Fable II - Gen Discussion & Info
if you got a pro/elite, install it on your 360 and it'll be MUCH better....
Thanks. This helped WAY more than I thought it would. The game is infinitely less annoying now.
I have level 3 of that slow down time power...it slows down the timer as well...I figure I can get perfect doing that. I had the most trouble with the level before the troll.
When you use time control it slows down the time displayed but it still counts the true time it takes for you to defeat the troll. Don't know if they did anything to that in the patch.

So I'm down to needing just the Reaver and Lucien Dolls now. It's really annoying having to get these dolls. I just wish someone would lend them to me for like...5 seconds, then I'd send them back.
just finished knothole island.. anyone know where to find the second knothole book?
When you're first coming up the path from the dock, go off to the left to the graveyard area and poke around there. Book II is hidden somewhere back there.
Do you need to play Fable on Xbox to enjoy this game or is it a completely separate game and story?
I suppose it might help, but I never played the original and I had loads of fun playing Fable II.

I never played the original and I'm loving it.

I never played the original and I like this one. Although I suppose you could say
it's got a case of the Zelda's, aka pretty much the same story every time
.

Could someone please help me get the books "Murgo's Big Book of Trading" and "Marriage and How to Survive It"? I'm willing to pay up to 50 million gold pieces for them. I can't find them, I've tried resting 7 days and going back PLENTY of times and it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seperate game/story. Same land, different time periods and characters.

Really, that is weird. I think I've come across both of those books 3 or 4 times each. I'll see if I can help you out this afternoon, first let me check my inventory.

I don't need the cash, but if you have any of those dolls for the dollcatcher achievement I could go for that.
Do you need to play Fable on Xbox to enjoy this game or is it a completely separate game and story?
There are a number of allusions to the story from the first game and a bunch of jokes and other things you won't get unless you've played the first game. Most of that is seperate from the main story so even if you haven't played the first you won't feel like you're missing anything.
What's the reason for needing those books?
For the shop of secrets on Knothole Island I think. You have to trade them to get the items and there's an achievement for getting all the items in the shop.
What's the reason for needing those books?
Yeah, those are the only items I need for the secret shop achievement in the new DLC.

If someone has found all the books on Knothole Island I could use help with that achievement as well.

"Marriage..." is available from the Jewelry stand in front of the Bar (Cow and Corset?) in Bowerstone Market.

"Murgo's..." can be purchased or found on the shelves at the Bowerstone Market bookstore (although it's appearance is random) or amongst the bookshelves in Bloodstone Mansion.

Ok, I'll give those places a check. Thanks

Hey, I have a few hundred thousand gold on a couple of different characters, and I was wondering if there is any way to give it all to my current character that I just started. Either by using Pub Games or if I can just give all the money to someone using one character and then come back with my other character and have them send it back to me.

I found the Marriage book, but no luck on Murgos Trading Book. If anyone could help me out with this that would be awesome.

Ok. I need help with the Ruler of Albion achievement. I can't find anything else to buy! I've got 700k gold (Franky - I gave all that gold to my wife since I didn't want to cheat myself out of earning that achievement. :) I did get the Philanthropist achievement by trading with you, though) and I've bought up all of Bowerstone, Bowerstone Old Town, Bloodstone, Oakfield, the Gypsy camp. All that is only 1.2 million. What else can I buy? None of those have any "big ticket" buildings, right? The most expensive things I've bought are the bars for about 60k or so.

Buy Fairfax Mansion and the mansion in the graveyard.

Eh... the game is fairly easy. Only thing to say is that if you don't want to worry about money ever, buy property early. Easy.

... so, I was playing the DLC yesterday, and the more I think about it, I'd really like Fable 3 to go back to the time period of the first game. Might just be me.

I finished the storyline yesterday, and there's not much left to do except doing some of the smaller side quests. I'm going wait until Knothole gets cheaper before I get it.

Tips:
Depending on your style of fighting (melee or range), get yourself a good weapon. Buy the best from the vendors/store if you have too. A good weapon makes your battle easier for you.

