Dragon's Dogma
Have any of you had the Gran Soren Innkeeper disappear? It's been about ten in-game days now. Also I didn't kill him nor did I ever hit him so I don't know what the problem is...
I did an escort quest... I didn't realize it at first but I was escorting the innkeeper. He got killed along the way and then I realized who he was when he wasen't at the desk. I panicked, but rested somewhere else for a week and he was back.

Hopefully its not a glitch. I've seen some people say the same thing..that he just disappears.

It could also be...some spoilers

I dont know how far are are into the game but I read that towards the end the Ur-Dragon abducts someone that you have high affinity for. I dont know if thats even true or know too much about it as im nowhere near the end...just something I stumbled upon.

The spoiler seems to match with what might have happened in my game. If that is the case then that is a major oversight, they should have had more than one NPC that let you change your Vocation. Anyways, thanks for your insight.

Had a few free MSP (Bing Rewards) so I bought the new DLC weapon pack.

There are twelve weapons and you get one of each for free (in storage).
The Black Cat sells extras if you want more.

Names & stats;
Wounded Fury- St 78 (Fht, MsK, Ass) Hurts Spirits
Sickening Skull- St 81 (MK) Hurts Zombies
Dragons Flight- St 113 (War) Hurts Dragons
Cyclops Bane- St 115 (War) Hurts Cyclops/Giant Humanoids
Saurian Bane- St 54 (Str, Ass, MsA, Rng) Hurts Lizards
Goblin Bane- St 13, Mgk 73 (Mag, MsK, MsA) Hurts Goblins
Evil Eyesight- St 23, Mgk 118 (Sor) Hurts Eye Creatures
Hellfang (shield)- St 23 (Fht, Ass) Hurts Beasts/Animals
Zombiebane (shield)- St 31, Mgk 64 (MsK) Hurts Undead
Griffinbane- St 41 (Str, Ass) Hurts Griffins/Flying Monsters
Hydra Husk- St 51 (Rng) Hurts Hydras
Metered Catharsis- Mgk 49 (MsA) Hurts Humans

Unlike some weapons you actually notice the increase at the final level but the materials needed can get kinda crazy.

e.g. Wounded Fury rises from 78 St to 208 St at level 3 but you need 12 complete Wakestones to do it.
How many hours did it take you?
Right now my game time is sitting at 31 hours but I have been doing post game stuff for awhile. I would say I beat the main game in 20-25 hours.

Possible spoilers ahead.

Well it turns out that is exactly what happened. In post game he was in my house (freeloader  ) and I have all the options that I had when he was at the inn including sleeping till morning/nightfall and it only costs me 500G to sleep in my own house! What a steal!

But anyways I was hoping he would appear in Gran Soren so I don't have to waste time walking or using ferrycrystals having to warp to the port crystal I set in front of Cassardis. Apparently the only way to get him in Gran Soren again is to kill him thus zeroing out his affinity for me and he *should* respawn there within a few days or so. I just don't want to risk him completely disappearing or something. All in all I'm just glad to be able to switch vocations again!

Ending spoiler ahead.

Also WTF with my character being in love with him, I found that the way they did the sacrifice thing to be so stupid. I mean why not use a character from the main story who people might actually have an emotinal connection with (i.e Mercedes, Quina e.t.c.) instead of the person you have the highest affinity with, which can be any freaking doofus. A serious missed opportunity here, the ending turned from a possible moment of me feeling "Oh I feel for this person, I must save them!" to "Oh so here's where the f'n innkeeper was. Well I guess I'll save him if only to be able to switch vocations again." Granted the second thing could be considered "emotional" if only for completely different reasons.

But the Ur dragon battle was epic so it made up for most it I guess.

Ending area spoiler question.

Does anyone know how many pieces (and what the names are) of the various armor/clothing pieces you find leading up to the battle with the Ur dragon?

I found:

-Flame Skirt

-Champion's Bangles

-Dragon Band

-Dragonleather Vest

-Golden Belt

-Dragon Hide Bracers

-Molten Boots

-Ring or Argent (I think I found it there...)

I believe that's everything I found.

On a completely different note, when I checked today my pawn had been rented out (that just sounds wrong) 4 times since yesterday and I got around 80,XXX RC. I was gifted a ferrystone and a few other alright things and my pawn was rated 5 stars across all categories so that makes me feel pretty good!

Glad to see he was there...lol@being in love with him. I wonder how the game picks who you have high affinity for? I know you can give gifts which I guess would make someone like you..im going to be giving them to someone else so hes not taken

I'm really enjoying this game after what I feel was a slow start and a burden of information with poor tutorials. It's great now that I actually know to hold down the button continuously for more powerful spells like high ingle with my magic archer.

The large map is neat but I have to confess a frustration with the lack of fast travel. It seems so tedious that I'm willing to pay for ferrystones to avoid the absurd required shlepping. I understand the desire to get players to explore but why not just make it optional?

Feel free to friend me if you want to check out my pawn Brego. He's A level 22 fighter thus far. The online pawn system is really a cool unique feature.

