Theres one member in particular here who copies and posts our links and our deals on another site.. and never gives ANY credit what so ever to the original poster.. he steals off of other sites too..

I know from time to time it happens, but lately people get their credit when its deserved.

I know if I found a deal and it was on another site and I wasnt given credit for it Id be pissed..

just curious if anyone thought the same.. because the same member has been doing it for a month or so and nothing was done about it -_-
 
Some posters here rip off FatWallet and other such sites. It may bother me if one of my links were "stolen," but I can understand why it happens. Now if they're profitting from it at Cheapy's expense...

well they are in some cases, cause Cheapy makes cash when people buy with links from CAG, but when its ripped on SD or FW they make the cash from the links
 
I normally wouldnt care..

But its the same damn guy doing it over and over again. And I even said multiple times to him on other forums about doing it, and he didnt give a shit.

only reason I brought it up.
 
I share info from time to time on DVDtalk and always try and credit the poster and CAG. I can't imagine not giving credit where credit is due.

Well....have you tried tracking him down and beating the shit out of him in front of his family? That always seems to work.

In all seriousness, my vote is to just roll with it. Deals get stolen and spread all around the intertits constantly. The only other options are to ban him or follow the fool around to every board he posts at and call him out.

If anyone has proof that a user leaks deals without giving proper credit, you can let us know. We can send them a pm requesting they give credit where credit is due. Not much more to be done. You can also just post at the other sites with reminders that "this deal was posted by X at CAG."

Personally, I don't see a huge deal. It's nice to get credit, but it's not as if anyone around here is going to think you're a better person because "OMgosh, you're the guy that told us that Amazons Deal of the Day is ____. I love your work! I'm totally your biggest fan!" And if someone did react that way, they've got serious problems.


Now, if you have proof that some guy is leaking our state secrets, we may take more decisive action.

Well one of us is going to have to change.
 
Fact is if they keep their SD/FW/wherever id different from their CAG id we'd never be able to link them back to a CAG account. I guess if this guy has the same ID here at CAG something can be done, but it would be up to Cheapy IMO.

Say some user on FW just makes accounts at other places to leech deals and 100% lurks. You'll never root them out.