Making money is easy in the game. Just take a job (blacksmith, woodchopping, and bartending) and you can make good money in no time. Personally, I feel blacksmith takes too much time to make money, so I would suggest doing woodchopping until bartending opens up later in the game.
I'm considering starting this game tonight. Tips for a first-timer?
Have orbs set to everyone then beg for gold and weapons in Bowerstone Marketplace. :D

anyone know the easiest way to the get the sharpshooter achievement? I've been trying to kill the hobbes and hollowmen but i can never get them to line up.

I did it by spamming the fire button over and over again blindly. I got it somehow. Maybe one bullet ricocheted the first bullet into 2 other guys. It's random luck. Oh, and if you're looking to get The Duelist, that does not require strikes against an enemy, thus making it really easy.

I got it in one of the hollowman levels in the Crucible. Not aiming I just hit Y and 3 of them died and I got the it lol.
I can't beat the shooting gallery to save my life.
Always go for the headshot. Take a second to line it up, it's worth the extra points. Should be easy once you can hit them consistently. :D

i will try with the hollowmen again, people seem to have the most luck with this achievement killing them.

Since i already beat the game and the temple of shadows is destroyed does that mean I can no longer enter to hit the gargoyle inside?

Don't forget the either the Temple of Light or the Temple of Shadows depending on
whether you did the Defender of the Light or Massacre of Oakfield quest...you can only buy one.
Also the Brightwood Tower.

Just starting the game today and I'll probably go for all the achievements. Or most of them. The doll one and completionist (considering you need pub games xbla) just look annoying.

Other than the Executioner what other ones can you miss by closing off areas due to the story? And can I just start collecting gargoyles and keys after Ive beaten the game? Or are some missable

No, you can still enter the temple.

If you miss Executioner, you could join someone else game and watch them do it. You can started collecting key and gargoyles after the main quest they are not missable.

how do you enter the temple? When I get to the door it's locked.

If anyone is doing the executioner achievement, please add me I didn't know you could miss it if you have already completed the game.

How the hell do I kill the gargoyles? I hear them but I never see them.

Also, that one where you have to sacrifice 10 people in the temple of shadows. I've sacrificed 10 people but it didn't unlock. Come to think of it, the quest where you've got to sacrifice a person didn't get completed either. What gives?

Gargoyles are usually above you when you hear them...they're statues on the buildings or walls, just shoot them with a ranged weapon...they break in one shot.

I thought they might be those statues, but when I shoot them nothing ever happens. Maybe I'm not doing it quickly enough?

They don't move...so just one shot takes them down. Maybe your accuracy skill isn't good enough yet, or you're not packing a strong enough weapon...not sure, I've been able to shoot them since the first time I saw them. Not sure if the arrows work, I'm using a rifle.
so anyone wanna tell me how to enter the temple of shadows?
You have to finish "A bridge too far" quest and the Temple of shadows will have someone at the gate. Go thru the initiation and the gate will open.

I only have 4 Dolls, but I have the Dollcatcher Achievement. I have Hammer, Garth, Hero and Theresa. I have extra Garth/Hero dolls.

I also have 1100/1100, so...yeah. Time to go get 1000/1000 in Tomb Raider Underworld.

i was thinking of picking this up, but some of the reviews have put me off. i have heard there are lots of bugs, and couple that with not knowing if its really for me, makes me not sure.

i haven't played fable 1 but this game looks good. i haven't played many rpg's, but i liked overlord, and this looks similar in concept. should i pick it up and give it a spin? how is the resale?

I was in the same boat as you about 2-3 weeks ago, and I bought it used for $35 and it is TOTALLY worth it. You'll love it, I haven't encountered any huge game crashing bugs.

I don't know if it was just my copy being dirty, but it seemed to be kinda skippy at the beginning until I installed it. During the opening where you kill the beetles, it kept locking onto the guy in the window instead of the bugs. Weird.

All is well once I installed it.
