My Xbox Live Gold is done tomorrow. I'll be playing NBA 2k7, Crackdown, Splinter Cell DA, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and GRAW on the 360. Going for achievements.

On Gamecube I'll be playing Resident Evil 4, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and Mario Strikers.

Resident Evil 4 Wii looks pretty damn good. I've had the GC version for about two years and haven't played it yet. Guess I should get rid of the GC one and pick up the Wii version.
That's exactly my situation. And I just posted over in the Wii thread that this version apparently secretly supports the Cube controller if you hate the Wii aiming, so that should sway anyone on the fence.

Whats the point of buying the Wii version if you're going to use a GC controller?

In other news, I finally got the "fish" organism in flOw. I haven't played this "game" in awhile. Anyone know how and when it saves?

480p
True widescreen support
PS2 extras with the above enhancements
Better sounding

I generally want to play the best looking / sounding games I can - GC version is nice, but it lacks the PS2 extras (which are great), the PS2 version is a mess with less enemies on screen, worse sound, worse graphics, worse everything. This is the ultimate RE 4 right here.

Also, the Wii controls may end up making the game too easy, or may not be for everyone after they try them.

I'm glad they are allowing the GC controller in there rather than forcing people to play it through with the remote if they don't want to.

Those are all very nice.

I just don't think I could spend my money on a port, on a system full of ports. It shows companies they can be lazy, and not have to make original games.

Even though the game is fantastic, to me, it seems too soon to port over the game, especially when such a similar version is already playable on the Wii.

$18.99 at Buy.com with GCO, and I'm selling both my GC + PS2 versions on Ebay - I will get more than enough to cover the cost of the new one ;)

I wouldn't spend my own money either, but this is just too easy to pass up.

YEAAAAHH!!!!

Ejaculatory response!!!! This is awesome news. I'll give the Wii controls a shot, but it's good to know that no matter what, this is the absolute best version of the game.

On a less happy note: I have to go back to Best Buy. I picked up Super Paper Mario but it's the Canadian version. French is all over the back of it and presumably in the manual. Now I know it's minor, but I have some decency, so it's going back immediately. What an annoyance.
Keep on Flow'in.

Didn't you sell your PS3?
Yes. Waiting for the check to clear.

I'll pick another up when LBP hits.

I need to back up my PS3 HDD to my PC HDD.

Every copy is like that.

My SPM has like 3 different languages on the back.

Finally got a copy of Castlevania Chronicles and I got both of the games I was debating between. Sorry for the picture's lame-bot quality. My camera is on speed methinks.

Oh, good! Glad to see playz came through for you on the Castlevania game. I hope to get Mario Time Warp for the PS1 soon from him. $500 well spent.

If you still haven't opened SPM and want it cheaper, I'm selling mine. But I understyand the desire for wanting a brand new game as well. Enjoy it! Super game! :)

Yeah, I always get my shit new because I'm just that way. What is that way? No idea... probably insecure or something. Oh well. Anyway, I'm not playing any of these since Rogue Galaxy is too important, so they've been shelved for now.

As for Castlevania... $60 for this new copy. Which is obviously a lot, but it's more fun than most next gen games that would cost me $60 and I like Castlevania enough to justify it.

More importantly, on IGN, I can see my entire wish list without scrolling down. Granted, I'm using a 24" widescreen monitor at 1920 X 1200 resolution, so that might be cheating, but yeah. I'm getting there.

I can't buy used games unless I'm able to thoroughly inspect them before I purchase them.

In other words, I don't buy used games on eBay. I always have to shell out for the cellophane.

Nice Pickup. I got Outrun 2006 today for $10 at the EB sale. (waiting to find a PSP cheap enough to play it on)

And Both Oracle of Ages/Seasons games for GBC complete ($10 each) + a complete silent hill 1 (Basically even trade for Indigo Prophecy PS2)

Not gonna lie, all of those in the second sentence are going on ebay to support PSP fund.

I find some good things at this local store that lets you simply trade items. For example, they sell Indigo Prophecy for $15, so I could get anything that's $15 in the store, and pay a $2 "trade fee" which works really well.

Jer, it'd be full price, but if you're looking for a new PSP that would be easy to install the custom firmware on, the stores are jammed with them here. I'm not sure if that's a rarity or if they are indeed everywhere at the moment.

Anyway, I was cleaning up my game stuff today (Mom-in-Law coming for the weekend!) and I had a lot of controller strewn about the living room, I thought, why not gather the input devices that would fit (DDR and GHII excluded) on the table and take a family photo! Here it is:

input.jpg

Of special note is the USB end to the NES controller. I have an adapter for the Genesis ones and the PSX to go into USB too. So, I guess the middle row is my legacy controller row that are rarely, if ever, used on the system they were intended for.

I thought I had a wired 360 controller around here somewhere for a while ago, but I'ev never been able to find it since I got my 360...

