In classic fashion they elimate any way possible in which this deal may be profitable, but its not that bad I guess if you have som older junk that doesnt trade in for as much anymore

Offer good on games 59.99 or less. Expires 7th August 2007.

Again not great but if you hav some old crap then why not?

I still have to switch something to SSBB but I have to go to another store for that. I also had a talk with the manager about Mario Strikers and he said they aren't sure if they will have it on Monday or Tuesday. It would normally be Tuesday but it might get shipped early for sale on Monday. He also said Nintendo sent all the EB/GS managers copies to play in advance :)shock:) and he really, really likes it - says it is by far his favorite Wii game.
 
is the cheapest route to madden 08 by purchasing 2 enchanted arms? or is there an alternative? lol
for the YMMV on this, is it just acceptance of enchanted arms or is it not being able to trade in 2 of the same game?
cause some guy on craigslist is selling def jam icon for 20. lol

Now it is coming in very handy as I have all these EB/GS deal preorders spread across 6 stores. So one glance at the sheet and I know where to go to switch them to SSBB and Mario Galaxy - no need to dig up the receipts.

It sounds like a lot of work but since I got the initial sheets set up it has saved me tons of time in terms of keeping track of stuff and it is a minimal commitment to keep it updated (I come home with trade receipts and late that night I figure out what I spent on the fodder, enter a new line in the appropriate sheet - maybe 5-10 minutes total if I made a few trades that day).

Note that I used to do the same thing for my finances and investments (such as they were - mostly retirement account stuff) but I stopped doing that as I lost interest (I still save, I just put it away and don't think about it as much as I used to). It is really just that I'm into the whole game deals thing now, so this is kind of a way to obsess about it at home while I'm not out hunting ;) - much like a comic book or DVD collector may type up their collection on the computer. Except for me it's not the actual games themselves that I keep track of, but the transactions that I used to get them. Now if only I could organize my physical (office/home) space, or even my actual game collection, I'd be on to something![/quote]

I do the same thing, except with cards that I collect. I have an Excel Spreadsheet and then have it break down into a pie chart to show how many of which type of card I have and whatnot.

Enchanted Arms IS on the exclusion list if they have the new ones printed up for the July 28th extension. If they still have the older signs up then it is not on there but should be excluded anyway. Of course, YMMV on getting them to accept it. It is also YMMV to take 2 of the same game at once to trade in. Those 2 factors make it very unlikely you will get a new PS3 game for 2 copies of Enchanted Arms. I wouldn't try it, anyway, but I'm sure someone will be able to pull it off.

Yukine - pie charts, you say? :whistle2:k... I might have to consider that (perhaps a pie chart showing the current state of my GC/GR/EB credit ;)).
 
Should i trade Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario in for Mario Strikers Charged? I beat Super Paper Mario already, and MP8 didnt impress me too much.

to be more helpful, i think you can do better than 25$ store credit for each of those games, assuming they are in full working condition
 
Yeah, for one thing you can get between $30 and $33 for each of those at Gamecrazy, so you'd get Strikers + $10 or more in credit. Or you could just get the $60+ in credit and use it for whatever you want later.

You could also probably get more than $60 for them on eBay if they are in good shape. But I could understand not wanting to hassle with that - if not, go with Gamecrazy if you have the option (or possibly Gamerush if you have one and they ever get new games in).
 
yeh, pop 'em up on Goozex or something. You'd get like 1800pts for them, give or take 100. That's around $90 trade, although you might have to wait a tiny bit for certain in-demand things.

Yeah, nintendo is good like that. They send out a decent number of their games to the GS managers. If it's a handheld title, my local manager usually holds it aside for me. I heart my local EB.

Anyways, back on topic - I hope people are able to take advantage of this deal in the next few days before it ends. I have the next several big Wii releases (starting with Strikers and ending with stuff not yet even announced once I switch all my NiGHTS and Mario & Sonic preorders) all paid up via this deal. Very nice indeed...

and genji isnt excluded either?[/quote]Sports games that they're going to exclude are games with numbers in the title like NHL 2K7 or Madden 2007. Def Jam: Icon and THP8 aren't going to be excluded.

I tried my local EBgames and Gamestop for this deal and it would only work towards new Wii games on-site. This is not at all what I wanted.

What I attempted to trade was Super Monkey Ball and Warioware in exchange for a preorder of Super Mario Galaxy. I then wanted Mario Strikers instead but that wouldn't work because the game comes out one day after the deal expires.

