I will update if I find more

Ok, this is getting boring, no drops for a while now... I'm gonna go get lunch. Hope I don't miss the excitement. And for the EB webmaster watching this site, you have the best job in the world!

EB headquarters is literally 5 minutes down the road from me. Didn't realize that for years...when I first moved here, I didn't care b/c I wasn't yet enamored of EB. Then I just assumed it was a warehouse. Now that I order from them nearly daily, I know that the warehouse is in a different town nearby, and that's really the corporate headquarters! Used to have a digital sign on the front that said how many stores there were worldwide, but it stopped working like a year ago (so it can't fuel anyone's obsessive merger theories).

Also, the QVC studios are 3 minutes from my house and a minute from my job. It's nice b/c when I go away, I can turn on the TV and know my home town hasn't blown up or anything. 8)

Wow, if you could somehow get into EB headquarters and cause havoc on the website that would be so fun. Like drop all the games to $4.99!
Since we are talking about new games in this thread, I wanted to check to make sure you know that those codes are only good on used games.
1. Oops, wrong thread. HAHA.

2. Just reinforces my point. Paying $5.29 for games that will probably sell for $4 is psychotic.
hahaha, eh, this is tense. It's a slow friday at work, I have nothing better to do right now. :D Hey schultzed, shouldn't you be teaching your class?
You're scaring me . . . with all these posts and you're a bit intense about this. :)

My summer contract is nice . . . TWTH 3 hours per day . . . 4 day weekend.

a quota would make sense . . . and I guess the volume of cheapasses is growing . . . what with FatWallet and other sites.

Still it seems fishy that they sell soooo fast.

jjz203 . . . where do you work and/or live . . .

I did grad studies at CUNY in the 1990s . . . I lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn and taught at Queens College

I agree they are messing with us. Yesterday while I was adding the XBox games I wanted to my cart before they dropped to $4.99, I also added a GBA video which was $1.99 at the time. They had over 100 in stock. Literally the second the XBox games dropped to $4.99, the GBA video dissapeared and they other $1.99 videos dissapeared off of the site. It's annoying but I guess it's better for them to play games like this than to not have these deals at all.

Hey schultzed, actually, I work in midtown and live in Queens. And I thought CheapyD was the only other CAG member from NYC. This is sort of like CheapyD's thread a while ago about a CAG meetup.

Yes, even my quota theory does NOT explain why they do the drops day after day. It would make sense to do it once, and have them return permanantly to full price once you sold a bunch off. Even stretching to think of weird business-logic and computer-system-logic (jobs DO help you in real life!!), I don't see the benefit of this daily cycle. Does lend credence to those who think they're tormenting us. 8)

And man, I'll be bummed if today is the day it ends for the GBA videos.

I think they do it because they want people to sit on there site all day refreshing the site and browsing and maybe hoping that we will add something else to our carts besides the cheap temporary price drops.

Well, like a lot of people have been suggesting, EB is going to be swallowed by GS soon, so why not generate as much site traffic as possible and just attempt some sort of last ditch liquidation.

Could this be the end of the drops perhaps?? MP2 and LOZ haven't dropped yet today either. As I recall from the Rumble Roses drops, the game usually drops around the same time every day, until they sell out or stop doing the drop for the game. :(

I left NYC in 1995 . . . now live in Wisconsin . . . between Milwaukee and Chicago.

Do you ever go the "Game Trade Center" a small game shop near South Street Seaport or "Video Gamesters" on 6th Ave just above the Village?

Those were my favorite game stores in the 90s.

I think Rumble Roses had slightly different times. Sometimes it was in the late morning/early afternoon (EST) and then I remember it didn't drop once or twice until the late afternoon.

Wow it's been a long time, nope, quite honestly, never heard of either one. I'm an ebayer now, like if I can get it for cheap on ebay, I do it that way and have never had a problem. I only buy games for less than $20 retail now. I have yet to pay over $20 for any game in the past 3 years.
For instance, at this point there are 99 copies of F-Zero in stock at $30 . . . when it drops to $5 . . . they will "sell out" in minutes.

But from what we can see . . . maybe 5 people will get in on it . . .

Let's say someone is going to resell them on ebay . . . who would order more than 10?

It used to be with these drops that after you ordered you could watch the stock evaporate over time . . . but these are happening too fast to be real.

They're messing with us.
How do you check how many is in stock?

add 150 copies to you cart, if there are over 100, it will adjust the amount to 100. If it's less than 100, it will adjust to how many copies are in stock.

Yeah, things were tough before the internet and ebay.

The guy who ran the Game Trade Center was very cool.

He would sell a used $50 game for about $35 . . . and if you brought that same game back in two or three weeks he would give you $25 in credit for it.

It was a good way to get SNES games back in the day.

Plus, unlike Funcoland (which I hated), he placed a premium on games being complete . . . so, a cart only game would sell for much less and he wouldn't give you much for it.

Funcoland promoted the throwing away of boxes and instructions in that era.

I hear ya, the mom and pop shops of the 90's were great... and games were still $50 too which is funny considering inflation. I never liked funcoland either, then again I never traded with them. The best hit I got was selling my Streets of Rage 3 like new (and when I say like new I mean it's practically just missing the shrink wrap!) just last year on ebay and made $64 dollars off that. I was surprised why it was still going for so high.

In case folks aren't following the Sale thread, the online link to vouchers are up.

I just ordered Getaway Black Monday for $20 (used my old Hot Shots Fore to get it free) and will use the $20 voucher for a future sale.

Anybody know if they do these kind of drops on weekends as well? I want to know how close I need to stay to my computer tomorrow morning.
Anybody know if they do these kind of drops on weekends as well? I want to know how close I need to stay to my computer tomorrow morning.
I've never seen it happen on a weekend but I could be wrong.

Almost got my Four Swords order overnighted... shipped 3 Day Select via UPS last night, but I think it's gonna sit in the UPS drop 20 minutes away till tomorrow. That's a shame.

Meanwhile, Metroid Prime 2 ordered two days before is in limbo somewhere in western PA right now after shipping out of Philly... damn USPS.
Welcome to the board, the website and B&M stores are completely different. No, the prices are not valid in stores.
Thanks man... Glad to be here with all y'all cheap asses...

Now to find a Valkyrie Profile Strategy guide so i could play it without any fuss over things...

Strangely the tracking number for my UPS shipment is no longer accessible. Anyone else have this problem - wonder if its something with their database or if my shipment is screwed up. I saw it earlier today marked as leaving the (probably) nearest UPS station at 9pm last night, but nothing today.

awwww man!

someone hit me up when metroid 2, four swords and MGS3 go back down to to 14.99!!!!!!

---hew wow i'm finally considered a cheapass regular, i wonder what it took for that to happen, a certain amount of posts?
---hew wow i'm finally considered a cheapass regular, i wonder what it took for that to happen, a certain amount of posts?
Yeah...the rankings are based on your number of posts (up until 1000, when you can pick a custom title), not how long you've been a member.

Damn! I had Syphon Filter and Mortal Kombat in my cart and they both got pulled! There's still a ton of Ping Pals left though. =(
These available at B&M also?
Almost assuredly not. I mean, the games should be available, but not at these prices.
