Fallout New Vegas CE 29.99 at Gamestop

xandez1

CAGiversary!
Hey folks, I hope this hasn't already been posted, but I just picked up Fallout New Vegas Collectors Edition at Gamestop for $29.99. Possibly YMMV. This included both 360 and PS3 versions. Cheers!

Just found out it's not YMMV, but they're unavailable online so check your local stores. Mine here in Brandon, FL still had two of each left. Looks like this includes PC as well.
I remember when Final Fantasy 12 CE at Gamestop. They told me it was sealed and I took a closer look. They did a alright job resealing it, but had a funny feeling that it wasn't factory sealed. I end up not making the purchase.

What is a gutted copy? I saw Growlancer LE on the shelf with tape that says Gutted Copy.
Basically, it's like the guts of the package have been removed,
Frank Castle-style.

grr cant find a ps3 version anywhere. I checked online and the local one actually STILL shows it has the ps3 version in stock, despite the guy telling me they didn't when i went in.. im wondering if i should go back and check again.. though i dont know what esle i can do. Maybe request they look in the back?

I checked avaialbility near me and found 2 stores. I went to the first one and got it and called the second store. The second store said oh so sorry sold it yesterday, I said thanks but its still showing up as in stock. Yep its sold. I went in the next day and asked, and they had only been holding it for someone in a cabinet. So I got a second copy to open. So yes check back if it still says in stock, they are holding it for themselvees or a customer.

Alright. Either the guys at the GS I stopped at the other day hid the PS3 copy from me or their website's stock locator still blows. It's still showing IN stock at the store I hit the other day.:bomb:

will bite on this again. all stores showing as in stock around my area.

i have a 360 copy since launch day, but ill buy another one to open and keep this one sealed. i LOVE fallout

Can anyone comment on the quality of the extra items it comes with? Specifically the chips, coin and cards? I'm wondering if it's worth getting for the extras and selling the game since I already own it. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me sku for pc version of FO3 CE? Not new Vegas version but original FO3 CE. Trying to see if I might luck out and pick both CEs up! :)
Thanks

The chips are A+++ quality.
The coin is A+++.
The Cards....I didn't open yet.
The art book is A+++.
I took a closer look and notice that there are tiny little holes all over in the front of the box when hold against the light ( No tiny holes in the back) . The sealed lines runs from the bottom to the left side to the top and then stops.
There is no sealed light on the right side of the box. Not sure if it's factory sealed, but good deal if u like Fallout
You got a factory sealed CE from your description.

If you look really really close on the back...you'll see a few tiny holes...it's just harder to spot. The holes are about half inch apart...so if you find one tiny hole...you can see the next one.

Definitely worth it. The chips are high quality, identical to those found in casinos (with the exception of the platinum chip, much bulkier). The cards are standard quality, although the art from the game is great - each card has a different character, with a relevant quote. Personally the cards were my favorite, seeing as how the graphic novel was fairly meh.
The chips are real clay chips?
Does this really matter? Really?
I didn't inspect them that closely, but they felt like the casino chips. Not plastic and no metal inserts.
You shouldn't buy the CE if you are looking for real clay chips to play with....because there are only 7 chips.

You have a point. It is not going to matter much to most, even me. But it would be cool if they were.

Good response.

Why the rolling of the eyes man?

Haters these days.. Always rolling their eyes
The CE has the slipcover for the game, right?
Nope, no slipcover, just the shrink wrapped game.

I picked up the last PS3 version CE along with Borderlands GOTY in one of my nearby stores this morning. (Evergreen Commons, San Jose, CA)

While I was looking for Borderlands, I saw a display case for Fallout New Vegas that had two price tags, one for the regular edition and another for the CE. So, as far as this store, the $29.99 price tag is public knowledge. Go buy them while you can!

Might have been posted, but i'm too lazy to read through the threads. But Xbox 360 FO:NV standard has a trade in value of 25.00 @ Amazon right now.

I went ahead and decided to upgrade for 5$

Included in the CE:

The game: sealed, no slipcover
Playing Cards: Sealed, in a cheap cardboard box. The cards are great quality, and if you're a Fallout fan you'll enjoy flipping through to see the pictures and quotes
The Chips: Quality chips. Can't tell if they're real clay or not, but they sure FEEL real. Very weighty.
The Platinum Chip: Weighty metallic chip, much larger than the regular ones. I'll use this to mark the dealer in my games now!
Making Of DVD: Comes in plastic slipcover, no seal. Haven't watched yet.
The Comic: Haven't read it, but it looks quality. Hardcover, unsealed. From flipping through the first few pages it appears to concern Benny and the Great Khans.

All encased in a high-quality cardboard box with some pre-printed wear on it.

Managed to pick one up. I already had the game but had barely played it, so figured I'd trade that copy in and just keep this edition.

From the pictures I've seen of the CE, it looked like there was some sort of an artbook in it as well. I'm guessing that's not the case though and that was just the comic book in the picture?

