Anybody know if you can get the Frozen terrain/sky discs in the random power packs?
Yes, in 1.0 disc packs, series 2. Make sure it days series 2 on the pack because the others won't have any chance to get those particular 2, and the packaging on the 1.0 discs all pretty much looks the same.

Edit: No, it does not play the "let it go" song.

Yea they are in series 2 iirc, the only 2 pack with discs that aren't available in packs are the Aladdin discs.

Edit- replied before seeing the above post lol

Ordered a handful of 2.0 power discs along with the rest of the 3.0 series that I did't have yet. Since the discs were so cheap I figured why not and of course all the ones I got were super lame and I did not care enough to test which was inside each one.

I do however now own all of the current 3.0 except for Joy and Anger who I hope to snag for cheap around BF!

I'm hoping for Toybox Speedway will go for 15 near black Friday on best buy for I can get some GCU love but I know this might not happen

Ok...today is the last day of the BB sale for 7.99 figures with GCU. I was going to hold off buying any more, until the holidays, but really don't want to wait that long, thinking of going in and grabbing 2 or 3 more later today. Here's who I still need as far as what's been released:

Mickey
Minnie
Both Tron figs
Olaf
Kanan
Ezra
Zeb
Obi-Wan
Han Solo

Since I bought Chewy I feel like I should grab Han, but then I feel the same way about Obi-Wan because of Anakin. Don't really care about the fx thing, just wanting to grab the most fun and badass characters mostly. Any advice about anyone in particular?

Mickey, Minnie and Olaf are all adorable and a lot of fun to use in-game. Ezra, Kanan and Obi Wan are great as well since characters with lightsabers are so much fun to play with.

I have a tough time not recommending getting all of them like I did, but if you're only looking for a few right now, those 6 should be the figures to consider IMO.

The Tron figures are great, and complement each other well (Sam Flynn long range specialist, Quorra close range/melee) and have cool kill animations and (especially with Sam) references from the classic film. Zeb is a hand to hand brute, with the ability to wall crawl, bringing a unique play style to the Star Wars universe.

Thanks for the tips. I'm interested in the SW Rebels characters but I have only seen bits and pieces of the show so far so I feel like I will be more pumped for them if I watch it more.

I've heard more than one person say the Tron figures are fun as well. I still need to see the newer film also, though.

As far as Mickey and Minnie go, I was really dissapointed with Sorcerer Mickey in 1.0 and I think that has made me want to shy away from them. I know that they have far more abilities than he did, though.

Sorcerer Mickey was a 1.0 character. A majority of those are disappointing compared to later editions. Maleficent is 2.0's take on him. 3.0 Mickey is nothing like SM; he is more similar to 2.0's Donald Duck, with his "throwing a lot of crap" mechanic. While this is less appropriate for Mickey, who has a Zen-like control over his emotions, he should still prove fun to play with.

"throwing a lot of crap" mechanic.
Lol. I ended up going with Zeb, Kanan, and Olaf for my daughter. I liked the idea of Zeb having a unique moveset and the ability to use him in the playsets. I foresee myself getting most of the others though, either on the next sale or during black friday deals. The Hulkbuster Iron Man is going to be a must-buy for me.

I went out today to pick up some power discs, and then bought Darth Vader, Yoda, and Obi-Wan. I bought Mickey and Minnie for my kid earlier this week. Those were pretty much my must-haves, and I don't even have 3.0 yet.

My kids love Donald Duck, so I'm sure M&M will be fun for them as well. So I fully recommend those two.

I'd like to ask a favor of those who have played a few of the Star Wars 3.0 characters. My son currently has the "Twilight" playset, but is wanting another figure. Is there any that you guys would recommend based on how they play? For instance, are any of the Star Wars characters stronger than the others? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to provide insight.

I'd also like to add, for anyone wondering about buying into 3.0, that this game is actually fun. I hated playing the first two with my son, but this one is a blast, and the most fun I've had playing a Star Wars game since "Shadows of the Empire" when I was 12. I've actually been tempted to play when he's not around, but I haven't yet.

I'm trying to collect the 2.0 power discs now that they are actually cheaper. I'm still missing about 12 Disney Originals and 17 Marvel. I need to get to trading I suppose. I somehow have 3 Infinity Gauntlets. That one seems kind of rare. I ordered 15 more packs, but I'm probably setting myself up for failure. I think I just about have a second set of series 1 and series 2 discs from 1.0 because I bought so many when they were on sale. I'm not sure if I will be able to get the marvel discs much cheaper though because all of my stores seem to be sold out. The Disney Originals are still pretty easy to find at TRU and BB stores around here at least.