I completely forgot about giving gifts, I think I only did it once near the beginning of the game. I guess talking to people also give them affinity towards you? What's-his-face must have been really desperate for love then seeing as how I never gave him any gifts and I didn't do his escort quest, only talked to him not too much more than any of the other innkeepers really. A good way for you to gauge who will be the sacrifice is to go for the trophy/achievement for raising a person's affinity to max, just be sure that the person you pick will be someone you're okay with your character making out with ;)

-----------------------------

I switched to ranger class after maxing out my fighter class, it seems I've only ever aquired one longbow though... Also my main pawn is a maxed out mage (Lvl 43) since I like to not worry about healing myself constantly with herbs and I really disliked playing as a mage in this game. I was thinking about switching to mystic knight and ranking up, but is it a fun class to use and are there good/helpful upgrades?

It will be a cheesy and ridiculous montage after slaying the dragon.

One thing I wish I would have done differently would have been actually doing the side quests. I only did a few since with games like these I tend to do all the main story stuff first then I go onto the side quests but that's not possible in this game... That's probably my biggest gripe with this game. Another minor gripe is that when you go to purchase armor/clothing/weapons it doesn't show that you already have the item if it's in the item storage, so a few times I accidentally purchased something I already owned. Although, to be fair quite a few games don't do that so it's nothing new, but there's just so many things in this game it's hard to memorize all of what I have/don't have.

I'll probably bite on this since getting Monster Hunter Frontier seems like a pipe dream. Played the demo and had a good experience. Watching all my pawns and me latched onto the chimera and stabbing it simultaneously was hilarious.

Beat this a few days ago but haven't started on the post game stuff yet. The person the dragon captured ended up being that french girl(at least I think shes supposed to be french) the one where you do that quest and she fights some guy and you have to decide to help her or just watch. I opted not to help and she ended up losing the duel, gave me her sword and said she was leaving back to her home or something.

The dragon fight was cool but it ended so quick. Once your done with all the running and you fight him I was expecting a crazy battle. The very first time he got stunned and fell, we went at his heart. I was a ranger so I was blasting him with arrows and all of a sudden it was over... I swear he had a ton more health...oh well. Overall a damn good game and I hope it sells good enough for them to put out some decent DLC.

I actually had some trouble with the dragon but I think that's due mostly to me be under-leveled since I kind of rushed through on the first playthrough. I'm really taking my time in new game+ though.

I was sidetracked by other stuff but I put another 10 hours into the game over the weekend. I'm having a lot of fun with it as the Magick Archer. I am in a love/hate relationship with the running around. Its fun to run around and fight all the different monsters and gather mats, but sometimes I really just don't feel like going across the map for an event that might not even take a minute.

It seems like I'm missing out on stuff though. I've covered the entire map and explored over 100 areas per the achievement, but I have still yet to fight 1 giant bat, or any hydras (minus the one in the very beginning) . I did however stumble across a dragon in one of the forests. Took me about 10-15 min but I eventually killed it. I would've said it was satisfying, but I'm having an issue where my pawns wont use health potions or food anymore, so I had to keep reviving them. It does seem they like spring water, though now instead of never healing, they use the bottle with only a loss of 5-10% health.

I coulda sword in the demo you could make pawns use items at the inventory screen. I'm not sure if they worried it would be "too easy" if you controlled that, but it is annoying as hell when they are loaded up and don't use those items after multiple deaths.

And thank you for giving me another reason to poke around here any there off the beaten path...giant bat sounds badass. I just hope it doesn't fly away like griffins do mid-battle.

Sadly I just looked up what a giant bat was and its those regular sized bats you come across in dungeons that take 1 hit to kill (like the spiders). Seems like a misuse of the word "giant" in scope of the rest of the big monsters.

Wah wah waaah...! Oh well! The more I play this, the more I want to see/hear what they're planning fit the next one.

Still playing every day but they need to hurry up and add a higher difficulty option for level 100-200 players.

---

My pawn was barely rented even though she had a good skill/behavior combination and dragon forged gear.
Recently I took off the armor, gave her the silver chestplate and silk underwear, then changed her appearance to She-Hulk.

Over 10 rentals this morning.

Just choose the youngest looking girl and the skimpiest armor and i'm sure you'll get hundreds. Thousands if NTSC-U characters are available on the NTSC-J game.

So a little confused by some of the stories I've read about Dark Arisen. Is it available for purchase seperately or do you have to buy a GotY esque rerelease of the full game to get it also?

The only way to get it is to buy the GOTY release. According to someone at Capcom, this is why it isn't just DLC

"I’m sorry but unfortunately there were major technical limitations that would couldn’t allow for a digital upgrade path. The original game was just not designed to be expanded (no hooks in the original code) and so a full-game delivery mechanism was the only option."

If you have a DD save and get this then you'll receive 100,000 rift crystals, and an unlimited ferrystone...and I think a costume pack.

Not sure... I have a used copy I got from Best Buy that I have to today... Not so much because of this new release but because they sold me a sealed used copy with no instruction manual and that really bugs me.
