FAQ:
How do I get those sticky yellow EB stickers off my case?
Buy a bottle of Goo Gone. They're usually $5 or less. They last forever and are a good purchase if you buy lots of used games. You can find them at drug stores or places like Wal Mart.

The bottle looks like this:

When is the EBgames morning update?
Usually between 7am and 7:30am eastern time, Monday through Friday. There are no updates on some holidays.

How do I know the update happened?
The number of in stock games will drop to zero, then rise back up. This takes less than a minute.

I had game X in my cart, but it disappeared while I was checking out. What happened?

Someone else beat you to it. Just because an item is in your cart, doesn't mean it's reserved for you until you finish checking out.

How do you know how many copies of game X are in stock?
When the item is in your cart, change the quantity to a large number (like 99). When the page refreshes, the quantity will be reduced to the number available.

Are there any coupons I could use to save money?
CAG15 gives you 15% off used merchandise.
CAG16 gives you 16% off $50 or more worth of used merchandise.
SAVER gives you free shipping on orders containing used games and accessories. For some reason, Gameboy games do not work with SAVER.
Overall quality of my purchases went way down. Games littered with seven or more stickers, carts having really poor labels, CDs that look like someone took sandpaper to the face, multi-disc games only coming with a single CD, and one out of every ten or so games coming with anything (back cover, manual, etc.).

Not enough to dissuade me from buying since I can easily get covers and print them out and the like, but man, the game conditions are really dropping.
They certainly are. I've stopped ordering from "EB", after my last 4 orders have either been in horrible condition or incorrect. It's as if EB has somehow turned into GS. :whistle2:\"

Well, it is coming, the inevitable . . . I guess I'll burn out the $300 in credit I have left and call it the end of an era.

My copy of dropship united force was in the open order status for almost a month, at first I thought it was a mistake in inventory or something so I waited it out. When I saw it pop up again and my order still stayed the same, I finally wrote an email. After 4 days for a reply I sent another email, finally reaching someone.

That's weird, my last 5 orders all came complete, which is rare for me. four complete ps1 games and 1 dc game, even though my Jet Grind Radio didn't work.

I havent had as good luck as Neaty, but it hasnt been bad. About half the PS1 games I order come complete, and the discs arent in bad shape. Please try and remember that they are USED, and they usually state may or may not come with case and instructions. EB is nowhere near GS yet, not in my opinion anyways. They get business from me at least once a day and will until something major changes.

My DC did come broken, but like someone already pointed out these are used games and old ones at that. As long as they work, I can't really see why you can complain. Where else can you get them at the price?

AHHHHH, missed Valkyrie Profile again today....damnit.

Edit: Almost got to the CC page before it was taken from my cart. I guess thats what I get for having to remove another game from my cart.

It got pulled right after the credit card page for me. Oh, well, I got Vanguard Bandits as a consolation though.

Another 3 game order...another three game disk only...and Video Rental stickers on all three. I'll probably keep them, being that they were only 1.99 games. i can download covers for them.

I think we've reached the end of our fellowship EBGames.com:cry:
thousand arms, 19.99
not only a price drop of $10, but often sells out within seconds. you guys are SLOW! Plus, my copy came minty complete several months ago -- it's always possible.

Definitely a hoarder jumping in on many of these games. There were 5 of these left after I ordered one (right after your post). Then they just vanished.

Oh well.

these are very easy to get around here for 14.99 if you wanted them (and wanted to do the work) and you know they would come complete..

1. get a white level game cheap (yu gi oh for ps1 is white)
2. take it to mcvans
3. Trade the game for Thousand arms + 7 bucks

so for around 12 bucks or so (figure 15 after gas and tax) you could have a complete game ... and i dont see why a hoarder would grab them since they dont even make 20 on ebay i dont think

Its just interesting that things get posted and then sell very, very quickly. Without people saying . . . I got one . . .

Not much games I want anymore.. the pawn shop dropped all game prices to 8 bucks so i've been scoping out there instead of the update thread.. just got Super Smash Bros Melee for 8 bucks and Firefighter FD 18 (which went on ebay for 40) for 10 .. so yeah.. I got most of the cheap XB games I wanted anyways..
Finally got the first of my 4 orders. Tales of Destiny came disc only :( . Heres hoping everything else comes in complete condition. ;)
Nope mine arrived yesterday disc only.

Just wondering, but have people been receiving games as of late with somewhat similar, odd marks on them? I got Strider 2 (well, actually just Strider, but that's another issue) and Spin Jam from the morning update and both discs are covered with what looks like a white, powdery substance akin to drywall or spackle on the outer edges of the face of the disc. Thankfully, it seems more like a cosmetic issue than anything else, but I found it quite odd when I went to two other EBs over the past few days and all of the copies I found of Spin Jam and a few other games have the same odd condition. I've never seen anything like this on the used games before...

In addition, in looking at some of the PS1 games I've gotten recently, the edges on the underside of the discs look highly off in comparison to others. I don't know how best to describe it but it seems as if the edges are a bit trimmed, so to speak, as if the edges cave into the disc rather than being flat like other discs. Normally I wouldn't really care but I checked all of my other PS1 games from the morning updates and haven't seen anything else like this. And, to top it off, the few games I have with these bevelled edges (primarily Spin Jam, Star Gladiator) either have major loading issues (where the PS2 is struggling to attempt to read the game [shows up as an audio CD 1/3 times you try and load]) or simply refuse to play.

Just wondering if I should give up or, since these particular titles are cheap and somewhat available, if I should just find a copy in local EBs, buy them with the guarantee for an extra $1, and simply exchange the ones that don't work for either credit or another copy of the game. Then I can just toss the extra one (that I still paid for) to a friend or something.

Uhm that substance is disc conditioner. It's used to resurface the discs. Lately I've been getting a lot of discs like that.

Well I'm 1 for 4 in getting "might not include box or manual" games. The only complete game, other than my Phoenix Wright, was Toy Commander (a nice surprise). I was a little dissappointed in Gunstar Super Heroes, especially after seeing 2 copies at my local Target yesterday. I may go back and pick up both copies and keep one sealed, just for the hell of it.
My Evolution copy for the DC came mint.
is that game worth anything.. i got part 1 and part 2 sealed on DC

i think it would be easier just to go to gamestop webpage and look up VP... call a store and get it to transfer to a store near you... that is how i got my complete one for 50

if the update dont happen in the next 5 mins i give up for the day

with the meijers santa bucks and the TRU sale tomorrow

those two things are better then any update

Not driving an hour just for Valkyrie Profile. I'll let it come to me, unless I see it while in am out on Friday.

Closest GS is about 45 minutes to an hour away.

well im out.... i hope both of these things work today

going to try to get Best buy to take Meijers Santa bucks (They did last year)

then riunning to TRU to grab a few games for people here (hopefully real sale tomorrow)
I hope its not another 10 am update
Same here, as I would most likely miss it due to sleeping. Tomorrow will most likely be my last update of the year, unless Friday is an early one, as I plan to hit stores bright and early Friday, before the punks and assholes hit them.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up. I've never resurfaced any discs before myself because most of mine are either pristine or they just plain work, so I was a bit confused. Too bad the finished product ends up having problems on my end, though. Thanks!