The Bioshock 2 LE was impressive as it had a pretty decent sized artbook, an actual vinyl record album, a cd and some posters(with secret messages you could only see under a black light) in it besides the game.

I tried the local BB after I didn't find this version of FO NV at one of the stores listed to have it in stock at GS, but they were sold out of the PS3 version as well. Otherwise I would have PM'd it and returned DA O UE to pay for it.;)

Ya it STILL shows in stock for me too. What should i do? Especially if its the same guy and he still says they show none in stock? Should i insist he look in the back and behind the counter or something? If he was holding it for himself or somethign id think he would have gotten it already. Its been like 3 days now. I know their store locator isn't that accurate but thats just weird. Id really like the ps3 version, that way i can keep one sealed and open the other. I guess a 360 version would work too though.
Nope, no slipcover, just the shrink wrapped game.
hah, glad i kept the slipcover when i returned the copy i had bought months ago to Walmart then! I had a strange feeling that the CE may not come with one, looks like i was right.
all the gamestops near my have it in stock... might have to break my gamestop boycott to get this lol.
look at it as not really helping them out, but scoring a great deal. At that price im sure they're losing money on it

I would say to ask for a manager if the employee kinda refuses to look for it. It may be behind the counter, as those walls with the slots for game cases in them are actually cabinets in most GS stores.

That's where the 360 version was that I noticed at the store that told me the PS3 version wasn't there.

Thanks OP, picked up a PS3 set. There are quite a few stores that still have them, but I doubt it's worth picking the rest up to try to resell.

It's definitely a nice set, and yes IAmTheCheapestGamer, the artbook is actually the comic - it's a hardcover graphic novel type.

I just looked it up on Joystiq earlier and they confirmed it as well.

It should be mandated that every CE/SE/LE game that costs OVER $70 MUST come with an artbook and not one of those lil pansy ass ones like the GTA IV SE one had.:whistle2:#

That is awesome, thanks for letting us know about the trade in value. I went ahead and locked in my trade in and will keep the collector's goodies. I bought the last one for 360 at Gamestop on Linden Ave in Dayton, Oh. I got it home and found I had a gutted copy (what is the point of gutting a collector's edition?) that not only had no case but had a couple minor scratches on the disc. I won't be able to sell it for much used (even after I go back and get my case) but at least now I can trade it in for basically what I would have got for a sealed copy after Amazon or Ebay fees.

Thanks OP! Got the last PC copy from my local GS. Employee seemed a bit disappointed that I was there for it, saying that he'd been going back and forth as to whether to buy it himself. At least he did the right thing, instead of snatching it up for himself.

...or maybe there were two and he's getting one for himself as well. Either way, I gots me one.

It's also $25 in TIV at Best Buy, so if you don't want to take a chance on Amazon/NorAm rejecting it for a scratched disc or some other silly reason then you could trade it in there.

Then you could go to the Kindle section and buy one of the $25 Kindle gift cards, which works as normal Amazon credit and still get your AMZ credit, just with an added step.;)

That is not a bad idea friend.

For IE CAGs in So Cal, I picked up 2 copies of the 360 version (one for me and the other for a friend) at the Ontario Mills store. Both were factory sealed and had a layer of dust. There was one copy of the 360 version left as of last night. I don't know if they had any PS3 or PC copies left. I was surprised that this store still had copies since there's a lot of foot traffic there.

Picked up one copy at the Yopp Rd location in Jacksonville, NC. They still had like 3 left all still tagged at $79.99. Rang up at $29.99, sweet.

Got the last 360 version at gamestop. They said no without looking and told them too double check and voila.

In for one ps3 version, but had to hit two stores about 20 miles apart since the first one sold out before I got there today. Definitely worth the trip though, thanks OP!

My one buddy ran into the one GS showing one in stock for PS3 and grabbed it for me tonight.

It's definitely well worth $30, but I'm not sure I would pay the original $79.99 for it.

Just opened my CE copy, and I'm amazed at the quality of this CE. I've seen other same priced CE that can't compare. Really happy with this $30 price!

I got the last copy at my store today. Shrink wrapped and had the preorder DLC code inside the case. Such a nice deal. :)

I may pick this up today, I just got it used (a rebuy, just didn't have the time for it before) for $18 and saw that it traded in for $25 at Amazon. So I'll send that in with NBA 2K11 and run over and get the CE today. I'm pretty sure all three local GS's still have it in stock here.

I've been playing through Fallout New Vegas over the past few weeks, and I have to say, I like New Vegas better than Fallout 3. That could be because I changed my play style for New Vegas though. I went into wanting to explore the world, rather than power through the campaign. In my opinion, that's the only way to play this game. Fallout 3 is great too, but I'm just having more fun with this one. Plus I think the story, at least so far, is better in New Vegas.

Point being, this game is well worth the money. It's a lot of fun. I'm playing on 360, and probably 20 hours in or so, no crashes. I did get stuck in the environment once though. But overall, it doesn't seem very buggy to me so far. I think the patch must have fixed most of the big problems.
