I just had max payne 2 in my cart along with dark angel, both had like 85 in stock. A SECOND later, right when I went to check out, it said, your cart is empty! Did some hoarder come by, or is it just a ton of ppl trying to buy at once?

Most likely a hoarder as they both dropped by large numbers at the same time. Or EB took them off the site. Sometimes it seems like EB likes to play games with us on these things. They'll both most likely be back tomorrow, so just try again then.

I don't think it's a hoarder. I wouldn't think the profits vs. time & energy to sell these particular games on ebay ratio is that high. Most likely, ebgames pulled them in order to keep people glued to their website.

I don't think it is unreasonable for a mom & pop store owner to buy these games in large quantities though. Especially if they have multiple stores. You could probably sell the Dark Angels for $5 and the Max Paynes for at least $7-$10 in a B&M store where people don't know any better. If you sold enough of them, you would make a decent profit. So if it's a hoarder, that's my explanation.

Possibly, but I would think that even mom & pop stores would constantly focus on new games, not ones that have been around for a little while. But, hey, what do I know?

i know a few game trader shops that buy all they can cause all they need is 1 trade and they have the money right back and a game

say like that Lord of the rings is the same level of a game you got. you give them your game for LOTR and 9 bucks for trading. SO they got their money back + they got your old game

Most mom & pop stores get their deals from people that trade in games and console without knowing their actual value.

Case in point ...

I watched a guy trade in a working PS2 with an intact warranty seal and ask for only $30 cash.

Is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence supposed to come out at a discount price ( hopefully $20) like Substance did, or is it going to sell higher? If it is, I might have to buy the $15 MGS3, but I think I'll pass if Subsistence is $20.

I ordered a few things (MK: D, Dark Angel, Secret of the Silver Earing (PC, 99 cents)) yesterday, using the three day shipping code. I wasn't sure if three day shipping included Saturday delivery or not, so I went to UPS and found that the estimated delivery date is the 25th (Monday). I had hoped it would come sooner, but not a big deal. However, I clicked "View package progress" to find out where it was shipped from, and it turns out that it already arrived in Nashville, and is out for delivery today. Woohoo, overnight delivery!

I'm surprised not many more people got in on MP2 back when EB had it for $20 with the $20 voucher (=free). It's a decent game on Xbox, much better on PC. Anyone get Dark Angel yet? How is it? Craptastic or maybe worth the $5?

I don't think it is a hoarder and Syphon Filter would be a great example . . . its a crappy game and barely worth $5 . . . buying even 10 of them would make no sense.

It has to be a case that EB has some index of actual numbers to be sold at discount. So, while they have many in stock . . . only 5 were put on clearance today . . . something like that.

I'd say you should avoid it like the plague... I got a copy for around $2 during the 90% off TRU green tag sale. I can forgive the crappy graphics if the gameplay was alright but the controls are so sloppy... not to mention, it's repetitive.

I ended up shovelling my copy to EB during the $5 bonus days.

For $5, it's not too much of a risk to buy it and try it out yourself... but IMO, it's not worth it unless you're a Dark Angel or Jessica Alba fan.

Alright, so I guess I'm set for the rest of the summer... unless EB has some crazy price drop coming soon. None of the games left interest me and I've had my fill of great games for cheap over the past couple of weeks (months). I have enough AA to AAA titles to play til the xbox 360 drops in price! :razz:

You might be set for the rest of the summer but after frequenting CAG for the past couple of years, I've come to realize the deals never cease to end... so even though you may think you are "set," you and I will no doubt be picking up even more games once the next great deal comes along.