I keep waiting for that Guardians of the Galaxy Power Disc album to drop in price at Gamestop. All of my stores have it in stock still. I need 3 discs that are included in that one too. I could do $12.50 like the "Originals" album I bought at TRU, but $25 is just too much.

I'm with you. I don't have the game yet, but I have Mickey, Minnie, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and the two extra playsets that are out. I just ordered Han and Chewie as well. I'm sort of regretting buying Obi-Wan and Yoda though. I just ordered them to qualify for free shipping a while back. I will probably try to buy all of the Light FX figures and double dip. At least I resisted buying Vader (so far).

Here's a link to the power disc trade thread:

I've traded with several CAGS on there and met some pretty cool people. And I'm finally getting close to finishing my 2.0 sets, I only need maybe 4 or 5 discs from each of the two to be completely finished. Unfortunately for me, my nephew started in on Infinity with 3.0 so now I feel obligated to help him get at least some of the 2.0 and 1.0 discs that he has seen and wants from my collection.

As far as those albums, they may eventually be clearanced, but it will probably take awhile. GS is kinda hit or miss about that stuff, TRU liquidated 1.0 quite a bit last Christmas so I wonder what they will do this time. My local store still has alot of 1.0 crap now, but it's marked down to $7 each for figures and the remaining playsets they have are $15, which I guess is still too high because they aren't selling.

So it looks like Target Cartwheel has a 50% off on 3.0 Speedway and Takeover. If you are able to pull off a price match and cartwheel you could PM Amazon and get Takeover for $7.00 plus tax. Speedway doesn't seem to be cheaper anywhere else, so naturally it would be $10.00.

TRU has 1.0 figures for 7 bucks if you can't find what you need with Best Buy's sale.

Does anyone know if I pick up both Takeover and Speedway, will Cartwheel take 50% off both with one scan on the same purchase? I've never made multiple purchases of a single Cartwheel deal so wondering how that will work out.

ive always received multiple discounts on additional items, but i would keep an eye on the total to be sure. also read the fine print and make sure it doesnt have a limit of 1. (its usually 4)

Was thinking of getting getting the toy box speedway with cartwheel. Can anyone recommend? I know it's probably not as good as MK 8 but is it at least fun and worth a $10 purchase?

It really feels like sonic all star racing as you're ALWAYS drifting or boosting to win races against the cpu. The courses are less interesting than either kart racer. It is at least better than any of the fan created courses, and you need it to unlock certain things in the toy box.

For $10 I'd say sure, but Takeover is the better game. The AI in Speedway is absolutely BRUTAL though - good luck making the top 3 even at 50cc, and if you have younger kids, they're going to be really frustrated with the difficulty.

Thanks guys, I think for $10 I'll pick it up. Need to start Christmas shopping for my boys too
Anyone have success price matching toy box takeover at target and getting the cartwheel discount?

I just did tonight. It was right before closing and I had some other items to mask the discount. I tried to buy a 2.0 starter pack doing the same thing last week and I was turned down three times at three different stores. That policy is no joke now in my area at least. Ymmv.

Do any of you guys think Toy Box Speedway will be any cheaper on Black Friday? I'm tempted to buy it now for $10 even though I don't plan on buying the starter set until Black Friday. When the starter sets were $15 with the pricematch+cartwheel, I jumped on it because I know that's about as good of a deal as we are going to get on the new starter sets for a while. We have no frame of reference for expansion packs from 2.0 or 1.0, but 50% off MSRP seems like a decent deal.

Hey just curious how long has Walmart.com had random 3.0 characters on sale??
Vader 9.99
Chewbacca 9.99
Hulkbuster 11.50
Ultron 11.50

Wish I known earlier, time to use that money from savings catcher

I was able to snag the Collector's Edition of the Marvel set using the Cartwheel discount. After a couple days of fun with it I decided to buy the rest of the Marvel figures from Best Buy.

With that said, I'm not exactly a fan of Disney in general. Are there any Disney-based figures or playsets (from any version) that are considered "essential" because they're so good? Or does it come down to who you like best) I've only ever seen the Toy Story movies, Aladdin, Lion King, and random Mickey, Donald, and Goofy shorts so don't know much about the Disney lore.

I do plan on picking up 3.0 and the Star Wars stuff when prices look the the 2.0 prices now. Hope Muppets make can arrive with 4.0 because I'll get all those too!

Merida, with her riccocheing arrows, is one of the best range fighters, and has formidible melee skills too. Maleficent is good too, with lots of powerful attacks, both at long range and close up. She can also fly and heal herself. Hiro Hamada has some powerful, and extremely cool looking, attacks. He's also got a "run" attack reminiscent of Dash and Hulk. Finally, we have Elsa, whose freezing abilities are still unique to her, and in pre-3.0 versions, she's so powerful, it borders on cheating. She's less overwhelmingly dominant in 3.0, but still highly effective, especially when playing with others (she freezes, the other players finish the now defenseless enemies off). However, she's 1.0, so she's missing features, like special moves and block breakers, that characters from later installments have.

