Fallout: New Vegas - Gen. Discussion & Info

Anybody else having disappearing inventory problems AFTER completing Dead Money? Just finished it, and when I went back to my companions, they didn't have anything anymore. For example, Veronica had cartons of cigarettes instead of what I left her with for some reason, and some of her dialogue reset (like the speech queues for her upgrade quest).

I read somewhere online that multiple people had this problem, depending on the quest. I never store items in my other characters, so I can't say the same has happened to me.

Finally picked this one up the other night. I love it, I didn't expect not to, but eight hours in and I've only finished two quests because seven hours of that was load times. Installed it just now, and they appear to have improved dramatically. Gonna be a good night.

Also, I've been meaning to ask, is it just me or are there two different icons on people's gamertags? Does the CE have its own disc?

I've noticed that too. I have the CE, and there's no other disc. Hmmmmmm.... very interesting...

It has different pictures for the big size and the small size. Compare yours or irratebass' gamer card (big size) with drktrpr1's (small size). I've seen a couple other games do that, I think Fable III is one.
Logged on to New Vegas today and was greeted by a 4 MB update, anybody know whats it about? Tried looking it up but got no answers.
According to Bethesda, there hasn't been an update since December. Are you sure it wasn't that patch?

2nd time in a row it froze at the door of Legate's Camp. WTF. Luckily I just saved.

edit: got through and beat it. hooray.

Yeah I thought it was strange as well, couldn't find anything. I dont think it was that major patch cause I already downloaded that one before. Could it be like a prep patch for the incoming dlc? Its a small size for anything major in game, me thinks.

The thing is, is that the incoming DLC isn't due for many more weeks at best. PS3 and PC will get Dead Money here shortly, but as far as 360 goes there hasn't even been a hint otherwise of what/when the new content may be.

Decided to resume playing this game.. was in the Gomorrah and killed a prostitute, and even though the game said she was dead, her NPC said in a gasping voice "Do me a favor.. when they bury me, make sure I'm in a pretty dress".. creeped me out

So does anyone think they are done with DLC? Wasn't there new content for Fallout 3 at least two months apart from each other? It's almost been three months and not even a peep about new content. I may just finally get those last couple achievements and trade it in.

There's definitely going to be a lot more DLC. They've said multiple times that there will be more. They just haven't released any details about them. All we know is that they trademarked a few possible names: "Honest Hearts," "Lonesome Road," and "Old World Blues."
If there isn't anymore DLC, I will definitely have heartache by the numbers...wacka wacka...
That would have me seeing Texas Red...

That's a good point. I'm playing this right now cleaning up some final cheevos and was hoping for some extra DLC! Maybe Dead Money didn't sell well enough for them to put out any more? That'd be a shame if it was true...

They said on their blog in February

This morning we’ve announced that Dead Money, the first game add-on for Fallout: New Vegas, is coming to PlayStation 3 (via PSN) and PC (via Steam and Direct2Drive) on Tuesday, February 22nd. Additionally, we will be releasing three additional add-on packs in the coming months. These packs will launch simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Looking forward to DLC as long as it's Obsidian-made. FNV's been one of my favorite modern RPGs (Only other one in the same league being Bloodlines) and I got a kick out of Dead Money. Hoping for more dialog and choices and consequences though. Dead Money was primarily a dungeon crawl, admittedly a fun one. Also hoping the rest of the FNV DLC has an end sequence like Dead Money.

Bonus points if they could work the DLC into FNV in such a way to impact the storyline, though they've already said no continuation of the story after the main quest. Which is understandable, pretty much every ending you can get impacts the game world in a major way.

I played through Dead Money and got all the achievements.

I thought it was ok overall. The biggest issue I had with it was the radios and speakers. I must have died at least 25 times just because I couldn't spot the hidden radio/speaker. I liked the holograms, but thought the radio/speakers really took away from the DLC.

As long as you have melee or unarmed, the lack of ammo/limited resources isn't really a big deal. I had like over 50 stimpacks at the end and could have bought more. Beartraps crippling legs was causing me issues. It just really made me run around crippled often. The itemization is a little screwy, I opened a lot hard and very hard containers (like safes) and found garbage inside.

