Free shiny versions of the three Pokemon (also with special moves) will be available in the new year at GameStop. Raikou from Jan 3-9, Entei from Jan 17-23, and Suicune from Jan 31-Feb 6. In addition, Toys R Us will be distributing Ash's Pikachu from Jan 30-Feb 13. Then, GameStop will again be offering another download (non-shiny Celebi) from Feb 21-March 6.

Celebi can also be had at the Pokemon Mall Tour, and the Legendary Beasts are currently being redistributed over NWFC.

Via Nintendo WiFi connection (yay for not having to go to a store), the first DLC for Pokemon Black & White will be made available in the form of the new psychic & fire type Pokemon, Victini. You will not be able to download Victini directly. It will be an item called a "Liberty Pass" that you'll be able to download via Nintendo WiFi connection, and this item will eventually trigger the unlocking of Victini in the game. The Liberty Pass will be available for download from March 6th-April 10th.

Also, something to note for those who plan on transfering:
There are two methods to migrate Pokemon from Diamond, Peal, Platinum, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver to Black and White: The PokeTransfer (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/pokeshifter.shtml) and the Transfer Machine (http://serebii.net/blackwhite/transfermachine.shtml). The PokeTransfer is use to migrate all of your regular Pokemon to Black and White and is accessible only after completing the game. The Transfer Machine is used for migrating the Event Pokemon Raikou, Entei, Suicune, and Celebi and is available only after telling a special phrase to a character in Castelia City.

If you transfer the Event Rikou, Entei, Suicune, or Celebi through the PokeTransfer they will NOT unlock the Zorua and Zoroark Events.

I didn't have a full party, and haven't had a problem with any other download. It's weird. :p
You may wanna check that the stats aren't ruined/look off on those that downloaded fine, then. The daycare fix would help if you ran into any.

EDIT: You can get as many as you want, just get another mew if you have to.
Not sure if this has been mentioned (and if not, why it hasn't) but if you have a wi-fi connection you can manipulate the DNS to receive free event pokemon (among others, and the vast majority are legitimate unhacked pokemon) from fan-based events.

If you aren't interested in what they're offering, you can just search "pokemon wifi event dns" or something similar to find other events.
For the second link, are those legit (original) pokemon just you redirect your DS to them? I missed a few WiFi/TRU/GS events and would love to get those pokemon but am not interested in getting something someone put up from a hacked/GameShark copy...

EDIT: as in, would they pass legitimacy tests?

Anything involving an event (Gamestop, TRU, etc) is legit (I cant confirm that myself but others have said so). The Tropius is titled as hacked. Not sure about the Gen. II starters, I really just used the second link as an example and used the first link to get the legit event pokemon they are offering.

I don't know a whole lot about this kind of thing though, I just stumbled upon it a few days back and thought sharing it would be beneficial to the CAGs that can't make it to an event or are just too nervous to go.

The first link, I got a lot of hacked Pokemon from that "gameboy" event. I was disappointed about that.

Also, my Mystery Mew revived after I removed him from the PC, as Kaiser indicated.

I know that a few are legit, but I'm no expert on any of this. The shiny Dratini with Master Ball was a legal one, I believe. Like I said I haven't checked myself, since I'm not even sure of the process aside from checking the basics like moveset, stats, location found, etc.

But yes, one of those DNS codes offer more hacked pokemon than anything. I haven't messed with them for days so the pool of pokemon they offer has probably changed. Last I remember, one of those two gave out shiny gym leader pokemon. Not the case now though.

I didn't realize they changed. I was looking at the second one because I missed on the TRU Arceus, Shinomyan (sp?) etc and wanted them but only if I could get real versions, not hacked ones. I know someone with a cart who said he could give me the old Pikachu (date change on his DS) but that didn't work with SoulSilver.

Anyone have any links (DNS thingy, I guess) to where I could get some real Event pokemon? And out of curiosity, are these things sending me to old Nintendo servers or a private server?

So I tried it, and when I got into the GTS it said something like "Graveler is fleeing" and I turned it off thinking that maybe I had to have an open spot in my party. Turns out, I didn't have a Graveler in my party, so I don't know what it was doing. And now it won't work again.

In that first link, in the 3rd to last step, what does "blue screen disconnect" mean? Or is it really that second sentence, where it says to just simply exit ?

I keep getting an error message when I attempt this. Anyone else getting that issue? Trying to get the Mystery Mew and using the 1st DNS (72.232.228.108) and I can't connect.

Those that are able to do this offer any help?
I set my IP manually (to whatever your access point is using) when I set the DNS manually.
Thanks that worked.

Seriously. I'm not a fan of this upcoming B/W game. I'll be able to transfer my trio over up front. But the rest of my team can't be imported until after I've beaten the game? That is the stupidest excuse ever.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I knew that there wouldn't be any old Pokemon catchable in the game, but it wont allow transfering either? Well, shit. There goes my tradition of having basically a 2nd starting pokemon by bringing over a low level Dratini to raise.