Yeah, I know a new one would be easier, but $170 is more than I want to spend on one. That same local store is selling used ones for $100 (when they come in) so the $70 difference is too much to pass up.

If I don't get one from there by my birthday I'll probably buy a new one with gift money/ask for one.

only $60 for sealed Castlevania Chronicles? Nice find. I thought it would be much more for sure considering it's pretty rare. glad you finally found it.

I'm downloading what is supposedly the warhawk beta right now...we'll see how this pans out. I'm gonna dork it up and game tonight, if I can stay awake.

Was I the only one who thought TR:L was full blown AIDs?

God of War II held me over for about a weekend, hopefully Burnout Revenge for the 360 lasts a bit longer.

The picture above shows (sorta) something I've been trying to figure out. Anyone have a decent way to keep the handhelds neatly stored and charged? I thought about getting docking cradles for the all three, but that doesn't seem liek it would be any neater than just ahving them strewn about. I'd like to avoid letting any third-party power adapters coming near them, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I loved Tomb Raider Legend.

On the other hand, I couldn't make myself play God of War 2 and sold it ASAP. For some reason, it just felt too repetitive.

And daroga, I just keep my handhelds in a drawer or a case, out of view..
Was I the only one who thought TR:L was full blown AIDs?
It was sub-par.

I didn't think it was worth finishing, so I just traded it in.

IMG_1122.jpg

This was my solution. Can you see it well? No? Exactly. Basically, I stacked the PSP and the DS and had one power cable going off to the left and the other going off to the right (for symmetry.) I put both systems at the back of a desk by the wall so that the cord is a non-issue

I've never heard a game described as being full-blown aids. But it did make me laugh.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is surpringsly fun.

Too bad it's so short, but I want to go back through and play as a magic user and an archery / stealthy type guy.

You know a game has good replayability when you are already thinking of how things will be different with a different character during your first runthrough.

agreed on that. there's normal repetition and then there's "I'd rather scratch my ass with a metal fork" repetition. GoW2 was the latter.

in chaos, there is order. don't try this at home if you aren't single.

underneath the PSP is my reminder to send in a check to the electric company.

You play video games and masturbate to Internet porn surf the 'net at your dinner table?

Same thing happened with me. GoW2 was just like the first one. I dont know if I even made it halfway through GoW2 before getting sick of it.

I beat TR:L though and enjoyed it a lot.

I have a tiny studio, so my dinner table is my desk/mastu..paper writing area. can't wait to move to a bigger place this fall...I have to much crap and not enough storage/legit furniture to have any semblance of a clean apartment.

Just got finished with an hour of 480p gaming. Wee! Luckily Godfather looks better than cable on my new TV. :whistle2:( Now that I've had my fun with that, back to 480i Rogue Galaxy!

Cable not looking too hot? I came to a realization on my TV that if I go to a channel like 7.1, I'll get the HD version of the channel... which looks great. Not sure if that'll work for you or if you'd have to spring to get a cable box to get HD cable, but yeah.

I'll survive and get used to it soon enough, no biggie. This TV was more of a long-term purchase, don't plan on replacing it until it dies. If I need a 50" 1080p TV for gaming in a couple years, I'll get that for the game room.

Strangely, the Wii menus looked worse than I recall them (text was crisp, Miis were more jaggy), while the game looked pretty slick.

Currently playing Condemned.

I want to play this but I don't have a psone memory card. It's the only psone game I have and I've never been able to pass it.

For those interested, Tomb Raider Anniversary got an 8.0 from IGN... well, the PC version at least. I'd post a link to the review, but it's not actually up yet... just the score.

Yargh. Anniversary is a hard game to score. I liked Legend more, but that was because of the action and story. I can't fault the developers for not including either of those things in Anniversary -- it's a remake. If Crystal Dynamics and Eidos had Lara fighting ninjas or something, I'd have to be upset that they changed everything.

In the end, this is Tomb Raider for better or worse. The controls are light-years better than the original but still aren't solid like Prince of Persia's; the graphics are beyond anything the original could muster and kick the crud out of the PS2 version; and the puzzles are just as tough as the original, but the enemies are just as lame.

Still, it's hard to find a videogame feeling as good as solving a Tomb Raider puzzle that's stumped you for the past half-hour. If you're a Croft fan or someone looking to get into this franchise, this title -- at $30 price point -- is worth raiding your piggy bank for.

I told you I was witty.

Anyway, it seems that the game turned out really well, though the focus is definitely more on exploration in this game (which I actually like the sound of.) I'll suck it up and buy this at $30 since it's not that much money.

Interesting. Once I chew through a little bit more of my backlog, I think I'm gonna get Legend for the 360. I like the demo quite a bit. I wonder what the chances of them not botching the Wii version of Anniversary are.