I don't know if you still want to mess around with 1.0 at this point, but if you do, I personally enjoyed some of the playsets in that one more than 2.0.

It's true that the characters themselves are more limited, but I think in some cases the playsets had more creativity and were overall more enjoyable. I know not everyone would agree with me, but I found the 2.0 playsets to be more repetitive beat-em ups in most cases.

That being said, even though the characters themselves are simple and don't lend well to the toybox mode, the Toy Story playset was fun. The clever jetpack usage, the growing/shrinking properties of the special goop stuff and the guns that could shoot it, and the Buzz Lightyear inspired alien planet made it fun for both me and my daughter. The Lone Ranger western-themed playset was fun as well, and felt unique in both appearance and features. Compare that to 2.0, in which you had an overall bigger gameplay space, but both the Avengers and Spider-Man sets essentially looked the same and it was basically a generically rendered NYC. The big difference is the 2.0 characters themselves could do a lot more.

This irked the hell outta me with both being Manhattan. One had Avenger buildings the other Spiderman but all were essentially the same.

Frankly I think Lone Ranger got the most play time in 1.0 followed by Toy Story. And while I mostly agree, the character customization you could do in 2.0 was definitely better.

Thanks to whoever clued me in on the Toybox expansion cartwheel discount. I was able to pricematch Takeover on Amazon and get it for $7! Add that to the time I got Speedway for $12 and I'll gladly take two for the price of one.

I got toy box takeover for $7 at target too with Amazon price match and cartwheel. I want to pick up the speedway set too but this particular store was out.
Anyone see Black Friday ads yet? I picked up both of the first two infinity games during those sales and thinking the same deal will be offered for part three this year.

I love nova for his quick flying abilities, vadar looks amazing and will be my next buy (light fx)
Nova will definitely be someone I pick up soon, then! Didn't realize he was that good.

Hulk's a beast. Level him up completely and enjoy those super jumps and ridiculous power.

If you want to get someone from Disney, Merida is another good ranged attacker and Maleficent is fun to play. I don't have my Baymax leveled up very far yet, but at least he flies and can carry the other guy (can't remember his name) around.
Yeah, I am loving Hulk. Especially using him in the Toybox Takeover expansion. He's just unstoppable.

I'll probably grab Merida next time I see her. Thanks!

Thanks to the cheap discs at TRU I now have a smallish collection, only disappointment is that I am quickly amassing a collection of doubles. I have like 3 Iron Fist alt costumes and I think 4 Ant Man discs now. Super surprised that I've gotten Infinity Gauntlet already but have yet to run into either the Iron Patriot team up disc or the Iron Man/Cap alt costumes.

Walmart today had Darth Maul and Ultron sitting out with the DI figures. There was no tag for them and I am not about to drop $14 on them when I can just wait and get them at BB with GCU anyway. As I was leaving I saw the marketing and stock guy, the one who just walks around with an iPad making sure each store is good, pulled those two figures off and was photographing them and looked pissed!

They looked pretty sweet though Ultron was skinnier seeming than I was hoping. I took a super quick picture since the longer I stay in Walmart the worse I feel haha

I personally liked the Pirates of the Caribbean set from the 1.0 starter pack! Being able to sail around was cool and it had a lot of stuff to search for.

Can you unlock more cars in the speedway or is it just limited to the basic green, red, yellow cars + any power discs you have?

I was hoping to drive around in more disney cars, not just the generic ones + my general grevious wheel speeder.

The winning combination of racer/vehicle has to be Vader and the Electric Mayhem bus. This is based on no experience what so ever, except for the basic laws of the universe.

Uhhhh... not sure HOW... as I've unlocked a butt ton of them. But yea, tons of different cars. 3-4 racers from Wreck It Ralph, couple of SWs ones, and some Disney ones. Also a couple of motorcycles. None of those require discs. Discs add even more.

My personal favorite is the "fatty" vehicles from Wall-E (the floating chair thing). I love riding that around. And the fact that you can turn them all into Monster Trucks. My kids favorite is the Jawa Sand crawler with Big Wheels.

Once you get close to the end you will probably find you need 5 or 6 discs to finish a set but you have 15-20 dupes. That's just the way it usually plays out. I ended up with like 3 Yondu's and 4 Infinity Gauntlets but couldn't get a Ghost Rider whip to save my life. Eventually you'll get doubles of discs that others need and you just start trading doubles to finish up. There's a power disc trade thread in the CAG trading section.
