How do I get those sticky yellow EB stickers off my case?
Buy a bottle of Goo Gone. They're usually $5 or less. They last forever and are a good purchase if you buy lots of used games. You can find them at drug stores or places like Wal Mart.

When is the EBgames morning update?
Usually between 7am and 7:30am eastern time, Monday through Friday. There are no updates on some holidays.

How do I know the update happened?
The number of in stock games will drop to zero, then rise back up. This takes less than a minute.

I had game X in my cart, but it disappeared while I was checking out. What happened?
Someone else beat you to it. Just because an item is in your cart, doesn't mean it's reserved for you until you finish checking out.

How do you know how many copies of game X are in stock?
When the item is in your cart, change the quantity to a large number (like 99). When the page refreshes, the quantity will be reduced to the number available.

Are there any coupons I could use to save money?
CAG15 gives you 15% off used merchandise.
CAG16 gives you 16% off $50 or more worth of used merchandise.
SAVER gives you free shipping on orders containing used games and accessories. For some reason, Gameboy games do not work with SAVER.

Shoot, don't tell me stuff like this . . . I have a sealed one (GH) that I picked up at GameCrazy 11/2 years ago . . . should have gotten a couple. I got it cuz it was $10. But I really don't have the patience for RPGs, so I haven't opened it . . . knowing I can get $50 for it makes it hard to hold on to.
 
Looks like there's been a lot of price increases on older games all platforms and a few decreases - seems to be matching up to Game Stop.
 
They're not updating out of a different time zone now, are they?

I know EB was based in Philadelphia, but where is GS?

Just wondering if the morning update might make a permanent shift to a later hour.

GS is in Texas, I believe. If they move it up to 8, that would work since I'll be at work then, but 7:30 is rough for me.
 
yesterday was the first time they did at 8 after new year's. the days leading up to yesterday it was at 7:30. hopefully they'll come up with a fixed time soon so we don't have to wait a half hour everyday.
 
maybe I'm going to sound like an idiot here... but, there's 9 pre-owned guitar hero in stock, gitaroo man, the tekken 5 fighting stick bundle, all for PS2 in stock... are we sure it didn't update?
 
Rough morning... lost Persona at the gift card screen, only to come back, see Lufia II, and then lose that at the gift card screen as well. Wonderful way to begin the weekend =(
 
Expect Megaman X3 to be back in stock sometime soon, I entered the wrong CC info and I had to cancel the order. Costs too much, anyway.

Hopefully my complete $30 Guitar Hero will arrive today (fingers crossed). Funny, that main day that we ordered it there was great debate about whether it would arrive complete and they were instock for 15 min. Today, our hoarder jumped in and bought them all the remaining ones in a flash.
 
the only reason i'd pick up a guitar hero in this thread is for the second controller.. which is only 40 anyways.. and since everyone is grabbing them up right at update i'll just get a sweet red second controller from red octane instead.. heh.. i guess i don't want to wake up at 5 in the morning just to miss out on it for really only a 10 dollar difference.. ah well..

Thanks. Good luck with your closing. Ill probably still get it, since I have some credit. Im sure it will be my last game purchase for a while though. As Home Depot and Menards will be taking all my money now.
 
Dang! I just got my Dreamcast and try to get it to work, but it won't. I check the AV cables and it seems that someone at EBgames switched the DC cables with PS2 ones. Now I have to wait to play some more power stone 2 :(
 
Alone in the Dark for Dreamcast finally arrived. Disc 2 is defective; won't boot. Thanks for nothing EB. This is the third Dreamcast game you've sold me that is broken, and the third time I have to drive 30 miles to my nearest EB to get my store credit, as opposed to actual refund.

you don't have to drive. you can mail the game back. you should have a return label that comes in your package.

Of course, and I can shell out $4 or more to ship the damn thing to them. That's half the price of the game itself. It makes more sense just to hand it to to a clerk directly next time I'm in town. They always put up a fight, but I always show them the rules on the back of the packing slip. I have yet to meet an EB clerk that knows their own god damn store policies...

Plus things always get lost in the mail. This is the only sure fire way to get reimbursed.

hmm, yeah i guess you're right. i thought return postage was paid but it's not. that's kinda crappy. well i dunno how often you go into town but you do have a month to return the game. i've received defective games before too but the awesome deals i get during the update more than make up for a trip now and then to my local EB. of course, i have two stores within 10-15 mins from me so it's not as much of a problem.
come to think of it i actually have like 3 or 4 games i need to return..

Call them up, explain the problem and they will send out a prepaid mailer . . . at least they used to (I've done 2 mail returns, but it's been awhile).

I know how you feel. Of the 4 dreamcast games I've ordered from them only one has worked. 2 of them were completely unbootable.

You can send them an email on the site too if you want the prepaid envelope. I did this early in december so hopefully they're still doing it.
