I've had buffalo after a 5th grade fieldtrip to a buffalo ranch to see the lives ones. Looking back, that was a very strange order of events (seeing live buffalo, then eating a buffalo burger).
- escargot (On a cruise)
- alligator (Razoos)
- Deer (probably not that exotic ( not sure if it was hunted or road kill)
- Balut (Not as bad as I thought - For a bet)
- Rabbit
- Eel
Was offered- but did not eat
- Squirrel
- Raccoon
- raw blood pie (chicken blood i believe)
Let's see:
-Bull testicle - my father tricked me into eating it in a cocktail (no pun). Disgusting.
-Snails - quite good. More please.
-Turtle eggs - I feel so bad now knowing that they're endangered. Ever had raw chicken eggs? The same thing.
-Shark soup - good, but stringy.
-Cow tongue - don't remember what it tastes like, but since I now have a very strict "no organ meats" ban, I'm not going to try it again.
I have watched my best friend eat balut a couple of times, but I couldn't get past the smell to taste it myself.
I cook frog, alligator and crawdaddies regularly. ...I think that sums up my cultural background..
I eat anchovy paste on toast just about daily, but I guess it's not that weird.
Balut (partially aborted duck/chicken fetus) is pretty good. Just add salt (although my uncle like to use soy sauce *yuck*). And I dunno what GMOOJ is talkin' about, pig's blood is easy to obtain. Just go to your local asian/filipino market. And dinaguan goes great as a rice side dish or w/ a steamed sweet rice cake called puto.
Now things I've eaten besides the above:
ants (chocolate covered)
caterpillars (chocolate covered)
live cockroaches (on a dare)
cow tongue (lengua, also served as sushi)
dog
horse (served as sushi)
alligator
boar
water buffalo
blowfish (served as sushi known as fugu)
whale (served as sushi)
dolphin (served as sushi)
live octopus (dangerous as it can suffocate you if you don't eat it head first and even then it's still dangerous)
rattlesnake
And I wouldn't say eel's a weird food to eat. It's one of the best types of sushi to eat - unagi or anago.
I went to SERE (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape) school in Okinawa back in 2003. We ate grasshoppers, ants, grubs, a goat, some nasty river fish and a snake. In addition to the meats, we ate all kinds of jungle plants that were edible to varying degrees, the highlight were wild lime trees.

That sounds pretty fun. I love watching those Man Vs Wild and Survivor Man shows on Discovery.
I thought way back and remembered having the best Shepard's pie at my buddy's house when I was a kid. When I finished eating his mom told me that it was moose meat.
I'll be damned if that wouldn't make a good steak. Shepard's pie probably didn't do it justice.
A long time ago, my neighbor brought over a bowl of soup. It was very good, but I bit on something crunchy. It turned out to be a cockroach. I'm gonna go throw up now.

When I was in Louisiana pre-Katrina I tried a blood Sausage...well, to be honest it was more of a boudin with pigs blood in it. They called it a boudin noir. Wasn't as bad as I thought, just tasted like boudin.
I eat balut regularly, only the yellow part though (I use to be able to eat all the parts as a kid but once my parents told me what I was eating, I couldnt stand eating the duck part).
Also durian. The smell is horrible but eating is good.

They do have the two kinds of Baluts. One of them is the kind that Rock is describing. They're a bit more formed than just regular eggs, but not to the point where the fetus is formed. It's a much heartier hard-boiled egg. The other ones are the ones they show on Survivor/Bizzare Foods.
I take it the majority of the people posting in this thread are asian? I worked with Cambodians and they would eat the weirdest in shit ever.
Nope. Portuguese/Spanish/Italian/maybe Flemish. But I've traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Portugal.