Yep.

The Transfer Machine (LINK) will only allow for Event Pokemon and Items to be transferred in and the PokeShifter (LINK) will allow you to transfer your Pokemon into Black or White.

Another minus - No items are able to be imported (aside from event items). So no transferring over any pkmn with extra PokeBall's or Exp. Shares.

LAME INDEED!!!

Really, a mini-game to get my pokemon? Why can't it just be a simple transfer? I don't want to have to play a game in order to play another game with my old pokemon.

Because GameFreak wants you to relive the "joy" of catching your Pokemon all over again.

Got Entei, Would have got Suicune and Celebi as well. But the nintendo rep was watching us closely and I didn't want to get the store employee in trouble. They are cool at my gamestop and would have done it if I asked. But I didn't want to get the employees fired for my own greed.
I wish they would just totally start pokemon over so it can be fun again.
That is basically B/W. It is a game that introduces approximately the same number of Pokemon as R/B/Y and keeps you from importing until after beating the game. Before completing the game, you will only see the 153 or so newly introduced Pokemon.

Well, I probably should have made it more clear, but the instructions say to have a full party when attempting this. Aside from that, I've never ran into that problem..or any problems with this, sorry.
In that first link, in the 3rd to last step, what does "blue screen disconnect" mean? Or is it really that second sentence, where it says to just simply exit ?
After you get the pokemon from the GTS, a blue error screen will come up, talking about a disconnect or something similar. Just click A and accept it. There is no real error, and when you boot your save, you'll walk out of the GTS with the pokemon in your first available PC spot.

Umm They didn't allow you to transfer any pokemon from the previous generation until you beat the game in the 4th generation games, so why would they allow you to do it in the 5th gen games?

And you had to recapture your pokemon in the 4th gen games after transferring them. Seriously, they did the EXACT same things as the previous generation with the 5th. Not like doind a mini game is anything new. There will always be complainers regardless.

There will always be complainers regardless.

Why do we have to go through the hassle of recapturing Pokemon we've caught and raised?

Why do we have to lose our hard-earned items?

I don't really know. But I'm not going to complain about it being in B/W. I got all of my complaining done from D/P. I'm just saying that there is no need to complain about something like it's a brand new issue.

You can transfer items over with pokemon. Not too hard.

The poster above said you can't even transfer items with Pokemon in BW?
They do though...with every game.
I mean not allow transfers and crap and really redo it and update it to feel a little less archaic. Redo them all stat wise and rebalance everything.

It honestly feels like Im playing the exact same game over and over no matter how much they add. I want them to pull a mario64 or Zelda wind waker on the pokemon universe. Same with friggin animal crossing. Im sick of nintendo selling the same game over and over. Worse than madden.

Oh yes. Then I completely agree. I rag on Nintendo all the time for re-releasing the same exact game over and over (Zelda, Mario, to a lesser extent DKC) but I still play Pokemon, even though it is the most blatant example of "more of the same."

Some of Pokemon's design choices are SO archaic and dated that they've become laughable, but at the same time, people have just come to accept those mechanics as is, AKA, it's just how Pokemon is. I can see how anyone who didn't play and love a previous Pokemon game would completely shit on how some of Pokemon's mechanics work.

do you have to pre order the game? because when I went to the mall one day on the first day of the legendary dogs (I was early so it closed) it said to ask an employee, I had to leave and was unable to ask but Im very interested in getting Ash's pikachu

If you have any difficulty in getting the Event Pokemon, talk to an employee or try to find the Nintendo rep in the store. If anyone tries to force you to pre-order anything, ask to speak with their manager or district manager. They have no ground to force you to do anything.

I tried to download today and I got an error that I had already downloaded it. I'm thinking their clock is off and its thinking I'm trying to download Raikou again. I'll have to check another Gamestop later.

I just got back from Gamestop and for some reason they must have had the Suicine cart in instead of the Entei cart - because I got a shiny Suicune.

Anyone else encounter this? I wanted Entei more than Suicune...think Entei will be up for Suicune's time period now?

Probably not. you can go to another gamestop and get an Entei, though. Or just ask the guy to switch the dates on his DS to get Entei.

there is only one cart. The pokemon you get is determine by the DS's clock

I will probably use these legendary dogs in my run through of HG/SS as I haven't even beaten them yet. But I'm thinking about EV training at least the Entei. I know it's not usable in competitive play but the move set isn't that bad.
But what's its nature?!?!
What Gamestop is this? A Pokemon holding a retail video game must be super rare!!

argh. i keep missing these. i gotta get to a gamestop and see if my friend can change the dates on the ds there and try to get all 3 at once? lol, peace cag

I ended up getting Entei on Friday, and while there also ended up picking up DQ5 (complete) for $35, minus a $25 GC from e-rewards.

In total with the Shiny PKMN promotion I have spent (pre GC) nearly $100 at GameStop while there for the PKMN. That realization amazed me. I've spent more there the hour I was there combined between the two visits than I did in the past 2 years.