I am unsure if they ever fixed the first achievement bug. The problem was that you needed to be sure to recruit DOG. You can easily get both ending achievements by saving right before the final encounter and reloading.

Apparently, there was a leak of a supposed trailer for Honest Hearts today, but the video has been pulled. Bethesda is holding an event this week, so let's hope for an official announcement!!!! Hopefully we get some more DLC soon!!!!!

Man, I hope there is an event this week - that would be awesome! I need more FONV dlc!!!

Kinda sounded like this next one might go to the Grand Canyon, so we'll hopefully get more Legion stuff. Clearly it's taking this long since it will play drastically differently if you're NCR, Legion, or unaffiliated. Clearly!

From their forums...
---------

Hi everyone,

On behalf of all of the hard-working teams at Bethesda and Obsidian, I’d like to give you an update what we’ve been working on these past few months.

Well, here’s what happened: our next DLC release (announcement coming very soon, we promise) has been complete while we worked on getting a patch ready for you all. We didn’t want to just release more DLC before we had a patch that would improve the overall New Vegas experience.

The good news is that we do have such a patch and it’s been handed off to the necessary platform owners. It should be released in the next couple of weeks on 360, PS3 and PC (can’t be more specific than that, I’m afraid, although PC will almost certainly get it first).

So what’s in that patch? First and foremost, optimizations and stability improvements. While there are bug fixes, our core focus was on improving stability and performance. We worked directly with first party platform owners to identify issues, and we have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes.

We know we’re not done yet. There’s still more work to do, and we’ll be monitoring the forums very carefully following the release of this patch, looking for more issues. We do have another update planned further down the line.

So I’d like to apologize for the radio silence. Hopefully you’ll be pleased with the enormous amount of work we’ve put into this update over the last few months, and will enjoy the rest of our DLC releases. We have some pretty cool stuff coming soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks,
Jason Bergman
Senior Producer, FNV

Thanks for the info, waka!!! Hope we hear something soon!!! I hope it has nothing to do with the factions, honestly. I am NCR all the way, so I hope I don't have to work with the legion scoundrels, lol. I hope there it is re-visitable though.

Posted the morning of 4/28 (yesterday).

"The game update (v 1.3) is live in North America and Europe on Steam, PS3, and Xbox 360.

We realize folks are experiencing some save issues with the game update. We're currently working with Microsoft to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. When we have more information, we'll let you know."

I finished Portal 2, so I'm going to dive back into this game, hope they fixed some of the technical issues.

If Lonesome Road is NV's Broken Steel then it had better be as epic. Both LR and Old World sound great. Not quite sold on Honest Hearts yet. Although Point Lookout was fun I'm not interested in doing it again especially on this engine. I still need to fire up Dead Money. With Homefront being as terrible as I thought (I want to kill myself and take my friend with me for convincing me to buy this shitty game but now we're even) I have good reason to start it.

I find myself so strangely drawn to this game, even though it has a reputation as a buggy mess and I didn't even like Fallout 3 that much. Every time there's some sale, I consider it. I haven't picked it up yet though, and I guess this torrent of DLC news has cemented my decision to just wait for a cheap GOTY compilation.
So I just got this today from Gamefly. I'm not supposed to do the update, right?
Definitely do the update, it fixes a TON of bugs.
First impressions from you launch purchasers would be very appreciated.
Short...(Though probably longer than Star Wars TFU II lol)

...but if your a big Fallout fan you will like it a lot

I certainly hope you're only talking about the main quest because I wasn't terribly interested in the DLC when it was initially announced. ;\

Second opinions anyone?

Wrong about the NV time? or my side joke about TFU II?

Not a launch purchaser, but a big Fallout fan and just finished this a month or so ago. It is pretty short. I finished in under 20 hours and I did a shit ton of side quests. The extremely high quality writing though makes it a must play.

Edit: Oops, didn't realize you were asking about the new DLC. I need to pick it up. Glad we're getting a release like Broken Steel.

Expect 3-6 hours, max.
