Edit: After playing the first segment, I'd say you definately want Varric, your romantic interest, and your sibling, if possible, in your party for the storyline conversations.
Completed the DLC with all achievements completed in a little over 2 hours.
My thoughts
It's really amazing. Great boss fights and new designs for the darkspawn. I would suggest taking your sibling along for the DLC because it makes it that much better. I can see this DLC having huge implications on Dragon Age 3.
Well, I liked it. Great environments, lots of unique dialogue from Hawke and the party members too (including a very funny exchange between Aveline, Merrill, and Hawke about how elves fare underground, which if it was recycled from the main game, at least I'd never heard before), some nice additions to the series lore, and a big choice at the end that was interesting enough that I'm already thinking about replaying the DLC with another character just to see what happens
when you side with Janeka
. BioWare definitely addressed all of the problems people had with Witch Hunt and the other Origins DLCs.
That said, apart from a heavy emphasis on environmental traps that could be triggered by Hawke or the enemies, which were pretty fun to mess around with, this was essentially just more Dragon Age II. I did have to laugh at the way BioWare addressed the complaints about the "wave" combat-- by adding monster closets to the levels. It made absolutely no practical difference to how the game played, but at least it made a little more sense than enemies just ninja'ing down from the sky, so... win, I guess?
I did have a problem with
the boss fight at the end, namely that the pathfinding AI of the companions is just not good enough to navigate a maze while dealing with moving environmental hazards at the same time. At one point I had to restart because all three of my party members got hung up on a rock, couldn't dodge the wall of fire and were all dead within five seconds, and this was on Casual.
I'm at the final seal and I only have 1/2 of the armor set. Did I miss the other 2 pieces?
You get the third piece from finishing the DLC. I didn't find a helmet, but some of the sets only have three pieces, right?

Every set is 4, unless this is different for some reason.
Every set is 4, unless this is different for some reason.
Hmm, right you are. I thought for sure there some sets with only armor/gauntlets/greaves. I guess I'm screwed then. :/
OK to get the helm you have to activate the 4 different colored power nexus after you're trapped in the room with the rotating columns, then go back to that room and rotate the columns so all 4 levels of the colors are turned white. That will open the area in the northeast part of the map where the helm is in a chest.
Thanks Hitman....I scoured every inch of that prison tower and couldn't figure out where the helm could be or what those nexus things were for.
I just finished Legacy tonight and I loved it. It brought out the best of DA2, tied beautifully into the overall DA universe and quite possibly set up DA3. L O V E D it. I forgot how much I loved the quote " Messing with us is suicidal."
Yeah, from all that I've read and seen about Legacy, it did not seem any better than the main game at all which sucks, if it had been better I would have probably rebought DA2 for it.
Well I think Legacy is the best DA DLC to ever come out minus Awakening. I hope the rest of stuff they do for DA 2 is just as good, if not better. I do think it should have been $7 instead of $10 though.

