This years "Game days" sales (remember those 9.89 games?) is running a bit early this year, hopefully a lot of stuff to come, flyer scans will be up on the 3rd, but I am willing to send them for a few good men, regulars only via PM. The rest of you can wait a few days, :)

Picked up Lost Planet for $3.99 at EB games on regent, the one behind the case I took was stickered at $19.99.(both non-colonies edition)
Many sealed copies of the ACDC Track Pack(360) left.

I frequent three or four stores that are in the normal rounds I do here... I think a lot of places have brutally dropped the ball on this sale... tons of price changes unmade (particularly on used) and just general disarray.

Two of the locations have been doing fine... the other two, no.

Care to mention which stores? Otherwise, not sure what the point of this post was.
 
Was at the eb games in windsor ontario in devonshire mall yesterday, they had Guitar Hero Aerosmith PS3 4.89 (new), no used copies. Had AC/DC PS3 9.99 (new), no used copies. Then I got Mirror's Edge PS3 for 24.99 (new), they again had no used copies.

Not really sure what value "which stores" would add to the post, TBH.

The point of the post is merely to express disappointment with the sale at the store level, commenting on dtp11's post about the fact that a lot of stores have stuff like Lost Planet (which AFAIK is still on sale) still marked at pre-sale prices and used copies of the sale games marked higher than the new prices.
 
is it me or has gamerdays sucked this year ?

I think i read somewhere from gamer that there won't be any weekly deals likke last year because they lost too much money. I think its in the RfD forum.

Ok cool, I was just curious as to which specific stores were 'good' or 'bad' in your opinion, since yeah, some stores have good diligence + service, others sometimes don't have a clue that a sale is even on, or any details... I just thought you'd wanna call out certain EBs ;) Personally I don't like the Eaton Ctr. EB that much, but the Yonge/Eg EB has good service imo.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm a big fan of Fire Emblem and I've been looking at that the Wii one for awhile now.
 
flyer lists only mem cards, controllers, and something else as 25% off. Anyone have different results? I'd love to find a used PS3 eye...
 
Went to EB today, here's what I found interesting:

Dual Hearts - 6.99$ or 2/7.99$
Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime - 11.99$
Baten Kaitos - 12.99$ or 2/19.99$ (must have dropped recently, there was multiple copies)

I see, I was surprised to see it at that price, last time I checked it was 19.99$. That's the price I paid...and didn't play yet -_-
Anyhow, decent price for this game.

And to make it clear, the 2/20$, 2/30$ 2/40$ is on SELECT used titles only (as stated in the flyer). I know it's not written explicility on the website but it is in the flyer.

So it applies to bargain bin only.

I'm finding it's a YMMV thing. My local EBs are including anything included in the price ranges for the deals.
 
I'm still confused on the whole "2 for x" deals. One place I went to said it only goes up to 2 for $30 (I asked about two used $34.99 games that I was interested in, thinking I could get them both for $40 but I was told they didn't qualify. Is $29.99 the limit or something?), so uh....yeah. I didn't even think to look at the flyer while there, but when I got home it does say 2 for $40....right guys? But maybe I just don't understand how this deal works. lol.

But she did say any used game, not just the ones in the bins.

I finally found two stores that actually knew what was going on with the deal.

9.99-14.99 games are 2/20
15.00-19.99 are 2/30
20.00-24.99 are 2/40

Any games outside of that range do not count. I explicitly asked about buying a game for 29.99 and a game for 24.99 and no go. At the other store I asked about a 34.99 game (Chrono Trigger, I almost bought it anyway) and a 24.99 game and it didn't count.
 
It looks like its only the bin with the SELECT signs, but it will work with anything when they total it and you have 2 games in the same price range. The staff dont even seem to know what the deal is.

they've lowered the price of a lot of past gen suff. Especailly whats left of xbox, but also some gc and ps2.

Might be some finds on the shelf with most people not realizing what the deal is. When I bought two they first gave me the full totoal, so i geve my edge card...tried that and said it didnt work but read the new total 2 for $20

Nah, I'm not in the business of calling out ;)

Also, I'm not in TO or Van, so I was thinking about the wider audience here :p

Gonna re-check some used games tomorrow... I'm so not into the sale... haven't bought anything, but I'm sure I could find a few games that would be worth getting at 2/$20-30-40.
 
i kinda got bummed out that the deals suck... and the price labels dont change so how do you know if something is changed... im not in the mode to constantly ask or make those lazy people grudgingly do work lol or even if you ask they just tell you yeah go look at the price tag on the shelf that they dont update...

The 2 for X is so screwed up. I've tried doing it twice with games that were $14.99 and it didn't work either time. Luckily the staff was nice enough to do the 2 for $20 anyways. They mentioned how stupid it was as they didn't know what titles qualified either.

looks like my local EB is going by the book.
Not sure if any CAG-ers can confirm. Apparently the 2/$xx deals at my eb are only for old gen consoles.

9.99-14.99 are 2/20 list of 10 360 games including Avatar?
15.00-19.99 are 2/30 list of 10 PS3 games
20.00-24.99 are 2/40 list of 10 Wii games including Spiderwick and Ninja Reflex

pretty cold deal... maybe i'll try a different EB. But they showed me the official printout that they had instructing them to sell those games only.

2 for 8 is 3.99 to 7.99.
2 for 20 is 9.99 to 14.99
2 for 30 is 15.99 to 19.99
2 for 40 is 20.99 to 24.99

That means you could have combined any used 14.99 from anywhere in the store to get a 2 for 20.

The computer did the changes automatically.

As of today, the deal has changed. It still works on GBA, XB, GC, PS2 & PC. It no longer works on DS and PSP used titles at all. As for next gen there are 8 titles from each next gen system (8 wii, 8 ps3, 8 360) that work for a specific "2 for" deal. The games will change.

The list for this week (April 11 to April 18) is:

Ah well thanks for confirming. I was rather confused when my local EB said today that there was some sort of "list" they had to follow. With no signs of games going for 9.89 i guess my only good pick from this year's sale was Mirror's Edge for 19.99 :cry:

There seems to be a couple of copy left at EB Games, in Place Rosemere, Quebec, if anyone is interested in an old hockey game.
 
I was in there today and the manager asked another staffer why the 14.99 didnt automatically coming up 2 for $20. Staffer said that was happening with all of them today. they were just manually changing them. Eb stores never seem to have a clue with their own promotions. All kinds of titles not on that list in the bins (nothing good).

That's certainly not a complete list, they're really just guess & test at the counter. I picked up The Red Star (of all things) today and it was $5 off :roll: It's defiantly not on a "best seller" list anywhere...

That's a sweet deal, cause the game is 9.99 used. So 4.99 for it is a steal.

That is extremely YMMV. I was never able to get any used games to apply the store manager itself. And it didn't ring at that price at all.

Bottom line is EBGames Canada will have to get their shit together. This is so confusing and frustrating for alot of customers. I'm definitely calling to file a complaint and you should do the same.

i picked up eight for three bucks back in october, then i went to pnt and got 10 bucks apeice.
 
Pokemon Explorers of Time and Pokemon Explorers of Darkness are $14.89 New until Tuesday.

Picked up Explorers of Darkness. It is a huge improvment over Blue Rescue Team. They polished up the game and in my opinion imporoved on the fighting system. If anyone is on edge on buying this I suggest that you pick it up.

I'm so tempted to pick this up, but I was hoping The Source would drop them even lower eventually....I've never played the first one, though.
