Diamond; Pearl; Platinum 1-A (Friend Codes; Online Discussion; Trades, Battles, etc.)

Contrary to popular belief, Victory Road sucks ass here for EXP.

The real EXP-for-E4 goldmine would be the surfing route that leads into Victory Road. All those Pelippers and Tentacruels give more EXP than whatever inside Victory Road.

And they're at a lower lower somewhat.

Seeing so many people playing this I'm thinking of getting into it, kind of missed the initial hype for it.

Would I be able to enjoy it if I haven't played a Pokemon game since Red/Blue?

I would say yes. I hadn't really played the games since Red/Blue and I've put a ton of time into this. I had bought G/S/C, FR/LG, and R/S in hopes of playing them like I played R/B/Y, but they never caught on. Most of that was probably due to not having anybody to trade with, so it was boring. I really think the addition of the GTS and online battles made me like this series all over again, since I can do the things I couldn't before being the only one I knew that played them.

Diamond and Pearl is pretty much like any other pokemon game boy game but with added features like wi-fi battle and trading. If you like MOTS, then go for it, if not, then I'd say pass. I personally would give two shits about the pokemon story, so you can pretty much disregard any in the pokemon franchise.
Gothic, if you can log on to WiFi now, I can give you a Charmander. Just give me any pokemon in return, don't care what it is. I'd need your FC as well.
Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to take a raincheck on that for now. My internet's been crapping out regularly for the past day or two, and going down for as much as four or five hours at a time. :bomb:

That sucks. No prob on the raincheck. I've got plenty of space in the PC Boxes so I'll just hold one until you get your net straightened out.
if you send it in do they send you a lite? (if you have the older model)
Nintendo told me due to the severity of the crack on mine (that they're fixing for free) they may have to send me a new ds.

But the hinge crack is only on lites. White ones in fact.

Aren't some games like d/p tied to your specific ds? I thought i read that once.
Nope. The only thing that would change is your friend code since it's a combo of the game and DS.
ok, need to read those things mroe carefully

I had been wondering that as well. Glad to see that isn't the case as Suko pointed out.

Finally beat the Elite 4. Abomasnow completely dominated Milotic, it was great! I was expecting
to have to battle Tyson after Cynthia, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Now to try and get some of those EV training items.

Congrats. Is Tyson the name of your rival?

I think the rival this time around was just there to look like an inferior trainer to you. He doesn't seem bright or gifted like Gary was in the original Red and Blue games.
Gary was the only rival to ever beat the elite four.
now that I think about it, that is true. In all the other games, other people (not your rival) beat the elite four before you did. Interesting....
Congrats. Is Tyson the name of your rival?

Yeah, it's my rival's name. I totally agree that they made him look like a buffoon.
Gary was the only rival to ever beat the elite four.
Well, the R/B/Y games are the only ones where I ever 'beat' the game, so that's why I thought it was common.

I did my first round of the battle tower and was shocked that none of the pokemon I encountered were put into my Pokedex. Are you really expected to trade with friends for all of the pokemon from the previous games? That seems to make the GTS rather useless after you complete the Sinnoh dex if that's the case. Why would I want to trade for pokemon that i've already gotten from friends, since the only way you can use the GTS for a pokemon is to have seen it previously. Hopefully I am missing something, as this is a serious bummer.

Yeah... I was very disappointed with that as well. It would have been a very nice way to allow you to GTS all of the older random pokemon. :whistle2:k Either way, there are always online forums for you to exchange friend codes.

True. Guess I was just really looking forward to fully completing the Pokedex, but that seems like an insane amount of work now. Oh well, I think I have most of the pokemon I really like anyway (I'm sure I'm forgetting a few), so I could just focus on those and then get other pokemon little by little.
My favorite rival was the G/S/C one. Total. Badass.

Not to mention he was pimpin' with his long hair, jacket, shorts, and boots.
He was the reformed asshole. Gary was metro'd up in firered and leafgreen. Now that I think about it, I really love the makeovers all the characters got in that game. Gary getting the best one of course.

He's also the only rival to become a gym leader.