I then asked if I could in a way prolong the promotion. Trade my games for a new Wii game and return that one unopened within 7 days for a new copy of Mario Strikers or credit. That wouldn't work either.

All in all disappointed in this deal, it didn't work for me. Congrats to those who managed to get a preorder with their Disney cash-in videogames. I wish I was that lucky.
 
^^^ That sucks, but there's nothing to stop you from getting it from the one store and returning to another and then putting a preorder down. They are more likely to accept a return like that (or should I say, happier to do so) if you say up front you want to preorder something in full with the credit. It also might help if you get a gift receipt when you get the initial game (though I've found it makes no difference).

I dunno. It has been a while since I asked for one, so maybe they've gotten more strict about issuing them. Or maybe they just don't like you ;).

But it wouldn't hurt to ask why they refuse to give a gift receipt and then ask how you can contact their District Manager about it if they still refuse.

Don't worry - even if you meant the text from the picture I figured it was a joke, anyway, and I responded in kind with a likewise lighthearted joke. I didn't think you were asking for/hinting at/implying anything in particular ;). So, don't worry about it (from me anyway!). Given that this is cheap-ass gamer and we all want to save money, it would have been an appropriate joke to make, text and all. I assume Yukine is only ribbing you good-naturedly (is that a word? :lol:) as well (he can correct me if I'm wrong).

do i have to be 18? im only 17.... lol[/quote]First, I would go in and say you want to take advantage of the Trade two Wii (or ps3) games for a New One deal which you were emailed about from GameStop (in the event that they took down or never put up the advertising). Ask them to see the list of which games are excluded (this way they shouldn't BS you).

If your two games are not on the list, trade them in.

But as you're 17 you may need to have Mom or Dad in the car or nearby to tell them that you have their authority to trade your games in. I don't believe it's federal, more likely state by state which dictates if you can trade in under 18. And it's district by district and store by store as to who actually abides by their laws.

Although if having Mom or Dad around is inconvenient for them and it turns out you won't need them there, do a quick search for a GS store local to you, call them and ask if you have to be 18 or older to trade your games in. This way you'll know whether Mom & Dad have to be with you or not.


Sorry io. What you saw was a prime example of why I shouldn't post so late. Judgment, reasoning and interpretation get kinda screwy after bedtime.

wtf genji is excluded? on the site the game is 29.99 i thought it had to be 24.99 or higher.. arghhhhhhhhhh, i just called a GS
i guess it was just this GS, i called another. lol the guy said i have to be 18 then i asked if my friend could doit for me( hes 18) and he said parent or guardian... whatever thanks OP, whether i get what i want or not :), do i have to pay tax? i searched the thread for the word tax, the guy that rejected genji said i have to pay the tax.
 
paying tax is weak b/c you arent 'buying' anything. a few cool employees (that i will never cancel preorders from) price overoded (sp) to 54.something, thats cool
 
Successfully traded in Meet the Robinsons and Avatar for a pre-order on Metroid Prime 3. The guy who rung it up for me was incredibly nice and said he was overriding just about any game that was mentioned in the e-mail but not on the store displays.

it just makes me sick that they will give you $25 for a new release game, then turn around and sell it for $55

Uh, yeah... it is now - it had been extended till July 28th. Dead now - there's the sweet $10 extra on DS and PSP games one going on though. In some ways that is better than this one.
 
Hold on. Gamestop just told me the deal ended on July 29, but the topic poster lists the end date as August 7. I was banking on that later date. What gives? Is there any official proof to back up the Aug 7 date, something I can use to make them honor this date?
 
It's NOT August 7th. Dunno where they got that from. It was extended to the 29th of July and ended. The DS/PSP trade-in deal has replaced this.

Yeah, I think it might have originally been JULY 7th, and that was misinterpreted. Then it was extended by quite a while (to July 28). It was never August anything. Either the OP or a mod should modify the first post (a mod should move this to the Graveyard, actually).

It's over and done with except for possible discussion of returning the new games obtained (from those stores that didn't allow preorders) and putting down preorders in their place. I'd still like to know if people are having a hard time returning things from deals like this.

Meanwhile, I'm actually playing the first of my preorders obtained from this deal (Mario Strikers), and I can't wait for the next one (Metroid)! Whoo-hoo!
 
I hope this goes on again when I can access my games. I've games in my TL that no one wants or gives me crazy trades for. I need Super Paper Mario.

if you bring in a receipt with avatar/mtr and a crap load of bonus credit, be prepared to give them a fight. ive had some employees verbally call me a cheater and ive had some employees smile and just do their job
