same. Good Luck :)

I got lucky and caught a machop which I quickly traded for an abra with that lady in that city......

Right now im trying to get a turtwig for my level 11 psyduck....
Then ill try for a chimchar with a shinx

I have a question though.....do I need to leave my character in the place or can I log off the connection and do something else and come back and check on it later?
I am doing the same. Good Luck :)
Heh, you too!

I think I might ditch turtwig. I've got Chimchar, Shinx, Piplup, Geodude, and I'll be using Abra once I get one. That leaves 1 slot left... and while Turtwig is nice I really need a flying type for the Fly HM. Although I suppose I could just use a flying type that;s in ym PC for that.

I would start out with the fir pokemon, good plant pokemon are easy to find in the begining, like (its name escapes me at the moment) but hes my second best pokemon.