Do you guys have any tips for growing a lot of berries fast? I want to start EV Training, but the berries seem to be growing slow for taking off unwanted EVs. Or should I just breed and start from scratch?

There are those mulch items you can use. I think they speed up growth but require you to water more. But yes, you should probably just breed and start from scratch. The guys you played through the game with probably don't have ideal natures anyway.
I have Manaphy, but it's produced via pokesav. I'll be more than happy to produce one for ya though.

However, I don't think anyone would want to play you with uber-pokes, I certainly wouldn't. Ubers own my face.

edit: I believe those stress cracks only applied to the DSLite?
Heh, I'd believe that. It'd be mainly for playing against my roommates, since we've been contemplating making teams with ubers for a while.

Well, if you still are interested, just pm me all the aspects of it you want, i.e. EVs, IVs, etc. (of course within the poke's limits). I'm sure you already beat the game, so I don't need to worry about you breezing through the game with a lvl 100 poke.

Thanks for the details. A week before the event and Pokemon USA's stupid website still won't flat out list out what is required for the download.
http://www.pokebeach.com/news/0508/darkrai-toys-r-us-event-details

Must be a first for us because it's the same one the Japanese got. The Darkrai is given to you straight-out. Nothing about the mysterious letter and sleeping in the abandoned house in Canalave.
Lame, so you don't even get it listed as yourself being the trainer. That makes it practically worthless to me since I only use Pokemon that have my trainer name on it. It does, however, have 2 moves you can only get via this Darkrai, so that's something I suppose.
What day is this going to be on? I may stop by and pick it up, although like Ryukahn I only use Pokemon with my trainer's name.
Saturday and Sunday. The TRU website now has info--here.

And why only use PKMN with your trainer name?
And why only use PKMN with your trainer name?
It is just a preference of mine. I like my team to be under my name. I guess it is also because I raise my lineup all from eggs (except legendaries of course).

I'm up for anything tonight. I'd really like to practice battling and test out my team. Just post in here or pm me and I'd be happy to go on wifi.

Got my Darkrai yesterday. Didn't even have to get out of my car. Parked next to the side of the building nearest the R Zone, and was able to get the Wifi signal.

Got Darkrai yesterday also took 30 seconds top

On the plus side there were two good looking girls
1. DL'ing Darkrai while sitting on the floor
2. Working in the video games section and helling at me for asking dumb questions

Anyone want to battle tonight? I'll even fight against your newly acquired darkrais. I'm really urging to get some actual battle experience.

Anyone willing to trade me a Mewtwo?

just pm me what you want (I don't have much)

Any level will do...need someone to replace Alakazam

Anyone here use shoddy battle? Just found out about it.

@suxor: I'll generate one for you, but again, it's generated. By the way, MewTwo is too much rape.

I've never heard of shoddy battle. I might be up for a battle tonight though since I just got my ds back from nintendo. I can trade as well.

Shoddy battle is like pokemon netbattle. Basically you set up your pokemon team and battle people online. No need for friend codes, just need to log onto a server and challenge whoever is in it. Great program for testing out pokemon teams before you start having to EV train them in the actual game. Of course there's no leveling or anything like that (not even battle animations). Basically, plug in whatever EVs, IVs, and moves you want for the pokemon (as long as they're within limitations) and battle away.

I'm up for a battle tonight if you're on.

What the fuck is the matter with Nintendo Wifi? I had to go to a local library (since I don't have any wireless connections at home I could use) to get to a Wifi hotspot and I kept getting disconnected, even with three bars of signal. I wound up giving up and driving home, frustrated.

Maybe they blocked the usage of WFC? I remember trying to use a public hotspot before and it turned out they blocked a lot of things, including WFC access.

In a library though you can't do that :/

I scoured their tech support and entered the problem number on their website. It said the problem was on Nintendo's end. But if I'm the only one having problems then I guess it is me. I also tried SDSU.

I would think libraries and my school would allow it since any laptop is allowed to connect regardless of what the laptop does.

This sucks. Is everbody here using Nintendo WFC from the comfort of their home? The libraries were hotspots that were identified by Nintendo's website, but weren't guaranteed to work. Is there anywhere else I can go?