I'm with you. After talking about this with a friend, I am appreciating how much it linked DA2 to DAO.
Item Pack #2 is now available. Surprise release I guess-- I hadn't heard anything about this before today. Looks similar to the first pack with armors and weapons for all three classes, plus some accessories for party members.
I had seen something about it on Joystiq or Kotaku during Gamescom but never thought to post it. Sad I want more campaign/big expansion DLC, but I think EA is just going to scrap this game and concentrate on DA 3 now.
Supposedly BioWare will be talking about more quest DLC at PAX.
I sure hope so. Just one more 2-3 hour quest would be nice. Maybe something focusing on Isabella or someone other than Hawke would be a nice departure, kind of Leliena's song. Or how about a Flemeth themed quest??
As for the item pack #2, the armors look kind of lame to me. I'd rather spring for pack #1, the mage robes in that one look pretty cool.
I just saw an article about Dragon Age 3 from a talk with someone at Bioware. If no one else does I'll try to post the link later.
Dragon Age 3 This talks a bit about the next installment of the series, the devs want to take the best of both the first and second games.
Hawke meets a mysterious female Elvin assassin named Tallis, voiced by the talented Felicia Day, and joins her to steal an ancient relic from an Orlesian Baron in his well-guarded estate. A cross between Varric and Isabela, Tallis is a rogue who introduces a new fighting style to add more variety in combat. Get up close and personal with her deadly skills or stand back and pick off enemies with her ranged combat abilities.
Mark of the Assassin features new items, new enemies and monsters and new environments as well as giving players the opportunity to experience a new, tactical way to play with the return of Stealth gameplay. Plus, along with the new environments and monsters, you will learn more about the Orlesians and Qunari.
LOL. Good for her! Probably won't back into this game though until nearly all DLC is released even for Felicia Day. I have The Guild and Fallout: New Vegas for that fix.
Okay, honest question. Who the hell is Felicia Day and why should I care about her?
It seems like every site I visit is going ga-ga over here or something.
She's one of Joss Whedon's stable of actors (she had parts in Buffy, Dollhouse, and Dr. Horrible). She also has a web series about a World of Warcraft guild or something but I'm not as familiar with that. A lot of the fuss over her is just that she's a fairly attractive female who's really into games and other geek-type stuff.
Oh man, so freaking excited for Mark of the Assassin! I'm not a Felicia Day fan, but not a non-fan. I do think how they've integrated her character from the webisodes is slick. More than anything, I'm liking what I've dubbed "Party-Hawke" and how he can kick ass in a dinner jacket. Can't wait for this. The big question will be, can I put down Gears 3 for this???
My gaming time is so limited right now, but that's to be expected with a 2 week old baby!! She seems to like Bastion, though. HA!
Y'know that episode of The Simpsons where Lisa tries to stop the construction of a mall by organizing a fossil excavation at the building site? And she finds the fake angel bones, and then they get stolen and someone carves "The end will come at sundown" on them? There's a scene in that episode where someone is talking to the Pope: "Your Holiness, word has come from America than an angel has foretold the apocalypse."
So she's playing the gamer/nerd card to get fans.
I don't think she plays it like that, she seems to sincerely be a gamer/nerd herself. I'm a sometimes fan of hers.
She's an abomination (no Dragon Age pun attended), but I am still going to play the DLC because it looks pretty interesting.
Haha yeah, as a 3D modeler myself they could have done better on that face.
man is it hard to earn money in this game. i want to buy an item thats 100ish sovereign but who has that kind of money laying around for the whole game.
Hoping someone here can enlighten me. I have all my characters at 100% friendship but I can't seem to "learn" their friendship abilities. I'm at the beginning of Act 3 and was hoping it'd become available by now, but I'm worried that I'm somehow missing something here.
In case I'm not explaining this right:
I have Fenris at 100% frienship (using a walkthrough, I'm not getting anymore frienship points when using the proper dialogue). However, when leveling up I can't learn Kindred Spirits.
Gotta say, I'm loving this game. People were saying in the Gamefly deals thread that this game was really short and could be finished in less than 15 hours. I've already put in 32 hours and can't even imagine putting in any less than I have.
Ah I think you're right. Thanks.

15 hours sounds impossible to me. I would believe 20 if you skipped optional content and really rushed. People's perceptions of what's a short game can be weird sometimes. I've finished Mass Effect 1 in less than 6 hours but I've never heard anyone accuse that game of being short.
Eh... I could see doing it in 15 hours if you know what you're doing. Having various item DLCs could speed the first act up something fierce, and a good build can breeze through fights, especially on lower difficulties (and normal is damn easy in this game).
I don't think you need to manually learn it, it's just automatically granted to you when you hit 100%. So, you already have it.
You don't even need to get them at 100%.
But yeah, they're passive bonuses, not learned abilities. You'll know you have them (or the rivalry bonuses) if they "light up" in the character's skill screen (as was the case in your picture).
Just a public service announcement, Mark of the Assassin is now available. Also, don't forget about Item Pack #2 if like me you don't buy item packs until there's new quest content to use them in.
