Double Dragon CONFIRMED for May 9th, 400 MS POINTS!!! Updated with the Achievements!

400 points is a heck of a deal though. I'll prolly get it tomorrow night. I don't think I'll make ti through the rest of tonight.

So how are you all liking Elbow Dragon so far :D

The achievements are mostly easy, with a couple of doozies in there i.e. beat the game on one credit and beat first level without getting hit look like the hardest ones. This should be an easy 150 pts. A word of warning though, the baseball bat achievement is harder than it sounds.

There are at least 2 places were I just missed it. Fighting the two Abodos at the end of part 1 stage 3, right at the end the bat jumps out of your hand and screen scrolls forward. Its best that you leave it lying down and stand in a spot where it'll fall somewhere where you can pick it up just afterwards. The second place is the boss fight itself, stay on the left siide or middle as the right side's border is too far in and the bat can easily fly away from reach.

The controls take some getting use to it seems like I always have to click em right for the FU elbow, which I used to take out EVERYONE in stage 1.

My major two complaints right now are

1) Slowdown - I can understand arcade perfect ports, but there shouldn't be any slowdown and there is. It gets annoying when theres multiple people on the screen and it slows down, then when It's 1v1 theres no slowdown. Bleh.

2) Sound - Yeah if your gonna slightly update the graphics you misewell slightly update the sound to.

Otherwise easily worth the 400pts. Will have countless fun via achieving highscores, unlocking achivements and playing with people over Live.

yea 3 people on one screen causes massive slowdown, so annoying

i def prefer the NES version over this one, but its still cool

This looks/feels more like a flash remake than anything. I was going to buy it until I played the demo. Forget it now.

This game is going to take some getting used to after playing so much DDA (it replaced SSFII:TR as my bathroom game a few months ago).

I'm really torn on this one. At first, I was really excited, now I'm much more on the fence.

This was probably my favorite arcade game as a kid. My school had roller skating parties at the rink, and one of the few reasons I'd go was for the double dragon machine. I'd drop a few bucks in it each time. Playing the NES versions, I was always depressed that the game seemed butchered.

But, now, I'm older, I've seen so many advances in games, and I haven't seen DD in many years. I remember it fondly (very fondly). But, I don't want to ruin that (I remembered the first Lakers/Celtics basketball game fondly on Genesis, went back 5 years later, and it was unplayable, it ruined the memory of it).

But, on the other hand, some gaems that supposedly don't hold up well doesn't bother me (I still love the original Tomb Raider).

Plus, I never see my buddy that I played through this game with so many times at the arcade. He's across the country and doesn't have a 360. If he did, this would be an auto purchase, now, not sure.

Probably just reminising, I'll probably download the demo and make it a pretty instant purchase.

As usual, the updated graphics look great but make the game more difficult to play.
It's faster and more responsive on original. And there's no option to keep the new soundtrack with the old graphics. Boooooo.

That said, it plays like Double Dragon. Good stuff.

And good luck on those achievements. You'll need it.

After trying it for about 20min...I was sold. I thought this was a remake of the NES version, didnt expect the Arcade Version. Hope we get Double Dragon II as well. I miss those helicopter kicks :D

whats the deal with the newer graphics making everything feel sluggish? I was going to drop 400 points on it, but now not so much. At first I thought it was my controller that was miffed, not the case-- switched it to original and the game plays a lot better.

Is the old soundtrack available as well? How does the whole soundtrack situation work? New soundtrack with new graphics and old with old? I'm a bit confused. If the old soundtrack is still in, I'm buying tonight.

as far as i could tell, it's all the old soundtrack. and it's still pretty awesome

well I should have 200/200 achievements (they're pretty easy once you figure out the tricks to them) by now but Im having trouble with one last co-op one (no continues to stage 4) since most people suck. I might do a guide if anyone's having trouble with them, feel free to ask.

A guide would be awesome...I never played this before!

Are you kidding? Do tell us how you made it through Lv. 1 without taking a single hit.

And to answer a previous question, you can only listen to the original soundtrack with the original graphics. New graphics gets you the remastered tracks.

It's not that hard actually, you just have to tread slowly and keep using the elbow. The one achievement that is giving me trouble is the Demolition Man achievement.

I'm interested in this, but I hope co-op doesn't lag my face off when I'm trying to play online. If the lag is worse than TMNT: The Arcade Game, then I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Really?

I randomly got that in the beginning of the second level when the idiot threw it, then him and his buddy jumped on it.

Why does the game slow down to a halt when theres 4-5 guys on screen? And why does everyone suck online? Hell I was taking more hits from my partner than the enemies.

grrr it's taken me 25 minutes to get approximately 27% of this downloaded. What's the deal for a 20-something mb game?

Yeah I just played online and my partner was "ok". But he kept trying to avoid getting hit while trying to have me hit the guys instead. Bleh. So you know what I did? ELBOW HIM! I ELBOWED THE BASTARD! Then he quit :( Funny stuff.

I can't get the first stage without getting hit, even when I'm elbowing people to death. Tried it for thirty minutes and it was rough.

Beating single player with no continues seems doable, only part that I have trouble with is the spears on the wall on Mission 4. I haven't tried online co-op yet, probably be playing throughout the week if any CAGs want to play some games.

yikes. IGN's review of this has totally shocked me out of buying this. There is a major flaw in the game and it's not an opinion, it's a gameplay fact. The slowdown is distinctively apparent to the point of frustration. How could they botch this up?

It's almost unplayable with more than two enemies on-screen. Seriously, this is awful.

And am I the only one who has no music? It's really irritating.

I tried to play DD a little earlier, and five minutes into it, my girlfriend said "Did you actually pay for this?" I can't say I disagree. gizmo said it first: waste of $5. What a load of unplayable crap.

I downloaded the demo at like 3 in the morning, played it, got hit and then couldn't get off the ground because i got hit everytime i got up, and then didn't buy it. They messed it up, what can i say.
I'm not having any problems that any one is mentioning. Mine works fine, did take a little while to download.
I agree. I mean I admit that there is a little slowdown whenever there's more than 3 characters on screen but its nothing that drastic that makes the game unplayable. Besides some of the slowdown was in the original arcade version of Double Dragon. If they were charging 800pts. then I could see the reason to complain but for 400pts. I think this is as good as it gets.

As a Double Dragon fan myself, I must say that I'm very satisfied with my purchase. This is a game that I would have never thought to see in the Xbox Live Marketplace due to the fact that there were some licensing issues and what not. I hope this sells well so that maybe we could potentially get the sequel on XBLA.

Btw, I officially hit the 200/200 mark on this game.

How ?! ?!

Write up a guide! I demand it! I got 40/200 and even THAT I feel accomplished .. :(

I played it yesterday and i like it, soon as my points come in ill be buying it. I seem to be one of the few, but i like the enhanced graphics better.

i don't think it's that it aged...it's just...i don't know...it doesn't feel the same. I'm sure if I popped in the nes version, i'd still have fun with it...but for some reason this version seems so slow and bleh.
